Vintage: The 2024 growing season was cooler than average conditions which allowed for good acid retention and freshness. The mild and dry season allowed for even ripening with minimal disease pressure after veraison.

Winemaking: Parcels were night harvested to retain freshness and gently pressed once at the winery. Cool fermentation in stainless stell and followed by prompt blending and bottling to ensure purity of fruit and optimum freshness.

Nose: Lifted citrus and apple notes on the nose.

Palate: The palate is crisp and dry, with fresh citrus and pear flavours. This wine is refreshing and balanced with great flavour length.

Cellaring: Drink now to 2027

Winemakers: Bec Hardy & Bec Swincer.

  • I have bought a number of different wines from Bec Hardy and all of them have been very good quality, Shiraz, Cab Sav, Chardy or Sauv Blanc have been of tremendous value. I highly recommend them to anyone wondering if they are any good.

    • @omblygombly kind words and high praise indeed. Thanks. RD :-)

Thanks OP - I don’t recognise the Wine Showcase Magazine you have quoted. Who is their wine panel? What would Halliday or Huon Hooke give these wines? Have they ever reviewed them?

My friend, who’s a wine connoisseur, says a lot of these discounted wines are just leftovers that are better sold as cleanskins or even put into goon bags. Your thoughts?

    • @ColesWorthUnited

Your friend is entitled to his opinion however misguided he might or might not be.

Further details on Wineshowcase Magazine and its judging approach here -> http://www.wineshowcase.com.au/

We haven’t submitted to Halliday since 2022 due to what we would argue is the flawed nature of the panel tasting process. As a previous recipient of over 250 90+ scores including a 99pt score on a 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon and a 5* rating in 2021 we look forward to a time when the tasting regime has greater rigor. Lead in times for publishing of reviews are also too long.

We don’t pay to subscribe to Huon Hooke, therefore, don’t submit.

We do submit to Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, Wine Pilot, Wine Showcase, Wine Orbit and Peter Bourne. We submit selected wines to capital wine city and regional shows.

Hope that helps. Cheers! RD :-)

      • Great thanks for the comprehensive reply. Seems that these must be solid wines. Though I do prefer a Pinot Gris…must be the French ancestry in me.

        • Thanks. Yes, enjoy a Gris too and we’ve previously made Gris. I was worried when the team suggested Grigio but certainly by no means disappointed by the result. Stunning wine. RD :-)

    • Really?

  • Thanks, grabbed some. I do like a Pinot Gris/Grigio - great with creamy mushroom and leek dishes :)

    • @Marmaduke and everyday during summer :-)

    • How about a recipe for a leek dish pls?

  • Just ordered a carton. Haven't had a Pinot Grigio for years. Thanks.

    • @omblygombly funnily enough, nor had I. Belting wine this one. WIll be a spring/summer go to at home this year :-)
