  • Brilliant find DKC!
This will give my points balance a nice boost up until xmas.

  • Thanks mate.
I bought 3 pizzas from dominos website and paid 3 times today.
only need 2 more transactions to earn 5000 points

  • Good Work - that worked for me!

  • Can someone post a scan of the postcard that you got in the mail?

  • Thank You

  • To find out all of the places you can be rewarded for using your American Express® Card click here

From the language of this statement, you will only be rewarded for transactions occuring at one of the places listed in amexnetwork.com.au/merchantmap.

    • I think they mean "To find out all the places that accept Amex"

    • I think you're right. Thanks for saving me from this weekend Amex spree :-)

  • Ive aready put the codes in for 10,000 points per 20 transaction. Can i change 5,000 points per 5 transactions? Does anyone know?

    • I don't think you need to change to this deal, just put the codes in for this one, and you'll be registered for both.

  • Excellent deal! I've just registered the company Amex card! :)

  • Can you convert these points to QFF points? Qantas Frequent Flyer

    • If you are enrolled for the Ascent level membership, you should be able to convert these points to many airlines including Qantas, Singapore Airlines, etc.

  • If you pay your phone bill online, do it in small amounts, ie $10 at a time, you will get more transactions ;)

  • This might be a stupid question BUT…

I have a national australia bank (NAB) credit card that has an amex logo on the front and uses the amex system to earn points (that are used via the virginblue velocity program)

can i sign up my existing NAB/Amex card to this deal?? and how exactly??

sorry i’m pathetic with stuff like this

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Has anyone called Amex to find out if there is a maximum number of points you can earn with this promotion? Are there T&C anywhere for this? What is the minimum purchase required to be a valid spend for this purpose?

  • No points limit - It's on the card I was sent.
No mention of minimum purchase required.

I can scan in a jpg of the card, but just don't know where to host it.

    • Photo Bucket or Facebook will do

  • woohoo i've just registered my card!
pity i didn't see this post earlier … i used my card about 5 times last night! :(

    • Should be from 1 Sep 2008 I believe ..

  • i was just wondering if someone can confirm that the qantas amex cards are not included in this offer. thanks.

  • ^ doesn't hurt to login to see if you can register on the Qantas Amex. It will tell u whether you're successful or not.

  • Does this work with the Blue Sky AMEX?

  • Is there a limit per month? like 10,000 bonus points per 20 transactions EACH MONTH. If you use the card 20 times or more a month, the 20 transactions bonus is better because you can't earn 20000 bonus points with this offer !?

  • Can someone confirm if you actually need to purchase from a merchant on the merchant map (amexnetwork.com.au/merchantmap).

The message is a little vague:

Thank you. Can someone scan the promotion card along with T&Cs?

  • Each month from 1 September to 31 December 2008 - that is enough limit.
The maximum you can earn is 20000 points.

  • Wish I could edit the above post.

"NB: only apply for people who have joined the “Membership Rewards” program (eg Choices, Ascent etc), not for the Qantas AE cards."

This is incorrect. It IS available for Qantas Cards but you must call Amex directly.

I was informed that it is 5 transactions per day are required to get this bonus.

  • are you telling me aussiemark that qantas amex can join this promo if they call amex directly?

  • Luisa Megale, VP for Public Affairs & Communications at American Express asked [frequentflyer.com.au Admin] to post this note on her behalf…

    Hi guys

It's Luisa from American Express here. I've asked [frequentflyer.com.au Admin] to post this message on my behalf.

I have been reading with interest the discussion about our bonus points offer. I'm happy to confirm that it is a legitimate offer. As it has been rightly pointed out, the intent of the offer is to encourage our Cardmembers to get out and use their Cards. Particularly in the thousands of new businesses we have signed this year.

I just wanted to let you know that the offer will be restricted to Cardmembers who received the invitation in the mail; and Cardmembers who are currently enrolled, even if the offer was not intended for them.

We will be reviewing all Cardmembers who registered multiple times and limiting their enrolment to the original offer, or the offer they would have been eligible for had they been invited to participate.

It's great to see you are so excited about the benefits of using your American Express Card, but unfortunately there are limits. I have been disappointed to read some of the posts suggesting abuse of the offer. We will be reviewing all spend activity related to the offer to identify cases of suspected abuse. Cardmembers who are found to have acted inappropriately risk forfeiting any points earned .

Sorry to end on a low note. But we love how enthusiastic you guys are about your American Express Cards and encourage you to get out there and spend. While I will continue to read - or is the right term lurk - with interest, I'm not planning popping up here regularly.

