    Dupeeeeeee

    • +1

Haven't seen this particular deal been posted, only the mobiles one

      • +1

It was mentioned in the comments of the other one, but I don't think that makes it a dupe.

on $95/Month & Above Home Internet Plans @ Telstra

Is the $95 plan their NBN 12/1 one?

    • -1

      50/17

    • +2

It's 50/20. But that doesn't matter unless you plan to stay on… most will move on again… so go for the fastest they give.

    • -1

there are 25/4, 50/17, 100/17 and 250/22 for $2/2 months. But not sure if there is any hidden cancellation fee.

      • +1

You are referring to Telstra's typical evening speed. The actual speed tiers are 25/5, 50/20, 100/20 and 250/25.

  • I have NBN hence no need for a 'modem' can I get the $2 plan, tell them I don't want their 'router' and then not need to return it?

I presume not since the CIS says the service includes a standard phone service and 4G fail-over (which I presume applies even if you don't want those things).

    • I don't think you will need to return it. They didn't want mine shipped back

      • They will eventually catchup with U. I had to enquire about a mobile plan. They had a look if I had an existing account which I did and there was a note owing about the router. They couldn't charge my cc as I had removed it from their system. So they told me all I had to do was return it to any Telstra Shop. Which I did and that was settled.

    • For new customers, there’s no additional cost if you stay connected for 24 months. If you leave before 24 months, you’ll need to return your modem or pay a $200 non-return fee.

      • you’ll need to return your modem or pay a $200 non-return fee.

What if you don't want the modem in the first place…

      • I had a terrible time with this with Live Chat insisting there is no option to return the modem and trying to charge a $192 fee.

I had to provide screenshots of the offer before they would relent. 2+ hours of my time though.

  • Its going to take them nearly 2 weeks to rout the connection and why should i change my existing 1 when i pay 65 including home phone without a term.

    • +1

      Then dont

  • +2

Not even worth the trouble to save the $200 over 2 months. Hard pass, now I remember why I left them all those years ago.

    Scheduled Maintenance
We're carrying out some updates to our shop.

Monday to Friday: Please try again after 1 am AEDT.
Saturday & Sunday: Please try again after 2 am AEDT.

    • save the $200 over 2 months

Your real "saving" is your current monthly internet plan for 2 month minus $2.
(Plus the time/inconvenience cost to switch out and back, as well as the potential forfeiting of your current plan price)

  • Only for new customers so you need to leave Telstra and the. Come back. You will be subject to fees for signing up though?

    • No fees, $0* connection. Depends, they will let you know when signing up.

  • +2

I highly recommend you avoid Telstra NBN.

In addition to what I mentioned previously. Telstra Facebook support cancelled my NBN account by mistake and couldn’t reconnect me.

    • Mine was completely fine.

  • +3

Don’t forget $42 cashback from SB.

  • Is that means i can sign-up now with a modem, then return it after 2 months. The total bill will be $2? :)

Home internet deal: $2 for 2 months on selected home internet plans. Telstra Smart Modem 3 included for use with plan. For new customers. Monthly discount ends early if you change plans. If you leave within 24 months, simply return your modem or pay $200 non-return fee. Plan prices may change.

    • +1

They didn’t even ask me to return the modem.

      • but did they charge you? lol…

        • +1

          Nope.

          • @hawkeye93: but they're holding your credit card, they can do anytime in the future, how to remove it :D

            • +1

@s12321: Update to a virtual/one-time card like Zip. Finger crossed. Btw I’m using Debit card so no way to charge me as I only transfer money to the linked account whenever needed.

      • Telstra Smart Modem 3 is a remarkably capable Wifi6 modem/router so if you can really get one from this deal then that's pretty good!

        • Yeah, mine in previous deal was just the 2nd version. Still good enough though.

        • Yep wow…last deal I got the old Gen 2

      • How long were you connected for though, did you cancel after only 2 months?

        • +1

2 months and jumped to other free deals. So 2 months on Telstra, 1 with Aussie, and now 2 with Origin. Will set up to be back to Telstra on this deal at a later day. End up paying $4 in total.

          • @hawkeye93: Nice, Telstra chat said I will need to take mine back to a Telstra store if I didn't want to be charged.
They were suggesting the fee would be $216 which deducts by $9 each month you are with them.

            • +1

@Wolfy: That's what they said when I disconnected. Never received any email about that.

