    Hi,

Etihad here, I was just doing some bargain browsing when I saw my name mentioned here. I was definitely excited that one of my ozbargain members would choose me….little ol Etihad to fly with.

To answer your question though - We're an airline. When have you known us not to get every damn dime out of you in every way possible.

If you want further clarification contact us on 1300 532 215

  • I booked recently with a Mastercard (CBA) and they didn't seem to charge me any fee.

  • Not for Etihad, but I’d bet Westpac would slug you a foreign transaction fee. They do for Book Depository (unlike Amex)

I paid for upgrades whilst overseas using my Westpac card. I was not charged any foreign transaction fees as the ticket was ticketed in AUD. But if your question is about Ethihad charging credit card fees, if they have a policy of charging credit card fees, they will charge it irrespective of the card issuer. For example, purchased tickets with Virgin, and they charged credit card transaction fees, which has got nothing to do with Westpac.

    • Good to know. You can never be sure.

Them charging in AUD is irrelevant to the fact that the bank would charge an international txn fee or not. What matters is if the transaction was processed in Australia or not, and not the currency you're charged in. Certain companies that bill you in AUD still would process the transaction overseas, been bitten by a few travel companies before.

    • thanks for the answer, usually a foreign transaction fee is not mentioned upfront and it will only appear on the statement after the transaction take place and we do not know the amount that will be charged either. That is what concerns me the most. I am ok with credit card fee as it is mentioned upfront prior to payment is made , so at least we know what are the extra amount we paying .

  • Is there a transaction fee for cash?

    (young'uns wouldnt know what that is… )

  • Never charged transactions fees for Etihad tickets using the following :

    • Citi Rewards Card
    • Westpac Altitude Platinum QF
    • ANZ FF Flyer and the Rewards one.
