Cheapest Long Term Expiry Data Plan Aug 2022

Hi All,

I require 5GB yearly to use for my Dashcam cloud monitoring. I’ve been using Catch connect and if I renew their services I get $90 a year with 60GB a year. I’m wondering if there’s some suggestions to get a bargain to get a long expiry data SIM card.

I don’t need to use the same number. I don’t need to make any phone calls. Just need 4G network and only require 5GB a year.

I looked at few MSPs but can’t get a good deal on a long expiry SIM.

Could you please give me some suggestions before I sign up with Catch connect for another year?

Sim slutting every month on Kogan 20GB $2.90 appears to be the only way to get it cheaper atm. Total would be $34.80 for 12 months.

Eventually a good 12 month deal will come up on Ozbargain. Sometimes TA will post one with a large cashback.

    • How does this work? It says first 30 days $2.90 then $20 ongoing that means $20 x 11 plus $2.90.

      • You would buy a new sim every month and activate it, hence the term "sim slutting".
You would need to turn off auto recharge.

Probably best to alternate between family or friends names/emails.

        • Oh that’s such a pain to do as I would use it for my car and will forget to swap every month. Looks like catch $90 renewal is my only hassle free option.

          • @justanick: Yes it's a hassle but this is Ozbargain so it's a cheaper option & could work in your favour for a couple of months until a good 12 month deal gets posted.

Also the Amaysim 1 year deal mentioned below is cheaper than Catch after cashback.

            • @WatchNerd: Thanks a lot. I haven’t used cash back before it says after purchase I’ll get $17.50 after 75 days. Do they transfer it to my account? Is it safe to use cash back or shop back site?

I have never seen a big discount on a long expiry deal. What are the chances of getting one if I get the Kogan deal?

    • I found the cash back is $17.50 not $21 it’s small but did the op make a mistake?

I am the OP, it was $22 couple days ago for sure, it is lowered now unfortunately.

        • Thank you OP. Apologies for thinking you made a mistake. Please keep posting the good deals.

  • Not 100% sure about this, but you could possibly go with an amaysim 365 day PAYG plan, and then add 4-5x $10 1GB data top-ups.

Is it good value per GB? Not particularly. But at a total cost of $50-$60, it's cheaper than what you're on now.

    • That’s a very good find. The only thing I can’t find there is if I add 1GB or 5GB does it expire in a month or until 365 days?

      Edit:
      “ Data
7.2c/MB data, or add a data plan
Data plans start from $15/2GB and last for 28 days”

Yeah it's a tricky one as I've not done it myself. On this page it does state..
"If you run out(?) of the included data in your UNLIMITED, 7-day short term, long expiry or data-only plan, you can add a 1GB/$10 data-top up to your service at any point throughout your plan period. The data top-up will be added to your plan’s pool of data and will expire at the same time as your plan."

        • Let me check if I can get a free Amaysim SIM card and get on a PAYG subscription. If this works out this would be the best outcome for me. Thanks a lot in advance.

  • Hi all I got the Amaysim PAYG plan. I can’t see 1GB for $10 anywhere to add. I even sent the text to top up 1GB it failed. The options I get are 7GB $15 and 28 days expiry.

This is so crap. Amaysim is false advertising. I sent an email to their customer service team.

  • I am looking for 5g cheap month to month data plan. 100gb plus.. any suggestions?