  • Can that be activated on a future date, say 1/6, if signing up today?

Also, does Telstra do credit check on these promo plans?

    Thanks

    • Yes, you can schedule the connection for later until 7/5.

Yes, Telstra does a credit check as well when signing up, similar to 5G plans.

      • Thanks for your reply. Credit check is a bummer! On origin now for two free months, no credit check so far.

      • I'm signing up and the only option is to disconnect my current service. No future date. It's possible the future date comes later in the signup process. I don't want them to DC my current service though.

        • I chose to disconnect my current service and do the future connection. Then I can live chat and get them to activate my other NTD instead of disconnect my current provider and most likely push it forward at the same time. It depends on your tech type.

      • You can make the order now, then they delivery a new modem in 2 days.
Can you use new modem to your current nbn?

        • Yes you can use the modem from the day you get it! It has 4g backup limited to 25/5. You can try the modem with your current provider and connection too!

      • +1

Chat doesn't let you activate at a future date. The automatic signup process doesn't either. You have to agree to let them disconnect your current service.

        • that means @puls8r case is no nbn service is active or detected. :)

          • @s12321: I signed up and said disconnect my current service at a later date. It all went through no problems. I have 2 NTDs here so I will make sure Telstra activates the correct one with live chat instead of disconnecting my NTD with MORE on it.

edit: got off live chat, they can't help with nbn activations, got given a number to call Digital Team, open til 9pm so will try later.

            • @puls8r: There’s no way I would trust Telstra to actually do that.

              • @kipps: I have faith! I'm getting a call back on Monday, if not by lunch then I'll call them back and see what's happening. Will let you know if they stuff this up haha

              • @kipps: they stuffed it haha, churned my connection but at least it was on the date I chose so all good.

                • +1

@puls8r: They’re at least consistent. Consistent at screwing up.

  • Not sure if Telstra's chat monkeys are serious but here's what they said:

"If yes, as of now, this promotion is for new NBN connection which makes your account not eligible since you mentioned you already have an active NBN service.

If you will order now and wants to activate it in the future using the same address, it will not work because the system will detect that you already have an active NBN service."

Edit: Nevermind, they seem confused that I had an active service with a different provider.

    • The chat "monkeys' can be clueless at times. Just lead them in the right direction.

  • I was confused as to why when I tried to checkout, it is asking for a Home Phone, whether I want a new number or keep existing. My address is FTTP
Went to their chat and asked about it, they said their connection requires a phone line.
Am I missing something? Like where would I even connect a home phone if it's FTTP?
Currently with ABB and previously Superloop, never had to get a home phone.

    • Telstra include VoIP for free! Unlimited calls basically but you must use their modem as it's hard coded into it. I chose new number and it went through fine. I've also been with SL and ABB, ABB can supply VoIP if you want but charge extra for it.

      • Telstra include VoIP for free!

But they won't tell you your VOIP SID and password.

        • Nope they don't, I haven't looked into whether this info can be obtained somehow from the modem though.

    • telstra internet connections come with a home phone. I've brought this up multiple times with the higher ups as to the reasons, and no one can provide a logical one. Just don't connect it up (if you want to go on a telstra plan)

      • ahh fair enough

  • They say that to setup the service I need to plug in the modem. Does that mean if I don't want to start the service for a few weeks I can just wait until then to plug it in?

    • No.

    • You can schedule the connection date that's it. You can't just use another router or PC to get connected, you MUST connect the Telstra modem for it to recognise the connection. Delaying plugging it in is just wasting your month.

      • Not true. I never plugged mine in. You can use any router, or in my case, no router at all.

        • OK thanks, learn something new everyday. That's great news then.

  • Anyone has any success of choosing a later connection date without disconnecting the current provider?

    • Op claimed here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11978575/redir that they agreed to the disconnection, and asked chat to activate at a later date. My experience with Telstra support tells me this is a terrible idea, but if you want to try it, go ahead.

      • Yes, i saw that reply. I'll wait and see if any anyone got any new lead later today. Thank you.

    • I spoke to the customer care, was told that the plan starts today and cannot start at a later date.

    • I just put through my order with a connection date of 25 April. Still connected to my current provider.

Clicking the message us does nothing.

That's no good, they're the only ones that are value and you don't pay out the modem. The other plans make you pay $216 for the modem.

  • Oh crap I totally missed this
