    Nobody has gift card yet??
    Something stinks here.

  • I expect to see a "further delay" email in the next couple of days.

  • I would suggest someone contact actual Western Digital company,as I think the promo was outsourced and Western Digital would probably very annoyed with the promo company they paid. This dodgy promotion is destroying Western Digital's good will. Many customers will never buy Western Digital again . Not only for non-response of promo company to emails, but also the difficulty in uploading pics etc as proof of purchase. They show picture of iphone in guide to uploading pics, but site did not accept images anywhere near iphone size/resolution . I will contact Western Digital when I have the time. Not right this promotion, offering something, then making it so difficult . Smells of a scam by promo company to me. We the consumers have been scammed, but also I think Western Digital company has been scammed, as they probably paid good money to promo company which is not delivering as per expectations of basic customer service ie, answering mail, making site to redeem promo gift card acceptable to use, without having to waste hours trying to upload pics and googling for answers .

  • Yeah haven't been contacted either I might email them today.

  • From promo email:

"Once your entry is verified, your gift card will be delivered to the address you provided by 30 January, 2013.

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]"

  • Hmmmmmm…..just went over to the Western Digital Australia facebook page and found a post from this guy….

"Who else got scammed by Western Digitals Christmas Promotion. Did everything they asked, even the small print and today get a email stating that my entry did not meet the requirements! What a load of bull! I made sure everything was correct and to their requirements for the $50 voucher..now nothing. Western Digital, you have not heard the last from me!"

      http://www.synnex.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=42

    • called this number and they are no help. The lady said she will get someone to call me back. I asked when that was likely to be. She said she didnt know but she would try to get it done as soon as possible. Will not give a time frame. Who do we take this matter up with? Fair trading or something?

  • "The response to this competition has been outstanding!"

"Registrations for the WD Christmas promotion have now closed, but don't despair! Keep your eyes open for our Back to School promotion coming soon."

Did anyone see a "Back to School" promotion? Probably still too busy trying to sort this mess out.

  • Has anyone actually received their gift card yet? I am still waiting as well and have not heard from them since the last email about the delay.

    • I think the question now is "WILL anyone actually receive their gift card"…..

  • +1

Still waiting…..came here to see that I'm not alone.

    • Same

      • There comes a time when social media can really be your friend in these situations…. I think that time may be approaching soon

        • Still waiting…

  • Still nothing here from me since the 18th of December. No confirmation, no notification of invalid.

Not sure if it is time yet but I am thinking about contacting the ACCC about this matter. Surely this is an advertising breach of some sort.

    Thoughts?

Just received a personal email reply…

We have checked our records and your claim has been approved. You should receive your cash card within the next week. Thank you for your participation in the WD Promotion! Kind regards WD Promo Team

Looks like progress, and just in time…

    • Can I ask when you contacted them? Curious on how long it took them to get back to you.

      • +1

Applied for the offer mid December.

Sent my inquiry email Monday 28 Jan, so received the reply within 3 days.

    • I guess we'll see then within the next week. There should be a flood of people posting on here again if what they say is true. Let us know if it arrives. I'm guessing there will be a TON of people contacting them if yours is the only one that arrives. :-)

    • +2

And did you just contact them through [email protected]? or WD directly or the marketing company?

        [email protected]

(I just replied to the original confirmation email)

        • This email no longer works?

This is what I got in my email today. WTF!!!

    Thank you for your enquiry.

We have checked our records and because your claim did not meet the requirements of the promotion we regret to advise that your claim has not been approved.

We thank you for taking part in the promotion.

    Kind regards

    WD Promo Team

    NOT HAPPY JANE!

    • I would be asking them on what grounds it did not meet the claim

      • I'm waiting for a response from them…I'm so tempted to return the WD player back to OfficeWorks.

  • Do they just randomly pick some of us for the gift card?

    • +1

I just received WD email (I emailed them yesterday afternoon)
"We have checked the status of your entry, and it has been approved.
We shall start processing your $50 redemption Gift Card shortly and there will be a notification coming your way soon with a timeframe on when you should receive your claim.
Thank you for taking part in the promotion!"

      • this is the exact same response i got after emailing them on the 30th. The reply came the next day. But still nothing telling me when I will get the card.

  • I emailed them yesterday, and also received the 'approved' email today.

