Tuned and designed to give the impression of a wider soundstage, but not super neutral in doing so. Very good passive isolation.
Great for games and movies, less so for music (but you can EQ for that at the expense of perceived staging).
More along the lines of a HD 560s with some extra R&D than a true 600 series headphone, so IMO a fair price is closer to $200-$250.
Lots of high quality wireless/bluetooth headphones are finally about to roll through, so if you're not a daily desktop user in need of the isolation I'd keep waiting.

Crap. Seriously, total crap. Don't get these unless you are happy to have that black sh*t peeling off the earpads all over the place. Ask me how I know this. Whatever senny are using to coat these pads should be banned forever.
Regardless of all other factors I'll never ever buy Sennheisers with this material ever again. It was also on 2 pairs of 598's that I binned recently. Total deal breaker.
ah yep the so called vegan leather used for these headphones which is constantly exposed to oils from your skin and causes it to disintegrate into a fine powder.
had the same thing happen to my audio technica ath-m50 headphones.
never again will i buy headphones that uses this crap. Only buy ones that uses fabric or real leather.

If the Headphones were worth buying originally for the sound quality - maybe don't ditch them. First see what options are for Replacement Ear Pads. Probably Sennheiser more than many brands, may offer replacement pads or from 3rd party supplier, made of leather or soft synthetic material. It may be worth searching for, although I'm no expert on this, have seen replacement options on Amazon or Ebay possibly. Just a suggestion - if they sounded good originally, it might be possible to preserve them.
Personally, be careful getting off brand replacement pads. Tried some from AliExpress for my Senn 650s and … The new pads make them sound terrible. I won't use the 650s until I can find good replacement pads, but last I checked senn don't sell official ones here anymore.
