      • They rang me when i was sleeping yesterday at 5pm and i thought that 49 per month for lastest handset is acceptable. Now i found that it is too expansive (relative to my income) and i have galaxy note already.

You have a cooling off period seeing it is a phone call deal, so just cancel it.

        • Usually how long is the cooling off period

I thought 1 of the appealing factors was that Android/Samsung mobile was a cheaper option? but a 16gb iPhone 4S is only $689 from kogan?

      1. The Samsung Galaxy S III just launched. The Apple iPhone 4S is an older product. Economics and a pricing strategy dissimilar to Apple means that this price will eventually fall with time.
      2. 'Cheaper option' is not the best terminology in my opinion. Rather, 'flexibility', 'choice' and 'variety' are more appropriate. The Galaxy S III is Samsung's flagship with the latest hardware and software, and commands a premium over its other offerings. For the budget conscious, there exist the Galaxy S II, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Fit (and more if you include other Android manufacturers).
      3. Discrimination by price alone is kind of silly when the two devices offer completely different user experiences (whether one is better or worse than the other it's completely up to the end user).

For flagship products it makes business sense to use price skimming methods to maximise profits.
There's always a small section of the market who are early adopters and don't mind paying the full RRP for the device — they are already set on buying the phone even though it is essentially the priciest phone on the market.

"There's always a small section of the market who are suckers and don't mind paying the full RRP for the device…".

        Fixed for you.

"There's always suckers who don't mind paying any amount to be seen with the latest device…"

          fixed. ;)
