[Pre Order] $450 Bonus Top-up Voucher for Trade-in Purchase of a Samsung Galaxy S22 Series Phone @ JB Hi-Fi

480

Saw this JB HI-FI Trade-in bonus at JB HI-FI online
Seems to match the Samsung trade-in bonus however, I get $50 more for my note 8 on JB's trade-in site.
Can also stack it with the JB gift cards for further discounts.

I'm unsure on their no-return policy on their trade-in if it charges you the bonus or just the trade in device value.

How do I use my BONUS top-up coupon?

Simply follow these 4 Steps:

  1. Get a trade-in valuation quote via JB Trade-in website
  2. If you accept the valuation, then complete the Trade-in process to get immediate access to your JB Trade-in Credit via email
  3. Your 'BONUS Top-Up*' email containing your unique one-time code will be sent to your same email address. You will also have the option to redeem your coupon that will be sent to the same email address.
  4. Apply both your Trade-in Credit and BONUS Top-Up voucher towards the purchase of the eligible device

* Bonus Top-Up voucher can only be applied to the eligible devices listed in the promotional offer. Devices not listed in this offer will not be eligible to receive the Bonus Top-Up value.

Interesting that you got $50 more for the Note 8. I got $45 less for an S21 plus.

    • +1

Same. I get $15 less for my S21 with JB.

    • S21 ultra got 745 on jb vs 650 on Samsung

      • +1

And so it is. JB must be pricing them according to flagship models then.

$740 for a 256GB S21 Ultra + $450 trade in + $100 gift card nets you $190 more compared to Samsung. Covers samsung care plus with change.

        • How does one get the $100 gift card? Any links would be appreciated cheers

          • @Italkdigital: I believe the email sent from JB has it. If not, try their online chat.

            • @sh4hp: gift card is not mentioned in the email as well

  • And, we'll have to charge your credit card for the value of the trade-in credit already issued.

if you want the old device to be returned before they complete the process

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/jbtradein#coupon

Your trade-in credit doesn’t expire. Once you receive your trade-in credit eGift Card, you have 5 business days to send us your old device. If after 14 days, we haven’t received your old device back, we will charge your credit card for the value of the trade-in credit provided.

    • +1

you have 5 business days to send us your old device

I received the bonus coupon and in that email, they have extended the return days requirements from 5 days up to 28 days. Guess probably to do with the preorder taking 3 weeks to get it out.

      • Hey, do you know if this is across the board or on a case by case basis?
I called up the sales team today and the guy said 5 days to send in the trade in phone and I was curious as to what people who don't have spare phones would do with the 3 week gap?

    • Can this be done in store instead of sending off ones trade-in mobile?

      • I believe you will have to post it by yourself at nearest AusPost as per the instructions. On the other note, just got a confirmation that I can have my old phone returned up to 28 days from the day you initiate trade-in (in my case today), rather than 5 days, just so to get in time to have the data transferred over.

        • Jb allows trade-in of 2x mobiles wouldn't know if one gets the $450 trade-in bonus voucher twice 2x $450 = $900 or only once at $450

Might try contacting Jbhifi about this, better for me as I'll rid of 2x mobile phones in one hit and makes the purchase outright of the S22 more affordable for me and no plan contracts with Jbhifi (I think?)

          • @Italkdigital: According to JB FAQs:
"Yes. You can trade-in multiple devices, up to the total combined trade-in credit of $2500. "

            • @gotcha: Doesn't say if one gets the $450 bonus voucher twice for each of the 2x mobiles traded (yes one get the credit trade-in for each but no mention of bonus voucher twice or once),

yupz I came across the same on Jbhifi web site why I asked about above question, might need to contact Jbhifi about this, I'm sure it be only once ($450 bonus voucher for 2x mobiles) then it's not worth trading 2x phones for the one S22, might as well go with 2x seperate trade-in phones for 2x seperate S22 phones, the $450 bonus voucher is a big kicker

              • @Italkdigital: you are absolutely right. No point to trade in 2 phone if not getting $450 twice.

