If you go on Facebook and Gumtree you’ll find out

  • Wow what are the odds, I just sold my Xbox One S 1tb as new condition for $220 cash on Gumtree 1 hour ago.

  • How much can an unpatched nintendo switch sells for these days? Low Serial number that is

  • +2

If you wanna solve the issue of lowballers/non responders.

Once you have a few inquiries into the item you're selling. Add them all in to a group chat and simply write "start bidding"

Weans out the fakers and boosts your price.

  • i wonder how much for a xbone gears of war controller?

    • Just note that any special edition controller or console is valued exactly the same as its regular version. Might be better selling it elsewhere if you're not in a hurry.

An Xbox One controller trades in around $22 (base rate) IIRC.

      • damn man such new technological controllers are only worth scraps!?

  • nice to know i can still dispose the PS4 OG 1TB for $253? (EB World Level 2 only)
i know this is the maximum they will offer, but as long as i give the unit, power cable, hdmi cable and controller, ill get the $253?
im assuming they would test the unit to see if it is indeed 1TB?
what do you guys usually get from EB Games credit?
    =)

  • Is PS4 Slim 500GB for $250 worth it? I'm keen to buy PS5 with the credit.
I do have 3 extra controllers - not sure if its better to get the trade in for them as well. I think we can use them to play PS4 games on PS5 right?

  • New to eb trade-in here - do you need to hand in the controller as well?

    • Console + controller + power cord + HDMI cable

    • This is answered at the top of this page.

meaning console must be complete and fully working with a controller, power cord and HDMI cable to get full amount.

    • +1

In the past you could not provide a controller and you’d lose a smallish amount on the trade. Think it was $30-$40ish reduction.

      • What if you have aftermarket controller?

        • That's fine afaik

          • @theguyrules: I'm pretty sure you can't bundle in a shitbox wired MadCatz controller and get the same value.

        • Really? I know they don't care about whether power cord and HDMI cable are original, but I thought it needed to be genuine controller?

  • What do they give for a Xbox series S? I have a Series X as well now so don't use the S anymore. I would like to get a PS5 if I'm ever quick enough.

  • The weirdest thing is that the original 2001 XBoxes go for $180 to $300 on eBay.

    I guess they're modded?

    • +2

Yeah. Probably my favourite console to date. Remember the old days or renting a game from blockbuster, putting the disc in, copying it to the hard drive and never needing it again. Then the emulators started coming out. I loved the Duke controller. Good memories.

    • +1

The weirdest thing is that the original 2001 XBoxes go for $180 to $300 on eBay.

      Why is that weird?

  • +3

Tempted to take advantage of this now , but then I'll be without a console until PS5 comes in stock. 1st world dilemma.

  • How to you move up tiers? Any quick/cheap way to do it before trading in?

I have 2 consoles to trade in but only tier 1 after being a member for 8-10years…

I clearly don't shop there enough and always forget to use my account anyway!

    • +1

You can get some bonus points for completing your EB world account. That's what I did to push me from level 2 to level 2.

      • Thanks for that, can confirm it gives you another 150 points towards next tier, sadly still at tier 1 though.

I'm hoping they will trade in for cash and then maybe I can buy what I want first for the points gain and then do the trade in at next tier level.

  • :( nsw only offers credit to spend on the day.
Act also only offers credit but to spend whenever
    Damn no cash :(

  • What do you guys do with your old PS3s?

    • Jailbreak them.

      • A specific model that is not jailbreakable! (remember trying to do it when I got it second hand back in 2015) :(

        • +1

Maybe look into again. There's been different methods used in the last 7 years and plenty can be jailbroken now quite easily.

  • +1

If I wasn't using my PS4 to remote play my PS5 I would jump on this. Is not perfect but surprisingly decent enough to get some Elden Ring play from the bedroom.

  • I wonder if they will also give some credits for kinect which still working.

    • +1

They sell them for $28, so you'll get basically nothing (assuming they take it at all).

  • +1

Just traded in a PlayStation in Qld and can confirm full cash payment.

    • Everytime I've gone with cash instead of credit they deducted 20% off the total.

      • +3

Just incase anyone else sees this. I am wrong. They got rid of the penalty last year.
Just got the money on my card with no deduction.

  • Thanks for this just took a ps4 pro in that I bought a couple of weeks back for $170 and the guy upgraded me to level 2 which got me $330 cash.

    • Did you get points for trading in console as well ?

      • No idea I don’t really buy much from eb games. I just took a switch in and got $264 for that as well.

      • +1

Yes, double points for all preowned purchases and sales.

        • What do I do with the points?

          • +2

@ausbob71: Eb world mate. Check the benefits of the different levels. One of which is additional value when trading in.

    • How did the guy upgrade you?

With the trade I’d get to level 3 but obviously I was still level 2 at the time of trade..

      • No idea I didn’t have my card and he looked up my account and said he would upgrade me to level 2 which would give me 10% extra.

  • Any idea what price EB would do for an unopened PS5….long story short i ended up with 2 of them at Christmas and i really have no desire to deal with the marketplace…So i've just kept it boxed up waiting for something else to trade it for like the PSVR2 or a PS5 Pro but who knows how long before those are released.
Also i wanted to trade a PS4 Pro with 2Tb SSD will they pay more for the extra storage?