To those that received 'denied' emails, fight the good fight in getting them to come to the party. Try not to get emotional in your responses, and consider that maybe it's not the best idea to issue threats of returning the hardware - for real or not - after all, it's a pretty darn good unit. I'm sure that after some dialog a happy resolution will be reached.

  • i got the following error when i emailed them back:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

     [email protected]

    • I just used http://verify-email.org/ to test the above address and it's still valid.

  • It's a pretty ridiculous situation. Surely they should be emailing people and letting them know if their claim was valid once they process it? It sounds like they are only processing them once you contact them.

    • +1

I had this suspicion too. Also, it seems strange that the wording of everyone's emails is quite different (even for exactly the same result).

Has the feel of a very ad-hoc process where they had not prepared a comprehensive (or even consistent) feedback system, after the initial entry/confirmation.

  • Soo pissed its february and no email or any news about my
    5xwdtv!!
    $500 and i want $250 back!!!
    Gonna email them noww

    • I think I read some where in their T&Cs during the promotional period that if claiming under the same name/address, it had to be different products but up to 5 WD products, so hopefully you used different emails, names and addresses for each one.

      Edit:
      Link: http://wdpromo.com.au/25words/theterms.html

Multiple entries permitted, subject to the following:
      (a) only one (1) entry and claim permitted per specified Eligible Product purchased during the Promotional Period;
      (b) each entry and claim must be submitted separately and in accordance with claim requirements;
      (c) a maximum of five (5) entries and claims per person throughout the Promotional Period; and
      (d) each entry submitted must be substantially unique.

      • Deosnt say anything about address. From what was discussed at the time it was one entry per person per item. That is you couldnt claim multiple entries from the same item. Up to 5 unique entries.

ive heard nothing of my 2 entries.

        • I thought (a) and (d) pretty much spelled out one person (c) couldn't claim more than one WD TV. But what do I know…

        • Doesnt say anything about address though. Just one person cannot claim twice and the additional rules state only one entry per unique item. So to me that says another person at your address can claim another unique item.

        • You'd think that would be the case, like house mates getting a hard drive each.

  • sent them info re ombudsman
    YOU CAN TOO

  • TRY IT (Answer)

We have checked the status of your entry, and it has been approved.

We shall start processing your $50 redemption Gift Card shortly, however there will be a notification coming your way soon with a timeframe on when you should receive your claim.

Thank you for taking part in the promotion!

    Kind regards
    WD Promo Team

    • When did you email them? Just curious how quickly you got a reply?

  • Has anyone else been rejected? Am I the only one :(

    • I have not had any reply as yet

      • Email them to find out.

        • I emailed them yesterday. Most people seem to be getting a response within two business days. I will wait till Monday then email them again.

I called up and asked, and they will be sending out confirmations for delivery of gift cards by Friday :) So hold on tight!

    • +1

So "next 24 hours" is now "next 7 days". I think the reason that they are taking so long to process is because they are nitpicking all claims to find a reason to reject it.

      • When I called up, they mentioned there was a delay in loading the gift cards with the $50 value. They were very polite, and asked me to wait until this Friday, so I guess there's no real harm in waiting that little bit longer?

  • All the replies via email seem to be very ad hoc and not automated in the least…

  • Hmm - just looked at my original email and it says: "Once your entry is verified, your gift card will be delivered to the address you provided by 30 January, 2013" … how long does verification take? Would not be happy to find out NOW that my entry failed the conditions …. anyway I was pretty sure the data fields were being checked on input to make sure the required words etc were actually there?

  • Can someone tell me what email address their reply came from. I cant seem to find anything in my gmail so i would search through it with the email address if someone can post it up.

  • Had a look and have received nothing leaning towards it being accepted or denied. Only correspondence ive had with them is the thanks for submission we will review your entry to validate it message.

Smells of either Citibank organizing these cash-back cards or they are hanging on to earn some interest :(

    • Also got the same- acknowledgement that they recieved, but no actual 'confirmation' I was eligible… Sent them an email, will let you know what they say.

  • We need to call / email the promoter synnex pty ltd which is WD distributor. Im still waiting their response.

    • How do you find out the distributor is also the promoter?

      • The promoter is, as per my post above, TARGETBASE MARKETING PTY LTD.
It's where the wdpromo.com.au website is registered to!