                • @gotcha: Thanks, maybe buying 2x S22 mobiles, this is a great way to rid of old mobiles above estimated price without the B.S of eBay or Gumtree, even my new sealed S21 gets more here as a trade-in👍😁

  • JB Hifi is also offering $100 gift card if you pre order the S22 Series before 3rd March 2022. This was mentioned in the email I received this morning.

Seems like a good deal for me as Pixel 6 Pro cannot be traded yet directly with Samsung. I intent to sell my P6P privately, for close to $900 and pay $550 to Square/JB trade-in. While keeping the bonus of $450.

Works out cheaper than Samsung trade-in offer, plus I will get Pre order goodies.

    • +1

Where is the $100 gift card offer? I cant see it on their website

      • +2

Its not mentioned on the website, but the email I received has it on the banner.

        See the Screenshot

        • My email banner is different with no mention of $100 gift card, by chance if you clicked "view online" from your email banner is your online banner version the same as your email banner? with the $100 gift voucher mentioned, if so could you pass the weblink to us all

One might need to use click and collect and ask for the $100 gift voucher in store, unless it appears in-cart while online ordering

Any thoughts for this $100 gift card much appreciated

Edit; maybe the terms and conditions at the bottom of your email might point to a link or at least mention this gift card with terms and conditions

          • @Italkdigital: Yeah, i dun have that $100 banner too in my email. Otherwise no brainer this vs edu store. I do like that sky blue custom colour tho lol

        • I wonder why you got that deal. My newsletter doesnt include that

      • +1

It’s in the email. Must be purchased online and the gift card will be emailed 3 business days after order completion.

Edit: mobiguru beat me to it.

        • But you missed lolz,..

via the same email address that received this offer. e-Gift card

      • +1

ah so u would have had to subscribe to their newsletter to receive the offer

        • Haven't got the email yet even after subscribing to it

      • +1

        Its in the email.

Must make the online purchase using the same email address. So it would assume that your account username (as an email) is the same as the newsletter email subscription.

Offer ends 11:59PM AEDT 3rd March 2022. Must be purchased online. Must be purchased via the same email address that received this offer. e-Gift card will be emailed within 3 business days of order completion.

Based on this it won't count towards the sale, so have to use it on something else after.

    • +1

I also don't see any mention of a $100 gift card on the email I received from JB

      • +1

see my post above. Added a screenshot.

        • +1

Ah fair enough, thanks for the info, I just didn't get that offer haha

        • my email does not have gift card mentioned either ha ha

        • Is this a targetted offer? Looks like I dropped off JB's database and just resubscribed. Any idea how to claim this offer?

        • It may be targeted… I dun get the $100 offer too

          • @Bargain-er: Just signed up to the newsletter. No harm in waiting till the offer ends 3/03 ?

            • @bnmop1: Anyone get the email and still got denied by JB HiFi for the $100 voucher as they were not in 'their' list?

    • That's pretty smart play with the P6P as you end up with $800 off the retail price + $100 gift card. Are you sure if you don't send in the P6P they just charge you the trade in value and you get to keep the $450 bonus? FAQs seem to only refer to trade in bonus if you don't send in the used device but it is risky when they have your credit card details…

      • +1

Someone in the Previous P6P trade-in deal mention that they never returned there device and were only charged the trade in value. So hopefully its the same this time as well. Worst case if they charge me the bonus value I'll refer them to the FAQ-s and will do the same with my Financial Institution.

However I feel the Bonus is offered by JB and not by Square. Fingers crossed.

        • +2

Did this with the S21 trading in an old S9, direct with Samsung.

Got the bonus, got debited only the value of the S9 (~$100). Sold it on gumtree for a bit over ~$200.

        • Yup I did it for wife's pixel 6. Got trade in credit and bonus coupon. Only used the coupon in store. I was never got charged extra (the trade in) because I never used it.