    • trade a PS4 Pro with 2Tb SSD will they pay more for the extra storage?

Nope. They just check the model, and treat it as stock.
Best bet would be to swap old hdd back in, and hold onto the SSD

    • Post it on Classified and/or where in NSW are you located? Happy to take if you aren’t too far.

  • +1

Thanks OP for posting, my girlfriend finally decided to get rid of her Xbox one 1TB today and used my level 2 EB world account to get $176 for it. Was an easy process and was in and out within 5 minutes. Way better than selling on marketplace!

  • What's the best way to get gift cards? Was thinking I'd trade in my PS4 Pro, take the store credit, then plonk it down for an Xbox Series X and pay the remainder with gift cards. No problems there right?

    • That’s all good. You can get discounted gift cards through plenty of banks i.e Macquarie, Suncorp and there’s rewards programs through AGL, Budget Direct etc. If you are linked to any of those.

    • Just get cash like this comment then use that cash to buy discounted gift cards. More bang for your buck

      • Yeah good call. If I can get full cash I will!

  • +2

Can confirm I got the full trade amount back on my card in Northcote Vic. Also an additional PS4 controller with level 3 was 28.75

    • +1

Is it even worth it? Might as well just keep it for PS4 game via backwards compatibility.

      • +1

I dont have a ps5 and I'm not sure I'll get one. I got about $390 for a PS4 pro, 2 controllers, monster hunter and Diablo. Pretty happy with that seeing as how I bought it all off marketplace for $350 a year ago 😅

  • -1

Well, I just sold my ps4 pro on gumtree for $420

    suck it EB

    • How. I barely managed to get over 300 and there are heaps online for 350 at least in Melbourne.

      • -1

It was 8.01 so that might have helped ;)

  • +5

Just traded in a console at Chadstone, Vic and they straight up offered me a refund to my credit or debit card - they didn't even mention store credit or gift card as an option.

  • Would have been keen to trade up Xbox one s if they had any Xbox one x in store.

  • Nice and easy way to finally get rid of the PS4s I had laying around. Thanks OP!

  • Just traded xbox S 1 TB in Tarneit VIC store. Staff was amazing and the guy told me to insert debit card into EFPOS machine for quicker trade in money. Which was true. Got money instantly.

  • Wonder how much they would give me for a Xbox series s🤔

  • This worked out brilliantly for me. Got $330 for my PS4 Pro (cash) and trade in value for my games was surprisingly high.

I got more back for several games than I paid for them. Far Cry 4 cost me $10 and got me $17 for example. I expected the games to be basically worthless but the value was good. Cheering.

  • EB Games Broadway only offered trade-in credit to use then and there.

  • +1

Is there a limit on how many you can trade in. I traded 3x Friday then today the bloke claims it's 1 per customer and if I trade in more need an ABN and business account. Sounded like a bunch of bollocks to me.

    • Sounds like your typical (not all) EB employee i.e absolutely no idea what they’re on about.

Having said that, I’d be a bit wary of someone trading in 4 consoles over a 3 day period but at the end of the day, it’s not in the T&C’s or fine print.

      • Ended up trading it at different store. Have now traded in 10 so can see why they make think it's a bit suss.

        • +2

I am surprised you traded in 10 and only 1 store stopped you!

I traded 5 consoles over a week period at 4 stores (basically convinced my brother and cousins to trade in theirs but I scanned my membership for carrots).

In my last receipt, the trade in price was incorrect and upon bringing it to their attention this morning, was told that since I've traded in more than once, they don't necessarily have to honour the boosted price. Didn't notice it at the time the transaction happened since I traded games etc as well.

The system apparently flagged my account. I hope this doesn't mean no level 5 this year :(

I said to them I couldn't find anything in their T&Cs prohibiting trading in more than once and they said it's manager's decision if you want to go beyond him, you need to bring this to the head office.

Just one of many inconsistent and made up policies with EB.

          • @tajid: This was at box Hill in Melbourne. At that point I had only traded in 3. I then traded in more and no other stores mentioned anything.

        • wow, 10 consoles??
Did you happen to live outside of NSW, so you can get cash for the trade?
If that's the case, I can understand why they are being a bit suspicious.

I previously was about to go crazy on the marketplace for ps4 and ended up only trade 2 as I'm afraid that I can only put so much store credit (NSW) into any pre order.

edit: sorry, just refresh the page again and see you're in VIC. That makes sense now :D

          • +1

@cariDisc: Yeah I pretty much went crazy on marketplace combined with my increased trade in value level. Went for a drive and just picked up a heap of the way e.g. slims for 200 or 220 with extra consoles and games for xboxes as well. In total made like 500 for a few hours work but had to go to multiple EB games in the end.

            • @gottacatchemall: Good for you.

I dont know why NSW doesnt offer cash for the trade.
One more reason to move out of it I guess :D

Got $32 more for the young fella’s Xbox One S than what I paid for it 4yrs ago. Traded in a couple of games and an extra controller and grabbed him an XSS for $130.

    Not too bad at all.

  • +1

$5 was deducted from total as the usb charging cable for controller was left at home. Oh well still good enough.

  • Traded two PS4 slim 500gb and got $500 - now I'm level II on EB Games, wish I got there before the trade. Thanks OP for the post.
Now need to get two PS5's, one for myself and one for my bro-in-law.
