You could always have made the requisite word count using "whrr-tschzz-tschzz-tschzz-chk" 😁

    • Haha yes should have

As a Transformers fan it was a very fun build (done in spirit with both the 80s movie soundtrack on stereo and some episodes of the cartoon on tv). Not overly difficult AND a great sense of accomplishment when completed, plus it makes a pretty cool display piece too.

How much will it be on Prime day?

There is extra to you than lands on the optical part of a face.

chances are it eill only get cheaper from now, before we thought it was lego store exclusive, now everyone has it (kmart, big w etc) only thing is previous rrp was 259 (pre august) now it's 279

I'm thinking of getting two. One shall stand, one shall fall.

  • Bought from Kmart a couple of weeks ago. My kid has unfortunately taken over the build process, but it’s been an enjoyable build so far (about 5 bags in)

  • Bought this when it was a Lego exclusive. Kind of annoyed I could have gotten it cheaper since. Still worth it though. Was a fun build and stands quite tall. Always wanted Optimus as a kid and parents could never afford it. Now if only they release a lego trailer to go on top while it's transformed into a car.

Same here mate. My parents could never spend $100 on Lego sets. I remember they did buy us a couple of sets and we still have them albeit a bit broken and some bit missing. As for transformers, we had a couple of the smaller lessor known ones but no Optimus Prime.

Bought this for our 8yo and he is through a couple of bags but wondering if I should get one for myself. It is such a good set. Bowser is the other one I would like to own.

  • It's a great build with some awesome moc builds over on rebrickable.

The fact that this exists is mind blowing to me, a Lego replica of the actual transformer - that transforms!?!
What a day to be alive!

Do you know that the Lego designer of this set used to work at Hasbro on transformers. :)

      • You learn something new every day.

  • Also available from Build & Play in Melbourne for $219.99 plus delivery. They charged $16.50 for delivery to Adelaide, but you can collect from the store.

    • just a note. 'for builders, not collectors'. they may have imperfections on the actual box.

      • Thats a good point! I have to say they just seem to be covering themselves here for the possibility of collectors being upset about box damage as I have ordered a few big models from them in the past including this one and not noticed any damage.

  • Can I be built into something else or has to be Optimus? Legos are meant to be able to build anything you want right?

    • +1

Sure go crazy. Try building He-Man figures using this lego parts

  • Big W have it available for pre-order $229 - releasing 29/08

  • nice, does it really have 1508 pieces?