          • @starburstyellow: Just wanted to check in a month later and confirm that they never ended up charging you for the credit. Did you have to contact them to get them to cancel the trade in process, or did they just do it automatically?

            • @webkit: Hey man. No, did not have to contact them. JB sent me an automatic email saying you didn't use it, and cancelled the gift card.

        • Yeah asked the same question below, yupz someone did the same on a previous Jbhifi deal were they nagged on the return of device, scroll down more details, I was also concerned about this

    • You are that sick of your P6P?

      • +2

Tons of issues and its not as refined as it should be. My P6P wifi also broke down after the Feb update.

        • +1

Ditto, and when I navigate on Google map, I got the Google assistance up to dial someone via Bluetooth, and it just go straight to the phone speaker. So frustrating I had to wiggle around to get it connect to Bluetooth audio while driving. Never happened on my s21 ultra before.

    • -1

      @mobiguru

Not sure if you'll get privately $900 for your Pixel, I tried $900 on Gumtree for my S21 256gb mobile,.. literally brand new sealed in its box with no results just idiots offering stupid amounts, eBay my other S21 256gb sealed brand new also I only got $780 minus eBays 13.4% commission, I've seen my S21 go as high as $1000 on eBay for a new 128gb version, so its certainly luck of the draw

Though wouldn't it be better for you trading through Jbhifi square with your Pixel?, well isn't $550 credit plus $450 voucher total $1000 over trying to sell privately better for you?, unless you have another cheap phone to trade-in? or are you gonna neg on trade for your Pixel phone as some do on Samsung deals, is that possible with Jbhifi? Love to know 😁

      • Mate I’m looking to sell directly to webuyback.com.au
They are offered me $880 for sealed P6P 128gb.

        I’m happy with that offer.

        • Thanks I'll try them out to for my S21 256gb sealed, cheers 👍 $670 only lol

Edit: isn't jbhi offer still better for the both of us?

          Yours: $550 trade-in credit + $450 = $1000 compared to $880 webuyback trade-in offer?

          Mine: $520 trade-in credit + $450 = $970 compared to $670 webuyback trade-in offer?

Don't understand what am I missing here? (someone help here lolz) is Jbhifi trade-in site already including the $450 bonus top-up voucher? (It says credit no mention of voucher), My understanding of OP's description it's seperate of credit value of ones trade-in mobile value and bonus trade-in $450 voucher is emailed later?

          • @Italkdigital: $450 is on top of your trade in value.
I’m not going to send my device to square trade up, instead will let then charge me $550.

As per there t&c they only charge the trade in value (not the bonus) if the device is not sent.

So if I sell me device else where like webuyback I’ll have extra $340.

            Hope that helps.

            • @Uncleroger: Ok got it now sorry about that,..

So you'll go through the trade-in process with Jbhifi to get the $450 bonus voucher, then neg on giving them your Pixel 6 pro and still keep the $450 bonus voucher,. then pay them back $550 your trade-in credit they'll offer and then sell it privately for $900 👍😁

One question I know people neg returning their phones with Samsung and no issues just have to pay back whatever the trade credit was

But by chance have you or anyone done this with Jbhifi and no issues like them negging on the $450 bonus credit as this deal, just wondering as I might take this up

            • @Uncleroger: Using my example when I did it few months ago for wife's pixel 6. As I didn't use the trade in credit $$, I was never charged it on my cc. After 3 weeks they cancelled the trade in credit monies. This was good for me, as I didn't want store credit.

              • @starburstyellow: But did you get to keep the bonus trade-in voucher whatever the value was then?, this deal its $450 bonus trade-in voucher (well I think you initiated trading your original device for the Pixel mobile? And then nagged on it?)

                • @Italkdigital: Yes. Just to be clear I was given a $500 voucher and a $50 trade in credit(for my pixel 3).

I used the $500 voucher to reduce the pixel 6 price and not use the $50 credit (I'm fact I sold the phone to CEX for $110). 3 weeks later I got an email saying they never received the phone. And as trade in credit was not used it is cancelled.

