JB are clearing out the Series 6 model - $399 for the 44mm versions. There were quite a bit there but they are starting to clear out (in fact, I think there is only one left) … get cracking before they are all gone.

me too…. I tried all the methods mentioned in the 19 pages in apple developer forum… none of them is working…. Called apple, apple says Genius bar can’t fix it, they said they will send me a box to put apple watch in, then send back to them. After they upgrade the firmware they will send it back….

I had this issue myself with 15.5 on two iphones. I tried about 20 times using family mode using all the suggested things in the 19 pages in the apple developer forum - no luck. I waisted a few hours on this and tried online tech support with no progress either. I ended up making a booking with genius bar but on the morning of my booking I ended up with covid19 so had to cancel. Anyway, in lockdown I spent some more time after looking at the developer forum comments I realised that the suggestions to make the update work were usually involved changing things which ultimately decreased the connectivity of the phone. So, then I did something a bit different than I had tried previoulsy. 1) I unpaired my own watch. 2) I started pairing the new watch with both cellular and wifi ON for the phone as per normal. 3) Waited until I got to the message "Unable to update", then hit retry a couple of times, which all failed. 4) Instead of hitting retry again, I went to the iPhone setup screen and turned OFF WIFI, and then I noticed the cellular had dropped back to 3G (so not even 4G), 5) Returned to the watch application and hit retry again and this time the update check passed and proceeded to download. 6) Once this update was able to proceed I went ahead and re-enabled the WIFI and the updated download fine. 7) I continued to setup the watch as my own. 8) Once done, I unpaired it and set it up in family mode since unpairing does not revert back to older firmware version. 9) Watch worked fine after all that.
I believe the success in getting the update check to pass ultimately involves hindering the iphones internet ability at the moment the firmware version check is done.
I ended up buying a second Apple 6 watch which I will likely need to repeat this process again on next week when it arrives.
I got the second apple watch today (same product red model). Once again, it had the same update firmware issue. I tried again using the same solution I documented above - didn't work initially. I exited the pair, reset the watch and then I tried again with wifi on the phone turned on, but cellular turned off, and the software update went through. The setup process on phones with the latest IOS is definitely flakey. If you can get this software update step it is all good.
Also experiencing this issue, I tried a bunch of different internet connections with no success.
Edit: Managed to get it to work by setting it up on an old iPhone running ios14. This version of iOS does not force you to update to the latest watchos, using the shipped version of watchos seems to work.
my order just got canceled
I had my order cancelled 3 times. I had gone into a jbhifi store to ask why this happened and they explained online was seperate from actual stores. So I found a number to call (135 244) and eventually spoke to someone who explained as I was a new customer that they needed to verify me before a purchase could be made. She fixed this instantly and I was able to place my order within minutes and my watch was delivered 48 hrs later. I don't know why jbhifi online and store are separated or why they don't use 2 factor authentication.
I'm not a new customer, just changed my email address.

Goodness me ppl, OzBargain is not a site to take advantage of the clearance and reposting it for your own profit margin. If you need it buy it. If not let others who need it more buy it
It's dangerous though. If the buyer tried it, decided to return it (using the free return from PayPal or feeBay Plus), the seller could end up with a second hand phone.
They could’ve listed it for the same price $549 on eBay at least since eBay is currently running a 0% variable fees

@BargainsGrabber: I saw that too but I think that's a targeted promo for ebay plus only.
The thing that most people don't know is that normally if someone charges a bit more on ebay, they are not scalping but just breaking even, this is as ebay charges almost 14% in fees. If a seller were to charge the same rrp on ebay, they would effectively be losing that same percentage out of pocket.

just wondering can I take the watch swimming, I heard mixed comments from people about it, some are a bit wary of taking this to the pool, some are completely comfortable.
The apple care is another $99 for 2 years which is nearly 20% of the watch price not sure if that's worth it..
I've surfed at least twice a week with apple watches for the last six years, not one problem ever. I lock it before I paddle out and rinse in fresh water after surfing. Enjoy.

I should have returned it but didn’t. The watch had dead pixels in it, spent an hour charging and updating the software too, soo I’ll have to exchange it

Same issue with one of mine.. other one activated fine.. no issues, it’s actually a software bug with iOS 15.. tried everything to get it running after searching google,YouTube etc.. but can’t get past the update screen because it says I’m not connected to internet.. booked appointment with genius bar tomorrow to get it working..
