[NSW] Coles Fruit Mince Pies $0.08 @ Coles World Square

1040

8 cents for 6 fruit mince pies is probably the best value I’ve seen at a coles, there are like at least 5 entire boxes of them left so they won’t be going out of stock any time soon

Also there are 10 cents Christmas crackers

Wow wow wow one of the biggest bargain

  • -3

Missed opportunity, this store should be called Coles New.

  • I was disappointed that they are only 45c at Kareela

  • +5

Problem is, if you buy them, what are you going to do with them? If I see another Christmas pie, pudding, or gingerbread, I'm going to have to puke.

    • +2

You could store them for next Christmas.

    • +1

      Feed them to the needy

      • +1

Exactly. I'm very needy of mince pies

        • Would you like some brandy custard with those?

  • +17

A nice thought for Coles would be to give these pies to charity. I am sure they can live without the 8c per pack they are selling them for.

    • +5

What would charity do with excess 1 star health rated food?

      • Feed them to the poor

        • -1

Do you think that's a good idea or a bad idea?

    • +3

How do you know they aren't already giving them away?

    • +5

Ship it to the starving children in Africa.

      • +9

We're trying to feed them, not make them vomit

        • +1

          It's the thought that counts

        • Good idea. I'll ask at the Coles Service Desk if they can arrange that

      • +1

Well why don't you buy some and do it yourself if you think sending these would fix the issue.

    • +7

They are probably doing the charity a favour by not giving it to them.

    • +1

They do go to secondbite but it’s not really a in demand or healthy item haha

  • "Fruit"

  • +1

    how to eat this?

i never ate a fruit mince

    • they're terribly overrated

    • +8

Step 1: take out of wrapper. Step 2: throw directly into bin. (Note: to save time, you can also just throw directly in bin without removing wrapper)

    • +3
      1. open pie hole / gob / mouth food slot
      2. jam pie in face orifice
      3. masticate furiously and repeatedly
      4. swallow
        ….
      5. Profit???
      • so it is ready to eat no heating in the oven .. ?

i never ate a fruit mince

        • +1

yeah - personal preference! I personally prefer a pre-warmed pie, but each to their own

          • @swampson: ok so u enjoy it huhh ?

i never ate a fruit mince

            • +3

@capslock janitor: yes i gathered you have not previously consumed ;)
they are ok - not great, not terrible. Being a standard Christmas item, tend to get a bit involved and just go for it
There are better brands, for sure.
also, at 8c, why not? go try it and indulge your fine self.

        • +1

ready to eat but best to eat with icecream, etc.

      • I have been sitting on the toilet waiting for my profit after swallowing approx 24 hours ago

      • Lube?

    • +10

Capslock Janitor: NEVER ATE A FRUIT MINCE.

    • +1

You don't eat it. mince pies are reserved for enemies or unwanted visitors (especially crap ones like these), see how fast they get the hell out of your house when you offer them one of these.

    • +5

Air fryer for 5 min at 180 degrees. Thank me later

      • what's the Ozb airfryer of choice?

      • That's how I eat them too. Great stuff for a snack.

    • These fruity mince pies are enjoyable cold with a glass of cold milk on a hot summers day….

    • +1

A few of my Januarys were about copious amounts of cheap mince pies and cups of three-in-one.

The pies are ready to eat. I industrialized the process of consuming them by eating around the top edge first to maximize the pastry-to-fruit ratio towards more pastry and two bites to get rid of the middle.

      • januaries?

        • Yep, spread over about the prior four years. Not doing it this year due to my, ahem, avoir du pois…..

          • @rodericb: u are using words and lingo i dont understand …haha

            • +1

@capslock janitor: Avoir du pois is French for weight. You pronounce it as "avwah do pa" and it sounds like a very exotic way of telling someone that they are fat ha ha. Hence i am laying off the mince pies this year… I do miss them. Especially when they are so silly cheap in January….

  • +1

These generic Coles range ones are shocking. I don't mind a fruit mince pie but if this was my first experience I'd be turned off them for good.

Maybe if you warmed them up, drowned them in custard and were drunk off eggnog it'd be enjoyable.

  • +2

Still much too expensive. Fruit mince pies aren't people food.

  • +3

Make sure you don’t buy one pack and pay with cash, otherwise the price will go up by 25%.

  • +8

Wow, bunch of hard to please people in here.
    Mince pies @ 1.25cents each.
    Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiinge.

    • +1

8 cents cheaper to not buy them :)

    • *1.33c each?

  • +1

10c crackers OOS, got the last ones. Still plenty of pies though.

  • 8c pies, what could possibly go wrong? 🙃
Maybe a good bowel cleansing 😲

  • I might pop into my local and buy a few packs and freeze them

    • They have like 3 months expiry.

      • Stuff lasts infinitely in the freezer.. but it’s probably not worth the electricity costs.

  • +1

    Thank you Coles New Workd

  • -1

They should just give these away to OzHarvest instead of selling for 8c.

  • What's in it? Any fruit peels? Just raisins? taste awful?

  • These do not look appetizing at all

  • The homeless should fill their carts.

    • +1

Poor vagrants need to buy lots of drinks afterwards to wash down the dry and sickly sweet 'pies'

  • +1

These are sickly sweet to the point of being inedible. I'm sure some people like them but I am yet to meet any.

I suspect they are primarily purchased for decoration, as items to make the table look nicer/fuller.

    • +1

Coles charging us 8 cents to offload their inedible lard

  • +1

Shouldn't these be called "minced fruit" pies?