            • @Uncleroger: I was thinking of doing this, not returning the Pixel 6 pro but I've used the trade-in coupon of $550. Sell it on other site to nab the extra money but then again, I am concerned with JBs/ Square Trade pinging the $450 bonus trade-in…since my credit card is in their file…

              • @cloudie9: I hope it works and they only charge the trade in value.

                • @Uncleroger: Looks like JB may have updated the page, as per Lionchu post below https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11755516/redir

I will be sending in my P6P afterall.

                  • -1

@cloudie9: Keep your phone and use the coupon. They can try cancelling the coupon but you've already used it and the T&Cs say nothing about charging a coupon value. Also, what I quoted was from a FAQ and T&Cs are more factual then FAQs :)

              • @cloudie9: What other options are there then using a credit card? Though looks like it will work out by above comments

            • @Uncleroger: Do you reckon they charge 550 plus 450 as well if not sending the phone back?

              • +1

@Mighty man: So Square trade has finally charge my CC, and they have only debited the trade-in value of my handset i.e. $550 only. Pretty happy with the gamble.

  • +4

Keep in mind that the official Samsung store only offers $400 trade in for s22 Plus, and $350 for the S22. Jb Hifi however offers a $450 trade in coupon regardless of the s22 model you purchase.

  • +1

As a comparison through Vodafones trade-in deal, got $1110 total trade-in value (value $510 + bonus $600, JB similar but the bonus voucher is only $450) for my S21 256gb mobile but of course you'll have to take one of their plans as part of deal, minimum 12 mths at $38 per month Vodafone plan with 80gb of data unlimited calls etc, or $47.25 for 200gb data, well you get to pay off phone over 12, 24 or 36 months which might help some

I'm already on an Optus $50 per month 80gb plan plus calls etc,. so above would be worth my while swapping over to Vodafones $47.24 plan with 200gb of data or even $38 plan with 80gb data which will match my current Optus 80gb data and calls plan,.. so cheaper or more data per month to jump to Vodafones plans compared to my current Optus postpaid plan, of course there coverage one needs to take into account,.. everyone's in a different situation, well some might be on dirt cheap prepaid plans (swapping telco providers all the time) instead of postpaid but the Vodafone trade-in deal is tempting since the trade-in bonus voucher is $600 with Vodafone over what JB, Teltra, Optus and Samsung is offering at the moment👍

Edit: but might take this JBHIFI deal,. $450 bonus voucher deal as they allow trade-in with 2x mobile phones with the S22 outright (I think) so I can stay on my current $50 Optus postpaid plan

But it's not clear if one gets the $450 Bonus Top-up Voucher twice (one voucher for each mobile traded total $900 top-up vouchet) or only once (for once off trade-in voucher $450),

Does OP or anybody know about above question?

    • +1

I traded in three phones. One off coupon for the whole trade in transaction

      • Ok just to confirm,. so only one bonus trade-in voucher for no matter how many phones traded? (whatever the value was,.. well this deal is $450)

        • +1

Yes that the correct comprehension. If you can afford. Better do one phone tradein per s22 phone and try to sell them each.

  • Got my jbhi5 trade-in credit but didnt get the BONUS top-up coupon even after clicking redeem. Did this happen to anyone else?

    • +2

Happened to me, I emailed to Square and they email me the bonus code within 10 mins.

      Hope this helps.

    • Have you got your bonus? I am still waiting for mine even after contacting them.

      • +1

Try contacting via email and not the online form

      • There is an obscure link in the trade-in email that is actually the image that shows the additional $450. The text is badly worded.

Clicking on this open the trade-in page again. Don't need to do anything here.

Head back to your email and another email should appear.

I actually got it again several hours later.

        Also… the trade-in value is a pre-paid card + pin, the bonus $450 is a coupon code.

        • I did click that link but at that time the website was down. Clicking the link layer said there is already a coupon assigned to this order.

