[Seconds] Voll P44 Seconds Bookshelf Speakers + TPA3316 Amplifier Bundle $119 + Shipping ($0 to ADL/BNE/MEL/SYD) @ Voll Audio

840

This is our lowest price ever bundle and includes:

  • 1x Pair Black Voll P44 seconds speakers (new in box, may contain minor cosmetic imperfections)
  • 1x TPA3116 Class D amplifier. (these amplifiers work great but have a slight design issue at about 3/4 volume with more audible hiss or noise than we’d like, works great at full volume or low volume so very suitable if you control your volume elsewhere).
  • 1x 18v 2a power supply for amplifier
  • 2x 2m speaker cables with banana plugs.

To clarify: The seconds P44s are factory seconds, they have never been used by customers and come with regular Voll warranty and money back guarantee.

Free shipping to most metro locations but depends on our couriers as to the exact coverage area (you can estimate shipping in cart). Orders will ship this Friday.

Sorry in order to do this price we can't make any changes to speaker cable length or speaker colour. Limited quantity available at this price (as we only have a limited number of these TPA3116 amplifiers). We'll be offering a similar bundle in January at a significantly higher price once our new TPA3116 amplifier is released.

S8 subwoofer is on backorder until 15th of January, so if you order at the same time we may wait and ship everything together or may ship separately.

Nice price and good work on the transparent listing details

  • +9

Another +1 for transparency. I bought a basic 2.1 setup a year or so ago from Voll during one of their 'seconds' sales and they were honest and upfront about what to expect. Very happy with my purchase and would buy from them again.

  • How do we connect a sub to this setup?

    • +3

The sub will need to have speaker/high level inputs (our S8 does for example). The cheapest way would be to buy some extra speaker cable from us by the metre: https://voll.com.au/product/figure-8-17awg-speaker-cable-per… then strip it and connect from the amplifier binding posts to the sub. The more expensive plug and play option would be to order our subwoofer/speaker cable combined: https://voll.com.au/product/combined-subwoofer-speaker-cable…

The S8 manual has a neat diagram that explains how to hook it up via various methods and we're also available on email and facebook chat in case you have further questions.

      • Awesome, thanks! What about when I want to use headphones, would I need to pull the amp cable to my PC out and plug my headphones in, or is there another hack I can do to avoid having to do this?

        • If your PC has multiple sound outputs you could just turn the amp off when you are using your headphones. If not you could get an expensive usb sound card or even a usb headphone amplifier/dac for a better headphone experience.

        • Fyi bunnings sell speaker cable at any length too. Cut desired length from a spool.

  • +1

For anyone buying the Subwoofer (https://voll.com.au/product/s8/) I can highly recommend it. For the price it packs a punch, although currently out of stock.

    • +4

      Thanks for the feedback!

Covid has messed with us quite a bit when it comes to the S8 - been out of stock for months now due to manufacturing issues and global shipping issues. We're finally getting a small shipment of S8 subwoofers in January so I'd recommend preordering soon for anyone who has been waiting because it's likely there will be a wait for the next shipment and the price will also probably increase a bit (looking at at least April 2023 but probably later at this stage).

      • You guys have good stuff. I will buy something from you website soon enough.

  • Tempting, looking for something like this in my study - but figuring out a solution to connect from multiple devices may make something like the Edifier BT options more appealing. This looks much cleaner though, so may have to do some googling.

  • total ignorant on bookshelf speakers but would this be fine when connected to PC? How does this compare to Edifier R1280DB aside form the BT functionality?

    • +4

Obviously take my views with a grain of salt as I'm biased but I do think our P44 sounds much better than the R1280DB.

One of the pros of passive speakers + amplifier is if years later after warranty has run out if your amp develops a fault you can easily and cheaply replace it.

    • I have A44's from an old deal and use them for my TV and the Edifier 1380(not sure how they differ to the 1280) as PC speakers - I much prefer the Voll's for audio quality for music, tv and games.

    • I, too, have their A44's + old sub, but my mate has the Edifier's. I personally prefer the A44's. I think they're a more clean/balanced sound on mid-high volume, but on lower volumes it takes some tinkering to get the bass balance correct. (Mainly because their old sub doesn't have a crossover dial)

  • Maybe related but what kind of speaker stands/ shelf do people use when connecting these to a tv?

  • I listen to metal and the vocals are fairly drowned out by the instruments on these speakers compared to my IEMs. Might just be that IEMs are better at it in general than speakers.

For the price though, I don't think better can be had.

    • Good to know, thanks

    • Apples to Oranges yeah.. IEM's are generally going to be much better at highs/mids where most of that vocal range is than small speakers like these.

  • How would these + a sub compare to Logitech Z623 2.1 speakers?

    • +4

Probably destroy them lol. Definitely better in the clarity space and the Sub will probably be tighter/less boomy as Logitech subs are known to be. Also being a separate system you can chop/change the amp, the speakers or the sub as you like.

      • Yeah I have noticed the sub can be quite boomy.

  • bargain

  • This is a bargain and great entry level setup.

I still have my voll S8 subwoofer, and I recommend it.

    • Does your S8 hum? Mine does.

  • I want it. Can't justify it. Have no real use for it. But it's a good deal.

    Buy now regret later?
Buy now.. Get yelled at by SO later?

    Decisions decisions..

  • Hi OP - Is it possible to connect these to a TV that only has optical (no RCA/AUX)?

    • +2

Unless your TV has AUX or headphone out this probably isn't the deal for you. Probably better off finding some active speakers or a sound bar that has optical input or getting a cheap used AVR and buying passive speakers.

    • You want an AV receiver for that. The included amp won't be necessary though since AV receiver already have amps/.

  • Just curious… could I run one of these from a 12v or 18v battery for portable loudness?

    • +2

Yes. The amplifier will run on anything from 12v to 24v. That said at 12v it wont go very loud (certainly loud enough though for many things as I have done this myself with good results).

  • Bought this and the back ordered sub, and some speaker cable :D Thanks for the deal OP!

  • +2

Unfortunately out of stock now. If you missed out and you are interested in a deal like this in the future set an alert on Ozbargain or subscribe to our mailing list as we'll have something similar in January (not this cheap though unfortunately).

  • I have some old B44's that I power with an Aiyima A07 and they sound leagues better than the Topping TP22 I used to power them with.

    • The Topping TP22 is a TriPath based amp. I have to say on the right speakers those old TriPath amps sounds amazing!! I made some backloaded horns with high efficiency fostex full range drivers and i think they sound amazing especially on certain music like what's played on radio paradise. The TI based chip amps sounds sterile and cold to me in comparison. They are clean and punchy though.

So much so that I often prefer listening to this combo then my $10k concept 500's and Nad M10 setup. IMHO of course.

      • Just to add, I think the reason the topping tp22 didn't sound on those speakers is the efficiency, once you go too far on the volume on the tripath, they sound harsh and not good! that's why the high efficiency speakers do them justice as you get acceptable volume levels and the tripath amp is in the sweet velvety zone.

  • +1

higher price once our new TPA3116 amplifier is released
Guessing this will be with fixed hiss?

    • +1

      Yes

  • One more bundle is available if anyone is interested - we managed to find another TP3116 amplifier in the warehouse.
