I’m not made of money but how do people buy a new phone that is $1500 every year and not feel baf

IMHO, I think it is similar to renting the phone - buy the new iphone and sell the year old iphone with a $300 to $600 discount. In the case of the $600 - it will be like renting an iphone at $50 a month over 12 months. Then some would have used discounted gift cards which will make the original price lower.

Because contrary to popular opinion, most people no longer buy a brand new phone each year. iPhones can probably last 3-4 years with no dramas, and a quick battery swap can keep it going for a while.

I still use my iPhone 7 and replaced the battery once for $80. Still working!

      • I'm on an iPhone 6s Plus. I need to charge it 3 times a day. Its constantly at 1% battery and i was hoping to stretch it for another year but recently the camera hardware started giving me problems and its made shop QR check-ins a pain. Now i'm looking for a new phone and even 2nd hand iPhone 12s scare me with the $1k price tag and buying and iPhone 12 mean I only get 3 more years usage before it starts to fail and then the updates slow it down.

Replace the camera and the battery yourself. Try iFixit for repair instructions.

Every year? You can keep this one for 4 years at least, fully supported and high quality phone made to last.

    • Why dont you ask them? I dont know anybody that buys a new phone every year.

Although i don't like apple, i have 6s from work, still working, the hardware is shiet but it's the software and os that make it work.

So that's roughly 7% if you PB from OW. Why don't you buy TCN card at Coles (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/664735) and grab one from JBs instead? That's equivalent to $1291.15?

    • Well those cards only come in $100 max and you are technically only allowed to get five. Of course I suppose you could return for more then scratch all of them in JB.

Personally I would go with the 20x everyday rewards points deal (pity they are not 30x any more) and buy direct from Apple.

  • If your after a 13 mini, they have no stock, so no price beat.
