Was in at BigW today and got these prices. They were pretty open about prices which was good. They had this leaflet out on the counter, so to prove that this does not belong in the forums!

      Same as asking what you can do with the iPhone 4 that you can't with the 3GS.

      The huge resolution bump will make reading, browsing and watching HD movies a far more pleasant experience. It also future-proofs your device in the near future in case 2048×1536 becomes a new native resolution for iOS or apps. Same goes for the spec bump. If none of these interest you, the iPad 2 is still a bargain right now. Just don't assume it'll run iOS 6.0 onward silky smooth.

      Resolutionary!!!

      Pretty much the upgrade from tegra 2. Meaning it wont struggle with 720p+ playback due to the older version missing neon scripts. Other than that….. its the same, but bigger and heavier.

      Its an ipad, since when did they give major upgrades from generation to generation?

        I'm no 8 ball but i think i can answer most of life's mysteries.

        Why no sd card/usb support? - Why add in cheap memory upgrade when people will throw money at you for a higher capacity model? Apple thinks everything should be stored in the cloud. Everyone has to obey that or face buying something uncool.. like the kindle fire.

        why its 4:3 instead of 16:9 like modern digital equipment - Bucause apple said so. They prefer 4:3 as they feel it's a better forat for reading books and browsing the internet. Afterall, the iPad was originally an eBook reader before it became bragging currency.

        why it still doesnt support flash - It will cripple the battery life and performance of the device, meaning they can cram in old tech and just say its revolutionary since its well polished and smooth to operate. Every os would be dropping flash soon since apple decided not to ship all their products without flash, companies and designers were forced to keep with the trend. Plus adobe's support with mobile devices are also crap.

        why it doesnt support custom roms ? - OS's like android is more open source compared to IOS. Theres jailbreaking, should be happy you can atleast get free..err … homebrewed apps!

        why its called after the beatles record label ? - Who doesn't like the Beetles?

    Hey, I'd really like to get one of these as soon as I can on launch day. (After the 64GB wifi-only).
    Any tips on how to get it quickest?
    Are the lines big at Apple Stores the day it comes out (Chermside to be precise), should I get there hours in advance or just as its opening?)
    And do other stores (like Big W) usually have much stock?

      Just pre-order from the Apple Store. Get it shipped to you Day 1. The idiots who line up for days before are just doing it for the photo op these days. A grand total of 6 people waited outside the Sydney Apple store for the iPhone 4S.

    For those that received the $30 Westfield GC during the last AMEX NETWORK promotion please note you may be able to use these cards at a few specific retailers depending if they accept them or not. Big W will not accept the Westfield GC, but for example Harvey Norman at Fountain Gate will, and both David Jones and JB HiFi at Doncaster will accept the Westfield GC. So get them first to pricematch Big W then present your Westfield GC for payment. I have 2 of these so I'm hoping I can purchase my 16GB WiFi iPad for only $438 out of pocket.

        4x the screen pixels will require larger files just to run the thing, plus HD everything else. I believe 16GB is totally inadequate and you can bet the next versions will have higher memory. Absolutely pathetic that Apple have not upgraded the memory specs since Ipad 1.

        Apple are making a killing on selling a pitiful extra amount of memory on the 32g and 64g.

        I will wait for the next Ipad as this one is a poorly balanced product.

    I have NFI with ipads, but the mrs is keen on one.. If I were to get the 16gig wifi, can she use her iPhone 4 or I can use my Samsung Focus to wirelessly tether to it for mobile internet? (Effectively the same as getting a Wifi + 3g/4g iPad but saving the $150~??)

    BigW QV Melbourne - Apparently stock will not arrive until next week.

    Had a chat with a guy in the electronics section. He said they were meant to have arrived by today but is now delayed until next week. He wasn't sure about the other stores though…

    Hey guys. I just pre-ordered the new iPad 64 GB WiFI White from the Good Guys in Nunawading. They've set one aside for me and I can rock up anytime from 9am to 9pm. It also cost $729, which is even cheaper than Big W.

    Edit: Can also pre-order from Brighton Good Guys, I can't confirm for other stores but you can give them a call if needed.
