Actually the first one I purchased around 2015 was around the 900-1000 mark (I think Harvey Norman?), but at the time included the smart grinder pro.
Congrats, they charge something stupid like 1500-1600 for that pack now. hah.
Good price. I’m holding out though for an $850 or below, as I have a barista express already so kinda not in a rush to upgrade.
This is a very good machine, comparable to Italian ones twice the price. For typical low domestic usage it’s a good choice.
Wait for new year deals. I am in the same boat with Barista Pro. You'll need a grinder though

My bes920 just went in for repairs. Did the descale as per on screen prompting, steam wand won't heat or pump since. Googled for answers and found it's a common occurrence with the descale :( this was my second machine, got it as a warranty replacement for my first one that started hissing and leaking water everywhere. Great machines while they're working, though
Hopefully it will be back up and running soon. I recently had to get my one serviced for steam escape related problems - needed to get the triac board replaced (it can fail when steam gets to it), and o-rings replaced in the top of the boilers (what caused the steam to escape).
I think it cost around $140.
The descale procedure seems to cause problems with some (and I vaguely remember reading somewhere they changed the sequence over the years depending on the model) so you may want to clarify the sequence with service place (or Breville directly) for the model you have.mine did exacly the same, you have likely blown a thermal fuse on the steam boiler. I got mine replaced with a resettable thermal fuse. cost me about $300 from memory.
Same as me. First edition bes920 before the upgraded versions (think there's 3 different versions). When descale, boiler had to be replaced.software update and a different descale process now
