Deal Link Checker (The first step of posting a deal)

This suggested feature is already in-place, but I think it can be more initial.

I suggest that before you even begin to post a new deal, you have to submit through a "Check the link" portal inputting the URL of the deal before being able to continue.

This will show the most recent deal posts by time. As in, If it was posted 5 minutes ago that deal will show up the top of the list.

There is still a lot of people re-posting the same deal, same link because the list of "Previous Deals" with the URL is not being prioritized by time and date.

You would still be able to click the "Not a Dupe" and continue.

The whole point of this feature being in the Initial process of a deal is to get maximum attention of the deal poster instead of having 5-7 options to select IE. Tags, Link, Description, Start Date, Category which can confuse and distract the deal poster from recognizing the Previous Deals.

  • Thanks for your suggestion. We have checks for multiple fields on the deal submission form by AJAX, and I'm in the process of doing an audit on that.

    At the moment:

    • URL actually gets checked as soon as the user moves from the URL field to another. If the URL is not the home page and has already been posted within 90 days, only one match is printed.
    • Same for coupon code, only one match is printed.
    • If the title looks very similar to another, those previous posts are listed, ordered by closest match

I'll look into listing more than 1 match, ordered by latest ones first for URL and coupon.

Edit: Actually, since URL and coupon matches are exact, just the latest one will do.

    • Thanks for looking at my suggestion but the overall suggestion was over-looked. If you input the URL before heading to inputting descriptions etc etc. You may find a lot of posts won't be duplicated as it get's there attention without any distractions.

Exactly like eBay. First you have to select a Category > Sub-Category > than it re-directs to the new page where you input the Title, Description and selections.

      • Oh I see what you mean - a separate screen before the actual deal submission form.

        • +1

Exactly. So it's in your face and will get the attention of duplicate posts before you can even input a title. A lot of first posters over look the links of simular posts due to the distractions of other boxes of info you need to fill in.
