I'm going out on a limb here, to tell the time.

I thought was to protect the wrist from sunburn?!!

      • use your phone

    • +10

iphones are too big to wear on the wrist?

      • +7

        iphone can't change battery.. :-P

    • +8

Because a clock is too big to be worn on wrist, and looks silly hanging from the neck?

      • but its bling

      • +3

        Tell that to Flavor Flave.

These are really nice watches for the money. I tried on a few while I was over in the USA and almost pulled the trigger at 3x this price. As a collector, I want a watch with this movement in my collection, but none of the designs have done it for me yet. The Precisionist movement is exclusive to Bulova.

The sweeping seconds hand is mesmerizing, and the accuracy is amazing for the price. Bulova is owned and manufactured by Citizen, so no worries about quality.

Great watch, great price, if the design appeals to you, jump on this deal.

The sweeping seconds hand is mesmerizing

Agree! Wish my Tag Heuer Carrera has this sweeping motion…

      • -1

Tag Heuer is a good watch. I wish they could be sold in Abercrombie & Fitch outlets again.

Good video with more detail about the watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c-HeKqeJ0A

If you can tolerate the guy talking - i lasted 60sec & now need therapy.

    • Here's a different watch, with the freaky sweepy hand, but with no talk, just action.

      Sweepy…continuous…flowing…action….must…buy……

  • I was just oogling over fine watches like these this morning!

Do you think there'll be further savings if I use my 28 degrees card?

And OP, where is the link to the blue one? I wasn't able to see it…

How would one compare Bulova to Seiko or Orient? (all under same parent) Do they still have the department store stigma that Invicta watches have?

Will probably end up getting myself a steinhart!

    • +3

Personally for me is the Ultra accurateness and for such a cheap price point that no other brand can offer me, Seiko, Orient etc. Design is no big deal. Bulova belongs to Citizen. Thinking of using it as an anchor to calibrate the mechanical watches i have…

    • go with the steinhart mate! i just ordered myself a Apollon, but i really like their new 38 range too!

  • That sweeping hand is glorious!
Sooo tempted to get one, though I can't decide if I prefer the black or brown…

    • +3

      Black.
      Lucky i'm here.

      • Yeah that was my first thought too but I think that I don't like the strap more than the face… might test it with a brown strap if and when I succumb.

Sooo tempted to get one, though I can't decide if I prefer the black or brown…

Go ahead! Brown is more classy… :-)

      • +5

You see that's not helping! :P

    • I am on the same boat…..i want to buy but just can't decide what color….

There are two Youtube clips below…one black one brown…the brown seems to be better in the video…although, the video quality sucks & both guys are annoying for some reason…

    • tough choice. I just clicked buy on a brwon strap - the face also has a brown hue to it?

My thoughts are Black is more formal, great for suits, but brown is more versatile. at this price, you can afford to wear it every day.

here is a link to a video showing some detail (and influenced my decicion to buy brown).

Anyone know where to get Grand Seiko at reasonable price?

    • ive gotten a few seikos from creationwatches.com before. Good service with quick delivery and much much more affordable than aussie prices. (i believe it's a singapore based company)
not sure if they have the model you are looking for though

  • +2

There's a thread on Watchuseek that says this is first generation model that did not meet the 10s spec.
They believe the 2nd gen models are best if you desire high-accuracy.

  • reposting from WP here:

The weight, I don't want a really heavy watch and amazon has 16 Ounces written for item weight (that's ~450gms which is way too heavy and sounds like it may be shipping weight) does anyone know the real weight of the watch?

The size. my wrist is around 17.5cm in circumference the watch is 44mm will it be too big?

and it's not sapphire glass, is that achievable in my price-range? (at most $300 but prefer around $150)

should I bite, I'm tempted but I haven been without a watch for a while and could wait. I don't mind the look and have heard that photos don't do it justice.

    • Holy Toledo, Whirlpool has a thread on watches…

      • They have a thread for everything :P

        • Including multicopters. Wow.

Must keep track of that Gadget forum.

Think i'll pass on this watch (nearly bought it yesterday). Second hand freaks me out, but i don't really go for the overall styling…

  • +3

Damn you OzB, you've done it again
Bought a new watch 3 months back, but this sweeping hand motion has mesmerised me into parting with my hard-earned again.
Must stop visiting this site, must stop….etc.

  • Just ordered, thanks OP.

  • Just got mine……loving the sweeping motion……best way to pass the time

  • Here's some watches when, well, crutching the sheep:

Your primary watch should be worth at least a week's wages. Just sayin'

    • +1

      I agree.

My primary watch cost $99, and not only tells me how hot my wrist is, but also what the moon is up to.

It's important to know what the moon is up to.

  • Arrived yesterday. Lovely! Thanks to disa1377.

  • +1

Where is the watch made? Also does it require a battery?