        • "It's where the wdpromo.com.au website is registered to!"
Web Development companies often register websites on their clients behalf. Doesn't mean the company has any involvement in the actual clients running of the site/business.

      • The Promoter is Synnex Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 40 052 285 882) of 92 Carroll Road, Oakleigh South, VIC 3167, acting on behalf of Western Digital Inc.

see this link http://wdpromo.com.au/25words/theterms.html and see no. 24 & 25 (the last one)

  • I honestly think, thanks to those that were going to try rort the system, that they are probably delaying the gift cards while they check that people didn't return the products to the stores after they'd made the claim!
There were even people on here saying that this is what they were going to do!!!

    • Other companies usually ask for a sticker on the box. But WD did not.
How do they check if the device has been returned to the store?

      • They've got a copy of your invoice… It has all the details they could ever need!!!
        (Store, Date, Invoice number, etc.)

        • But they won't have the docket of the returned item.

        • If the store is willing to check for them, they don't need the return docket. The stores will have details on whether an item has been returned based on the original invoice.

Still waiting for WD to reply to my email sent last Thursday.

Looks like they have gone quiet on this as no recent replies on their facebook as well.

        • I'd be surprised if they weren't on top of everything because they've been extremely efficient so far.

        • Sarcasm?

        • +1

          Indeed

        • Same here. Sent them two very polite emails in the last week and still nothing.

      • the dlink router cash back asks you to cut our the serial no: from the box and send it in…..

  • This is the email that I got from Synnex…they're pretty fast to response my email than WD promo team.

    Dear {name}

    Thanks for your email!

Your concern has been escalated to WD. The WD team will contact you soon.
If any further question, feel free to contact Synnex again.

    Synnex Marketing and Communications Division

  • Still no word from them!

  • Sent WD Promo team two emails in the last week and no reply as yet.

    • Still haven't heard from them since last thursday. Doubt anyone will be getting their gift card soon even those who have received email stating that their entry was approved.

I have been a WD supporter for years but not any longer as I will probably look at other brands going forward after this debacle.

Thank you for entering the WD Christmas Redemption Promotion. We hope you're enjoying your new WD product.

If you have any enquiries, please email [email protected]

    • Yeah, likewise!!!

    • I redeem 5 units and only received one email as well!!!

From the above it sounds as if you can buy 5 items, but they have to be 5 different types of items. So if you buy 2 or more of the "Live Streaming" devices, only 1 is eligible.. But if you purchase 1 of each type of different product, you could claim them all, up to 5 claims.
That's how I read it to be anyway.

      • Ditto. Though, I did receive 5 separate confirmation emails when I redeemed them back in December.

"Congratulations. You've won a $50 gift card. It's our gift to you.

        Hi Jane Doe,

Thank you for your entry. Once your entry is verified, your gift card should be delivered within two weeks to the address you provided.

Don't forget to share your success with your friends so they can win too!

If you have any questions, please email us at [email protected]

Plus! Your entry will also be considered for the Major Prize for the most creative entry, where you could win a $1,000 gift card.

        Good luck!"

Sent them an email to double check as well but so far no response yet.

        • +1

That's not surprising that you received 5 confirmations, because it was an automated system. As the text says "Once your entry is verified…".
Now that the entries have been checked, they have been found to not match up with the conditions of entry.

        • ah so true, pays to read fine print

glad I don't have to email them for buying 2, just need to read OzB lol

  • Everyone's a winner. Got mine as well. I wonder if anyone got rejected.

    • Read above.. Someone didnt get it

  • Still haven't got mine. Sent a very cranky email yesterday.

    • +2

There may be a delay because you won the 10K prize?

  • Got my email today….all good.

  • 1 out of 4 for us.

We bought 3 Live TVs and one MyBook live NAS so we used three names but they only announced that one of us had "won" a $50 card after previously saying all four entries were successful and would be receiving a $50 card.
Bargain at $50, didn't want them at $100.
Thing is, they have taken so freaking long and blown every deadline. We would have returned the other devices had we known. Will be looking at fair trading/ombudsman real hard if they fail to come through with the others.
The poor handling of this promotion really surprises me. I had every confidence in WD that this would be a painless no bull promotion because…. it came from WD. IE I had a positive impression about the trustworthiness of the brand. "Had", as in past tense.
Never expected to have to check up so many times, be bullshitted about fake deadlines, strung along so much.
Won't trust them so carelessly again.
