Missing Item Catch Decides against Me

So seeking opinion / bringing this to your attention.

Bought some pens from Catch about 3 months ago now. I ordered a total of 11 via 5 orders. I received 3 of the orders and 2 were not received. Fortunately, those missing orders had one pen each so I'm missing 2 pens in total.

For the 9 pens that I received, the courier just gave me my parcel and walked away. She didn't even ask for a signature.

I raised this with Catch about two months ago, who then just redirected me to an overseas seller. The seller was able to get a copy of the signature upon delivery which is obviously not mine but decided to rely on this anyway. I tried to get Catch be help but they recently decided to close the case without any further action apart from telling me to make a police report and take it up with the courier.

Those two pens are worth 50-60 I can't remember how much. It's not the end of the world but I'm just so pissed that I'm left in the dark, and out of pocket. I think most of the ozb community will ask me to move on but this is not my fault, and something I find so difficult to stomach.

I'm raising this so that people are aware to be vigilant when buying from Catch going forward. I don't know about your experience but I have been buying from them since 2009 but will now stop doing so.

Didn't receive, no valid proof of delivery, retailer not interested in pursuing = charge back.

About 3 months says probably out of time.

No, you can chargeback up to 6 months on most cards.

      • I've done charge backs way past 3 months and I think even past 6 but it probably depends on the card issuer. I know the issue I had with Shipito trying to rip me off took months of trying to get answers and replies before I even started the charge back process and took almost a year before it was all complete.

  • Out of interest, did you call them and complain? Or just email?

    • Email. Does it make a diff if I called? I shall try it today

      • The crying baby gets the milk. It's hard to hear the years over email

  • Did you buy it from Catch or from a 3rd party seller on their marketplace?

3rd party seller on their marketplace.

From my understanding a lot of delivery services are not requiring signatures at the moment (due to covid). The signature is likely the delivery persons signature to acknowledge they delivered it.

  • Nobody signs parcels since covid.

  • If outside of 6 months for chargeback, can OP pursue a tribunal damages claim for pen plus court costs against Catch?

    • Tribunal isn't a court and you cannot recover the tribunal costs.

  • Even before the pandemic a lot of delivery drivers would ring, ditch the package and then leave.
