Coating (DIY or Product) for Glass Furniture

Can OzBargain recommend a coating that I can make up or purchase to minimise the amount of cleaning, particularly of oils and dust, on glass furniture? I currently work in a home office with smoked glass tables which I cannot replace currently and are a nightmare to keep clean.

There's a few "coating" products out there that claim to protect and reduce cleaning requirements for glass (eg Enduroshield from Bunnings), but they're a tad pricey, are marketed more for domestic or car windows, and I suspect may not last anywhere near as long as claimed with surfaces that are frequently touched such as glass tables. However, I'm happy to try them if someone here has used them successfully on glass furniture or surfaces other than windows.

you could always just use some kind of tablecloth, like some restaurants do to cover their chipboard tables

  • Mr Sheen?

  • Dust is dust. There are no products that magically deflect it.

  • I've used Eduroshield on a glass shower screen and also a glass pool fence and it works well. Water beads off and it does stay cleaner and makes the surface easier to clean. It would probably be cheaper to use a car sealant on the glass table, it pretty much does the same thing.

    • Ok for water setting on the table, but how well does it work for fingerprints that have sweat, grease etc in them.

      • It makes a difference with that too. Makes cleaning fingerprints and grease marks much easier.
