Frosting Glass for Front Doors. Recommendations Please 🙃

Good evening Ladies & Gentleman.

I am looking at frosting my front door glass panels. They are about 58cm wide by about 5.5 cm height. 16 glass panels to be done.

I don't mind doing a DYI but the range vary so I am seeking recommendations on a good product that I can do myself.

If an OzB member have tried and succeeded at this, could you point me in the right direction. I have searched it up and Bunnings seems to be an option although the reviews are up and down.

  • Bunnings has one that is static, so you can peel it off later or fix mistakes. Or you can call a window tinter and do it properly.

    • Yeah I've put in for some quotes but thinking its going to cost me a tonne more.
Was just searching for if there was an easy diy product.

Not frosted, but I used this when we rented a while ago. We were front property, and neighbours driveway went right along our living room, which had sliding doors and large kitchen window. I only applied it to near the top, so we could still see the trees w/o anyone seeing in. I used a clear, geometric pattern and it was like a prism (something like D06 or D10)- beautiful in the morning when the sun hit it.

This seller shows a lot of really nice designs. It was simple to apply. Just a thought.

    Good luck!

I used Pillar frost film from bunnings, and am happy with the outcome.

    This is how mine looks.

Go the film over the spray options….. If you screw up the spray, its a razer blade to clean it off to start again etc and spray is harder to get a more 'even' looking coating if you're new at applying it.

    Something like this

Lots of water/soap applied via a spray bottle to the front/back/all over the window and frame area (it all cleans up). Apply, get the bubbles out and then trim.

This is really extremely easy to apply. I mean, i wouldn't try on your first go doing a full 2m x 1m pane of glass, but I've done a half dozen glass cabinet doors, a garage window, etc. Your application should be super duper easy

I would recommend also getting one of the plastic yellow Bunnings wallpaper scrapers, they're better than a credit card for getting the air bubbles out.

Just use a nice even coating of dishwashing liquid/water sprayed onto the glass, and it's pretty straight forward
