New Head Unit 2013 Kia Sportage

Hi all
Looking for a new head unit for my 2013 Kia Sportage diesel. The factory model has given up the ghost on the CD player and the bluetooth connection is sketchy at best.
Looking to get it replaced with an Android Auto/Carplay unit (I'm on Android, wife's got an iPhone). Not sure if a DIY is doable as it has a subwoofer, reversing camera, and steering controls already.
I'm in SW WA if anyone knows a good installer.
Thanks crew!

I recently got Kenwood DMX5020S installed in my 2007 Toyota Rav4. Very pleased with the head unit. No issues yet! The installer also wired it up to the steering controls. I'm not in WA, so can't help you with an installer.

  • Look into getting an android Head unit off Aliexpress.

I was wary with everyone saying how bad they were and that they lasted a couple of years before dying but i still took the plunge.
Here i am 5 years later with it installed in my 07 sportage and it's been going great.
Nothing could come close on features/price point - $200 and installation was a walk in the park, took about 30 minutes.

Honestly look into them, unless you want to stick with local distributors in which case i guess supercheap auto or repco maybe, else gumtree or marketplace has heaps of keen backyard installers who can do a fairly decent job.

The nice thing about aliexpress as well is that they can provide the dash fascia as well which helps with a clean install.

    • Thanks for the tips! I've not really ever considered an AliExpress model, I'll have a look at them and see what they can offer.

    • That looks like pretty awesome value. Have you had any experience with this brand?

Honestly, go to your local audio place and talk to them about it. You don't have to buy from them but if you do, you'll likely only pay a little more than the 'best deal' you could get online, but you will 100% get the right bits.

We did it for our Subaru. They supplied the right wiring harness, speakers that were the right size for the door, and everything just worked. Check the reviews, I reckon you'll find there's a place nearby that will have totally rave reviews. Just walk in and ask them what to do, and give them a budget and requirements.

You CAN absolutely DIY it and you will save so much over paying someone else to do it. But you need to know the right parts. Without the right wiring harness etc you won't be able to use your factor sub and steering wheel controls. The pros know what you need.
