What do referees (new customers) need to do?

Sign up to a Revolut account using your unique referral link

  1. Verify their identity and pass our Know Your Customer (KYC) checks
  2. Add money by connecting their bank account or debit card
  3. Order a physical Revolut card
  4. Complete 3 purchase transactions with their new Revolut card (this can be through a virtual card while they wait for their physical one) of at least $10 each
  5. All the steps above must be completed by Dec 7 (11:59pm GMT)
  6. Only those who received email invite with their unique referral link should update their referral link

    You can tell if you are targeted by clicking the T&C on your referral page. If you don't have the blog title "Earn cash for you and your friends" you are not apart of the $60 to referer and referee.

        1.30am D: Nope I don't have that offer. I have "refer a friend" i.e only $60 to the referer. I would hold off referring people as they state the payout will be 10 days after the promotion.

    That's somewhat tricky, there are two types of referrals and one only pays out one side.

    I've asked all my referees to cancel their application…

      Or you could transfer half to them to make up for it. I’m doing that with the person I’ve invited, because she missed the $30 referral deadline :)
      If your referees cancel and sign up again later, the system might not think they are a new user anymore.

        I'm not 100% sure about this. I think technically it might be prepaid VISA.

        On the standard card I ordered and received last week, it is marked as 'Prepaid' on the back.

        Also in my app, when I navigate to Cards > Add Card, the option for a physical card is referred to as 'Prepaid card'

          Yeah you're right. it's a reloadable prepaid card. Debit would mean it's attached to a bank account.

            Debit cards have different scheme issuing rules and prepaid cards can also be attached to a bank account.

      Prepaid Debit its Neither a credit card or debit card. You cannot sign up with these cards on something that requires reoccurring payments like Zip pay etc.

        I've definitely used my virtual and physical card for recurring payments.

        I've even use the disposable virtual cards for recurring payments but they'll be declined when they try to renew on that source as those cards have been destroyed.

        It's going to depend on merchant and how they want to except/handle prepaid cards.

    Damnit. Someone sent me a referral and told me it was paying both ways but it was only paying the one way. I've already registered with my drivers license, phone number and email…

    Am I screwed? Or can I somehow cancel and sign up again?

        The person referring messaged me later to say they made a mistake and the referral code was only actually paying one way. This was after I completed the sign up process..

          Once you are in the system, and ID verified you will no longer be considered a new user once you sign up again, and therefore ineligible for any sign up promotions.

    I think there are some honest people out there who genuinely made a mistake with the good intention to provide the referrer bonus both ways and I was lucky that person offered to and has already sent half of his referral bonus to me.

    Hopefully my experience has helped others and judging by the comments the best way to go about this is asking the referrer if they could provide a screenshot showing the T&C about referrals being received both ways.

    Thanks again to the person who tried to help out initially. It was a bit nerve wracking for me and it’s all a learning experience.

    Most things in Ozbargain you have to jump so quickly not to miss out, but some cases there are advantages to hanging back and learning from others I.e. myself :p

    They denying my referral bonus (One where only the referrer gets $60), Got punished by the person whom I referred. They did all the hard work and gotten nothing I promised to give them 50% of what I will earn But Look lol I got nothing at all $60 is fake. This is even worse than groupon denying CB claims for SB/CR transactions

        Update : They sent it now as a Goodwill payment not referral
        Referral still says 3 transactions are pending

        And the person whom I referred 1 Shopback $10 GC transaction, 2x Fuel Transaction (all with virtual debit card)

        They kept denying at start but later said i need to wait, wait and wait etc. eventually gave me a Goodwill credit

          Gift card transactions are no longer eligible that’s why. They need to do another $10 spend elsewhere.

          Giftcards are not allowed to be apart of the referral eligible purchases. They updated it to void if a giftcard is purchased for referral. It on the first pay of the comment section here

            Only 3 transactions done using the Revolut Card
            2 differnet merchants - SB and Fuel merchant

            Mine got approved after very long time (but it did)

          Most likely the person who referred you only had a one way referral.. ask them if they have received the rewards. Other possibility would be that you purchased a gift card as one of the transactions and those are no longer considered eligible purchases.

    I followed all the steps for a $30 bonus, but didn't get it. Now they want me to give them the referers name and contact number, but I got it from ozbargain, and didn't write the details down, as it was randomly generated. They also didn't say that was a requirement when I signed up.

      Try to find the referral code in your history (it might be in the url or cookies). Use the talk with a moderator and give them the referral code. They'll try to find the user and PM them for you.

    So, the page https://blog.revolut.com/a/nov2-earn-cash-for-you-and-your-f… (were both parties were promised $60) now results in 404, and the mods unpublished comments where some prospective referrers were soliciting new customers promising them $60. In my opinion, not a great look when it comes to financial matters.
