  • I bought Braun 9 back to September 2021. Braun 9 pro was out around October and was on special on black Friday. Although there is not much performance difference between 9 and pro 9 but pro 9 has better value with this price. I also have Panasonic Elv65. If you like a very clean shave, Panasonic elv65 is better. On the other hand, Braun 9 is a bit of more gentle but the closeness is the weakness.

    • Panasonic has always peformed far better in my experience.

      • Have a Panasonic 5 Blade myself and was awaiting the new 6 Blade model but it doesn't look like it is being released outside of Japan, hence considering this one.

Serious question: do people really spend $499++ for electric shaver?

Maybe I am doing it wrong and need better tech to shave.

    • moved from Braun series 7 to Philips oneblade

      best decision ever

      • 4 years ago, I bought a secondhand 5-blade Panasonic shaver on gumtree for $40. The guy who sold it must have been mad or maybe it’s just hard to sell them secondhand. These go for >$500 new. I wouldn’t spend that much, but this thing has changed my shaving life. After 4 years of use the blades are now fairly blunt, but the power of the motor makes up for the lack of sharpness. Before I bought this 5-blade shaver, I would normally go through a 3-blade Panasonic or Braun (~$100) in 3-6 months. Once the blades become dull, the low powered motor made it extremely difficult to shave. Buying the blades was nearly the cost of buying a whole new machine, so I went through about 7 machines in 5 years, and none of them came close to the usefulness of this larger shaver. I will be getting new blades for this eventually, but even with the blunt blades it is going well. Battery life still amazing too. It never drops below 90% before I recharge it. I think it’s ultimately better for your wallet and the environment to buy quality products like this that last, rather than continuing to buy and throw away low quality products for years.

Braun 7 is $199 on special
needs a new foil and cutter every 6 months (ideally less, but at 6m isn't too bad), which costs $50 if you're lucky.
needs to be charged after 7 shaves.

oneblade pro costs $60 on special. needs a new blade every 3-3.5 months, which costs around $17 (I buy 3 packs on Amazon). needs to be charged every 10-12 shaves

all in all, oneblade pro costs much less, lower running costs. takes less space, and works as all around grooming device serving 2 purposes

          win

          • @shabaka: Yeah sorry I wasn’t replying to you. Was trying to reply to cloud68, but hit the wrong “reply” button.

    • Stupid over inflated RRP just like the Oral B iOS tooth brushes

  • I paid $19 for my electric shaver and it works perfectly, how is this one better at $499 ?

If your stubble is light enough to use a $19 shaver indefinitely, then a $499 shaver maybe wouldn’t make that much difference to you. For someone like me with thick, hard stubble, that $19 shaver would make my morning routine (and my skin) hell.

      • My facial hair is as thick as rope and the $19 shaver plows through it with ease.

  • The best combination of using Braun 9 is wet shave with some shaving oil. I found the wet shave performance of Braun 9 is really good. I usually don't use the Panasonic lv65 for the wet shave as it cuts too close. Braun 9 is really poor with the dry shaving. I wish there is a shaver can have both advantages. Overall, Panasonic shaver is still value for money as it costs almost half of Braun 9. Braun 9 is also a good choice if you use more on wet shave. Please note that I like to shave daily so my view is only based on my shaving habit. There is also another bundle without the power case and $50 is cheaper. I didn't think the power case is necessary at all.

  • It says 549.$499 is one without the case.

    • $549-$50 using the coupon code.

      • Ok thanks. That works

  • Got this on the weekend. Returning under the 60 day money back.

Great shave compared to my Panasonic and old Braun 8 series Braun.

But it cuts the sack where as the other 2, it's a 20% chance of injury.

  • Don't think this is a good deal, Shaver Shop has this price many times. I think it was cheaper before boxing day($479).

    • This same model 9477CC?

      • Yep, same model.

  • is this the same one? its cheaper here - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/115045575524?

edit - its the same model just no power case which is stupid anyway. it comes with a leather case instead. i just bought it for $426 using afterpay + ebay plus.

any point in getting the power case?

  • I have been using braun electric shaver since 2002 as i always get cut and bleeding when use manual gillette razor. I started with braun syncro , then series 7 and just on blackfriday i bough 9 pro with close case charging version for $455 from shaver shop ebay.

Non of the braun shavers since 2002 give me clean shave in neck area and i had to use manual razor in neck area to clean the leftout hairs by braun in neck area.

The blade and cutter for series 7 last only 6-9 months and after that the blade get blund and everytime i had to spend $55 for series 7 replacemwnt foil and cutter from shaver shop.

I though series 9 would give a good shave but its still missed out hairs in neck side area.

I also bough 2 weeka ago the aldi shaver for $39 and for me it also seems doing same shave as braun.

I though of try philishave or panaaonic electric shavers but again i have to let akin adjust for the strokes.

  • Hello peeps I am new to the world of Electric shavers, but curious about these mentioned Panasonic 5 blade shavers.
Can anyone please share the particular model number of the Panasonic shaver please?

  • So is this the best electric shaver you can buy right now?

    • There is the Panasonic 6 Blade one but that is only available in Japan or as an import via Ebay etc.
