OzBargain Zeitgeist 2012: Top stores, deals and comments. Predictions for 2013?

For those who don't read the blog (why not!), we compiled all the statistics today . If there are any other stats you are interested in then let us know.

See if you can guess who will be in the top 20 in regards to popular deals next year. Do you reckon iTunes's deals will top the chart this time next year? I think it will be up there in the charts but won't take the top spot. Amazon seems unstoppable and they are only just going to increase their inventory that they send to Australia. I can't see Meritline retain its spot as surely everyone has enough tweezers and usb cables. I can see Flingshot just making the cut.

I think you're right. If only the US would remove regional pricing and ship electronics to Australia, they'd make an absolute killing.

I think it's due to the lower Euro isn't it?

In terms of stats, it would be interesting to find out the numbers of Rep posts that are published/front page/removed…. particularly if that can be further divided into foreign and domestic reps. (might not be possible)

    Vote average: 16.74

Is the current number of votes for the front page still 15? Perhaps it's worth increasing the default count to 17, making all posts on the front page "above average"

    • Current default front page threshold is 20. Except for "fast rising deals" where it can be found on front page between 10 and 20 votes.

      • thanks scotty :)

Oh wow, props to whoever coded 'fast rising deals'

        Good idea.

Default is 20. I think the thinking is to show 2 or 3 days worth of deals so before the move to 20, I believe right before the move it was 1 day.

I can definitely pull up those stats but as for dividing into foreign and domestic that was a manual process. It's sometimes quite hard to figure out (not listed on their webpage e.g.gamersgate -Sweeden ) and what country to consider a certain store (e.g. artscow, hobbyking - Hong Kong, Amex - Australia).

  • just for fun - how about:

most -ve votes on a comment
most -ve votes on a comment by JV
    an award named after JV

    • Top 3 upvoted and downvoted users would also be interesting (based on comment votes, not deal votes)

      • I want this feature. Could be a monthly award for popular contribution to the website..

  • Prediction for 2013-

Willie Nelson and Jessica Simpson have a child together?!
