  • It'll be some sort of an Amex card.

  • amex discovery card… you get points (1 point/$1) and bonus points for using the card and buying qantas products / services at the start (up to 7500) and no annual fee. I don't worry about the interest rate because I pay off the amount due in full before the due date. It's a good discipline to learn and keep.

You can get more info from the Qantas website.

    • cheers for that, i dont think i will have any problem with balancing it

  • After compare some card on http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/partners/card

I think Woolworths Everday Rewards Qantas Credit Card win over American Express
    Qantas American Express Discovery Card

Both offers similar things, however WoW card has 11 days "extra interest free on purchases" and lower interest rate and "Earn an extra point for every $1 spent over $30 in one transaction at participating Woolworths Group stores"

    what do you think?

      1. $89 annual fee vs free.
      2. To earn $100 worth of gift cards you need 14,500 points. Let's assume you don't immediately get the 2,500 bonus points with Amex Discovery because you need to buy/use a Qantas service, but you get the 5,000 points when you spend $300. Woolworths card now offers 11,000 more bonus points. To get $89 "worth" Woolworths needs to do better than Discovery Card by 12,905 points.

At the end of the day, you will need to decide if the 11 days of extra interest free period is worth $89/year. The bonus points is a one-off thing. The extra point for every $1 spent over $30 is not relevant / material unless you do all or A LOT of shopping at Woolworths Group stores.

      • doh it doesnt shows the 89 on qantas website, oh well

        • hey, if you decide you want to go with amex, can I be your referror? I get bonus points etc, if you spend $500 within the first two months.

Just PM me and I will send you an email with the details, if you are interested. No pressure. :) Thanks.

  • If you want a 15,000 point sign up bonus, get the $149 AMEX Platinum Edge credit card which also gets u a free domestic flight plus luggage on Virgin and when you sign up. The ticket is transferable so you can always sell it to someone else if you don't want to take the flight and get $400+ cash best for Perth people - http://www.perthhacks.com/2010/10/amex-platinum-edge-credit-…)

  • Any particular reason why you asked for Qantas FF points?

I had the Woolworths Qantas credit card and had big plans for us to start using Woolworths and Big W…but we shop more at Coles, Target & Kmart. I just ditched the Woolworths card for the Coles Mastercard. With it, you get 2 flybuys points for every $1 spent everywhere and an additional 1 normal flybuys point for using Coles, Target, etc (scanning flybuys barcode on back of credit card). We redeem 2000 points for $10 flybuys dollars which we can use for a discount on our grocery shop.

Go to http://rewardscompared.com/cards and put in your average monthly spend to find the best card for you. Note that rewards from Jetstar cards can only be used for Jetstar flights.