  • +1

Based on this link. Are we also eligible for the bonus gift offer when pre-ordering with JB?

    • Yes, I'm pretty sure. That makes the deal ever better than EPP or EDU stores if you want the bonus gifts.

  • Actually can see on JB trade-in web page one can trade-in 2x mobile phones at once towards a S22,..

But it's not clear if one gets the $450 Bonus Top-up Voucher twice (one voucher for each mobile traded) or only once (for once off trade-in voucher)

Does OP or anybody know about above question?

  • I want to jump on this deal but it says the trade in must be returned within 5 business days, and the S22 series won't be released for about 3 weeks (4th March).
I can't be without my phone for that long.

The JB deal goes until 20th March and the Samsung preorder bonuses end 3rd March, so looks like the windows for people like me would be to make the purchase as close to the 3rd as possible, and hope that there is sufficient stock to cover your pre order.

    • +1

I did the trade-in this morning, the email I got said the return window has been extended to 28 days instead of the regular 5 days, so you're safe to pre-order now.

  • +1

Can this be used in conjunction with the JB BYO Mobile plans. i.e, get the port in $69/m plan + $300GC, $450 Trade-in Bonus + $280 Trade in (for my S20) would bring the S22+ 256gb down to $619 ($1,649-$300-$450-$280); am I incorrect with anything here??

    • Actually in theory yes, because the $300 is a port in offer..so you could go and port in a now for example, and then use the 300 voucher to preorder with the 300 gift card as part of the payment method for the order of the S22x.

    • the port in is just a gc so should be fine but you would need to port in to get the gc first.

  • +1

Anyone having problem with the trade in website? Can't seem to load up on my PC

  • Isn't it more value in taking the samsung offer and getting the free bonuscare? I get $60 more for my S20 FE from JB but the samsung care is worth $150

      • hes talking about samsung care.

    • I guess Samsung Care one less worry,. though I've learnt the hard way best protection is the wallet style covers that cover the front screen also, cried when from hip height dropped my Note 9 and hit the right corner of phone and cracked corner of screen, nothing big which had screen protector and back case protector, only, wallet cases makes one phone feel really bulky but I've got use to it and one less worry, plus bonus it holds my credit cards and license, so again one less worry lolz

  • +1

this offer doesn't allow you to activate the BONUSCARE offer?

    • Love to know too👍😁

  • Quite annoying, because of a cracked rear glass my S9 is considered worthless and therefore not eligible to get the 450$ at all…

    • I think you get the trade in bonus on the Samsung store even with a cracked screen, the phone itself is just worth $0.

      Worked for my smashed s8+

      • +1

Unfortunately not. The fineprint shows that the device must have a value of more than 0$…

        • +1

Just say it's not cracked, get the top up bonus and buy @ JB. Sell cracked phone on eBay.

    • My Note 9 512gb varient with a small cracked screen, top right hand corner so just made trade-in with a $95 trade-in credit, so plus the $450 bonus trade-in voucher works out to be total $545, certainly more then I'd get selling privately or on eBay, certainly this deal is a great way to rid of old phones way above there actual worth, even almost new phones if one got a past great deal on them, My Samsung Galaxy S21 256gb version bought for $672 during Telstras first Telstra day deal ($520 trade-in credit and $450 bonus = $970),

      thanks OP and Jbhifi👍😁

    • @daniel1301,.. Don't mention it's damaged at all and you might qualify,.. the point is to get the $450 trade-in voucher and just neg sending your old S9 mobile for trade-in

      • +1

Would JBHIFI also charge the $450 on top of the phone trade credit if you don’t send the phone in?

        • Read all the comments here about past trade-in deals with Jbhifi if one negged on not sending their trade-in phones, but so far no Jbhifi has not so far charged anyone the bonus trade-in voucher (this deal $450 trade-in voucher) but hey you could be the first lolz PS: document all dealings with Jbhifi just incase you could need them 😉
