Best Mail Forwarding service for US purchases?

Hello,
I would like to know peoples experiences with mail forwarding services for purchasing items in the US and from amazon etc. I want the cheapest and most reliable company (of course :)
Thanks in advance.

  • I can't tell you whether they're the cheapest, because I have used no others. I've used Ustooz a couple of times (after seeing a recommendation here) and have found the service they offer outstanding. The last time, they had the box sealed and ready to post when I decided I wanted to order something else. They were only too happy to open it up and repack, and it ended up costing me just cents more than the previous total.

  • Shipito.com, especially if you buy small items.

Their fee is only $1+Postage for items in envelopes.

I've used ComGateWay for larger items, not cheap but quite reliable.

I used Shipito, everything worked as expected and their rates are cheap. Just don't choose the cheapo "Economy Airmail" shipping option - I chose this for a small package I didn't care about and it took 2 months to show up at my door.

  • Thanks for all your suggestions :)
Im pretty cheap so I guess its shipito for now.
Anyone have any other cheap companies they have dealt with?

  • Can any of them do sea shipment? Buying from IKEA in the US seems to be half-price than here..

    • I think USPS stopped doing seamail a while ago, so most mail forwarding companies won't be able to do seamail.

If you know someone in the US you may be able to use a service like IQGlobal.com for large items like furniture. They charge about $150 per cubic meter for sea freight.

  • Those who have used shipto, from reading their forums it would seem they charge $8.50 for each package they receive, is that correct?

    • Yes. However, there's an option to forward small items/letters for only $1 instead of the usual $8.50. There's a form to be filled out, signed by a justice of peace/notary public and mailed to them along with your copies of your ID.

        Thanks for that maldrat.

        • These is also an option where you pay a certain amount a month and this becomes $2.50.

You can take out this membership monthly or yearly.

  • Does anyone have any tips for forwarding a large package to Australia.

The dimensions are 50 x 22.5 x 48 inches and all the quoates I've seen are very very high.

edit - weight is 100 pounds.

  • as I know these are the cheapest
    http://www.priceusa.com.au
when I tied them, they were free and only charge shipping and exchange fees. I am not sure if they are still free or not

they are not free they charge a % of the purchase.

also.. terrible customer service if things go wrong. avoid.

  • certainly avoid www.priceUSA.com.au. Not only they are overpriced, their customer service is rude and not quite honest. Says if the store gives further discount when you purchase over a certain amount of money, despite that the discount is listed on the stores' website, priceUSA does not transfer the discount to you. Their shipping cost has a huge marked up and they call the rest "handling costs" but their website clearly said no additional costs. They also charge $5 for a copy of the original store receipt but my experience was that they purposely made the scan copy so blurry that you can't see the exact figure.

    = TOTALLY AVOID.