    Luisa

  • Hi Okidok that is correct.

Now with Luisa's information you may not be able? but worth a try or ask them. If you did receive it in the mail your okay.

    Kind regards,
    Mark

  • thanks mark

  • Amex are a bunch of clowns !!

We have 2 platinum cards and a gold all heavily used - Their website bombed out and now the offer is not open to me.

After paying hefty annual fees for my gold card (and associated reward programs) I rang up to cancel it (going to platinum visa offered free) - Surprise surprise AMEX have made my gold card FEE FREE FOR LIFE.

Kind of makes me angry about all the fees paid in past - not this BS takes the cake, I'm over AMEX

Monday morning I'm going to call up and demand they give me this offer or BYE BYE BYE - they can even have my FEE FREE for life Gold card back !!

  • This isn't working for me either….says it doesn't exist? :S

  • I rang them up and had a whinge, they offered me 20,000 free points to shut up and go away.

    Hardly satisfying

  • so did you get the deal?

  • Sounds like a great deal for those who get it. It's just a shame there is so much verbal diarrhea on the frequentflyer thread

  • We made 5 transactions using AMEX last weekend and the 5,000 points are already shown on online statement. ;D

Good incentive to use AMEX when it's been hibernating for a couple of years. :)

  • I got 5000 points credited as well.

  • Hi,

This thread has been quiet for a bit.

However it appears that Amex is renegging on this offer.

It appears that even if you registered that a 10,000 per month cap is now applied to everyone if you were not directly mailed the offer.

    Is that others experience too?

  • I just rang them up about this and was told that it would normally take 8 to 10 weeks for the points to show. A bit slow.

  • I did not receive the personal invitation and tried to register today.
The offer has apparently expired. :-(

  • I got 5000 bonus point from entering this offer last week and Amex just took it away from me
seems like this is only valid if you received personal invitation

  • I registered for this offer on the 18th September and received confirmation from Amex that I was entitled to the offer. I accrued 15,000 points in September and suddenly yesterday I find that the 15,000 points has been deducted from my account. I will be speaking to them tomorrow as it seems they are now going back on their promotional offer!

  • Same - I have had points removed as well. This is really bad form on the part of American Express. I think they will upset more people with this promotion than impress.

Hopefully they will learn to lock down the system and if people aren't invited / allowed to join the promotion then they don't allow their cards.

  • If that's the case, we have to make complaints because it has been confirmed by them and I'm still using the AMEX for all payments. Or, I will cancel my card.

  • I just rang and they confirmed that I was enrolled although I didn't receive the letter, which was good. But the bonus points will take 8 to 10 weeks to arrive after the verification of eligible transaction. The definition of eligible transactions are pretty much any purchases or bpay.

  • I got a letter today stating that it was for selected people only. They will however honour 5000 for 5 transactions for Sep month and 5000 for 10 transactions for the rest of the months without any limit. Have anyone got a similar letter?

  • I received the same letter a couple of days ago. Very disappointing as I had rung Amex on three separate occasions during Oct and Nov to confirm that I was eligible for 5000 for five deal. Each time they confirmed that as I had enrolled before the cut-off date of Sept 19, that I was indeed eligible and would receive the full points.

  • Hurray - today I got another letter saying that they will go back to the original deal of 5000 points for 5 transactions (oct-dec 2008)

That's the spirit Amex - well done!

  • Me too, Skinny. I got the same letter. A roller coaster ride that has ended very satifactorily. Thanks Amex for being good sports.

    • Good on AMEX!

I got the original offer, so not too fussed but happy to see everyone benefit. Tomorrow is the last day so going to try make at least another 5 transactions to get another 5000 points. So far have gotten $300 worth of shopping vouchers. Came in really handy for Xmas!

  • I'd just like to say that i got that letter too, and on the 31st Dec, i was credited with 25,000 (which i suspect they capped the offer)

Just wondering how have others fared?

  • Just to let you know, I've finally got all my points from the rewards deal - about 170,000 all up! Thanks Amex!

  • I have received about 120,000 points. Transfer 93,500 points to singapore airline for 2 international tickets. Really good!

  • The most gained from the promotion is about 2.8 million, unless someone has seena higher amount.

  • Just went onto the site to register. This promotion is now ended.

  • I finally received the rest of my points, taking me up to roughly 800,000. I had to make a complaint to the financial ombudsman before Amex finally paid out. If others are having trouble getting their points out of Amex, I'd suggest using the FOS
