Update: Just called them and sent my NOA. Approved on the spot (literally applied today). Sales rep confirmed 100,000 points bonus, $0 annual fee for the first year and no fee on second card holder.

I'm not actually sure why some people see only 50,000 points. Please see my screen shot: https://imgur.com/a/rKjr0X5

Update #2:
So I'm using Google chrome on my PC and Phone and both show 100,000 bonus points.
When I use Edge and Firefox, they show 50,000 points.
I'm not sure why this is the case but its worth a shot.

Update #3:
Just got my card. Real quick. A week after approval.

Update #4:
Got my 100,000 bonus points today!

  • So what can you get for 100k points these days? They have devalued the points I remember.

    • +2

      $500 worth of gift card(s)

      • It depends on your card as well. For some reason my Qantas Premium doesn't allow to use on gift cards and reward purchases. Only flights.

    • +1

2 Amex points will be equal to 1 point in most of their airline loyalty transfer partners (Virgin, Singapore Airlines etc), or 1000 points equals $5 off your statement. So 50k points or $500.

    • $500 worth of statement credit or GC from a post before

  • +5

Link says "Receive 50,000 Bonus Membership Rewards Points"?

    • Mine still says 100,000

      • I got 50k point as well when I clicked on the link.

      • Anyone else seeing 50,000, or is it just me? Mind sharing a screenshot, maybe I can call their customer service and ask?

Yea it still shows 100,000 for me

        • OzBargain thumbnail also shows 100,000.

Maybe clear your cache and history?

        • It's 50k even after I cleared all cache and history

          • @arctan: thats so weird… I wasnt doing anything special to get that offer.

          • @arctan: Are you using Google Chrome?

            See my update above.

            • @Koipanda: Both Chrome and MS Edge. I reckon it's IP specific.

    • 50k for me too…

  • Got this card two months ago. Now I feel I'm being penalised.

    • +7

Anyone who clicks on a deal without reading the actual deal on the official website needs a lesson…

        • +3

Applying a credit card is not a casual action. Koipanda could have phrased it a bit differently, but he/she got a point.

  • Is this a targeted offer? Anyone else can see 100k points? I can only see 50k.

    • Yeah its 50K only.

a number of people above has confirmed it

      • I just called them, sent my NOA, and got approved on the spot. Sales rep confirmed 100,000 bonus points.

        • Whats the number did you call? I am actually interested to get this deal.
Also do you know the minimum credit limit for this card?

      • using incognito worked for me

  • Another 6 month wait for me before I can apply for american express card. Hope they come out with something better than this. $500 giftcard after 18 months wait is not much.

    • +1

I think this is as good as it gets for the platinum edge, keep in mind its a $500 statement credit (better than gift card) $200 travel credit, so it's not that bad.

If you want better then this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/642085 is a better deal but requires a higher income.

  • +1

I just got off the phone with someone and they said they were adamant it was for 100k points, even though it comes up for me as 50k. If I just sign up anyway, do we think it would work for 100k?

    • Apparently not, according to the person I spoke to. The promotion varies by the URL link we’re directed to.

      • I confirm clicking the link on my phone and on another browser. Both shows 100,000.

  • What happens after 1 yr? Can we nego with them to waive the fee?

    • Sure, no harm trying, but they haven't waived for many years.

    • +1

I wouldn't wait 1 year. Cancel after 11 months, jump to another card with good offer and repeat.

    • I tried a few years ago with this card and was told they cannot waive the fee on this card, that basically this was their most expensive card to run. That was back when the points were worth double and you got a free domestic flight instead of the travel credit. They did offer me about $50 worth of points at the time though

Hi misters and mrs ozbargainers, I’ve recently gotten my first full time graduate role. I want to buy a chair a desk to wfh. How do I go about getting a credit card to take advantage of these points?

    • Congrats (on being a doctor?)

Depending on the card you choose, points are calculated per $1 spent.

I'm not sure what exactly you're asking

      • Pardon me, im planning on spending one or two grand. I wanted to take advantage of promotions like 120k points by spending a particular amount within a certain amount of time. Am I allowed to get a credit card if I’ve just started a new job?

        • It is possible if you're recently employed. Depending on the CC provider, it may be easy-hard to get approved.

          For AMEX

To verify your income, please upload ONE of the below:
A recent payslip that shows your last 3 months' worth of income
Most recent Notice of Assessment from the Australian Tax Office (please blank out your Tax File Number)
Contract of employment (if employed for less than 90 days)
A letter from your Registered Accountant on a Company Letterhead (if self-employed)
Latest superannuation statement confirming your closing balance (if retired)

Make sure you check the minimum income.

This card is $50,000 a year.

Once approved, all you need to do is spend the required amount for the approved points. In this case its $1,500 (online or inshop)

          • @Koipanda: Thank you kind friend. Also I’m not a doctor, I’m a technology consultant now. Yay! Thank you thankyou thank you

            • @DrPhil: I thought you were a talk show host :)

              • @ffhound: Career change!

                • @DrPhil: I've just applied for this card. For some reason it didn't ask for any proof of income at all. Got instant approval upon submission. This is the first credit card app I've ever seen that didn't ask for any kind of payslip as proof at all.

                  • @buckethat: lucky you, got conditionally approved then they called me and was declined…I called them they said to send payslips and might be re evaluated…

                    • @Gooddeal21: Ah that sucks mate, my turn hasnt turned up yet but its only been 4 days. Haven't been contacted by Amex either, other than the initial confirmation emails. Hopefully its all good.

Did you end up sending through payslips? Should be fine as long as you meet the requirement right.

    Hey guys here’s a trick:
Use VPN and keep changing your IP until you can see the 100,000 points promotion available to you. Make sure you copy this link and paste into browser in private browsing mode:

I was told by the customer service rep that this is a randomised offer to online visitors. Good luck!

    • +1

This worked, one of my mobile sims threw the 100k up, cheers!

    • Just worked for me too, thanks! Hopefully all ends up working through to the end

      • As long as you sign up immediately upon seeing the "Exclusive Offer". You can also call them to confirm if you're indeed eligible for 100,000 points.

      • Which VPN did you use?

        • I got ExpressVPN and then cancelled for my money back. They ended up declining my application though and said they would email me with details but never got it. Maybe it's because they thought I was in Thailand lmao

    • Awesome, thanks for the tip, connected to my work VPN, cleared my cache and ta dah!

  • Hey Op. You wrote $0 annual fee. It should be $0 annual fee in the first year, then $195 there after.

Pretty good deal. I used my MR points for Canadian Domestic travel (booked via Singapore Air on Air Canada planes) A $700 flight was only 12 000 points…. But this was back in the old days (2018) when we used to travel.

  • I used opera and an asian vpn and went to

and then cards and view all personal cards

and the 100k offer was there

I have applied and am waiting on a reponse.

Please note that on subsequent efforts to look at the same offer it came up with 50k points so if you get the 100k offer coming up use it or lose it.

    cheers Peter

  • Just got my points today!

    100,000 bonus points

  • Huh.. This is the easiest credit card application I've ever submitted..

It barely asked for any information, and I got approved immediately..

  • Was able to sign up with the 100,000 bonus points on phone
Connected VPN via Singapore, used incognito chrome browser

  • I also applied it and got approved last week. The approval process is a bit annoying as they want to confirm your work email as well as taking photos with license details.

  • I'm interested to get this deal, tried the VPN + in incognito method for a while but never got the 100k deal. Maybe the the deal has changed now? I can see they're giving $200 davidjones too now ($200 spend for $200 credit), on top of the $200 travel credit and 50k points. Was it the case before too?
