  • Does optus offers free vowifi ?

    • Shouldn't have any issue with VoLTE or VoWifi from any provider in 2025?

    • I am on this OnePass (Optus) plan and VoWiFi works well on my Nokia G60.

      • How is the Nokia G60 going these days performance wise plus battery?
I bought mine last yr & like the lcd display & battery is 4-6 sot mixed wifi & 4g

        • I'm still happy with mine.
I've had it over 18 months. The performance and battery are still good.

          • @StuBalls: Nice all round basic phone. 3.5mm jack, micro sd card expansion & snapdragon 695 (6nm) chugging along nicely. 120hz scrolling is icing on the cake.

  • +3

Another downside is no access to 5G.

    • +4

Yeah at this price and data cap, no 5G is a bridge too far.

20mbps limited, I am locked in and sucks now

I've been with CatchConnect for a year - now OnePass. Speed test shows 154Mbps down, 16Mbps up.

    • I am on this plan and just this minute got 160/33 in eastern Melbourne.

  • +1

no 5G and crap roaming pricing is a real deal breaker for me.

What happened to those 100 to 110 dollar plans with 60gb or 120gb?

Are they trying to make more money or did optus raise their mvno prices, everyone going for higher data and prices. I only used 2 to 3GB a month.

    • It's a shame. If I log into OnePass to renew it offers another 60GB year for $120. I think I paid $89 last year, but $120 is about as good as it gets I think (for existing customers).

      • Ditto, 120/60 Amaysim. Was 99 last year, up from the 60 I paid the year prior :'(

        • they offered me 90 last year.. i ignored it and let my plan actually expire and then they offered me 60. So middle of last year i was able to get Amaysim for $60 for the year, i dont think i'll get it again this year tho..

          • @Iggemo:

i ignored it and let my plan actually expire and then they offered me 60.

Don't you lose your data if you let it expire though?

            • @CVonC: Nope data is still banked and u get it all - at least i did last year.

              • @Iggemo: When did you actually renew? On the day of expiry or afterwards?

              • @Iggemo: Just to follow up on this. I was trying to get Amaysim to offer me a discount on expiry (31/05). The chat agent initially offered me 15% which I refused. And then they offered me 25% which I also refused. They escalated it to someone higher up via email/phone correspondence. They got back to me offering only 25% discount too. I ignored for a couple of days and just yesterday I received a promotional email saying they missed me and offered 2 options: 50% discount off my 365 day renewal or 50% off 3x 28 day renewals of 18gb for $7.50. I took up the 365 day renewal and had my data rolled over too.

TLDR: wait a few days after expiry and get a 50% discount.

                • +1

@CVonC: Thanks mate. I expired today but my data is still working fine hehe, i thought i'll wait for a discount too, i aint paying $120 a year that's for sure when i paid $60 exactly 12 months ago. Doubling in price is total BS imo. Thanks for sharing your experience !

                  • @Iggemo:

when i paid $60 exactly 12 months ago.

This was the renewal of the '23 half price deal right?

                    • +1

@CVonC: Yeah i just got the offer again. So i had to let it expire for THREE days this time (mine expired 4th June) and i got the email offer just now. I've uploaded a pic so you can see, basically if you can last a couple of days without service you save half for the whole year.

                      Offer: https://ibb.co/60x97ynk

                • @CVonC: I might try that next yr with one pass mobile.
Amaysim, one pass are all Optus mnvo.
What were you paying $60/yr then when renewal came they offered $120/yr then you when to chat to negotiate a better deal ?
                  Good outcome in the end.

                  • @milanoxpress: Yeah in May '22 and '23 Amaysim had 50% off on their yearly plans and CR and SB had $17.50 cashback too. The '22 plan got 25% off renewals via promo emails in both '23 and '24 which I took up. The '23 plan didn't get a renewal promo email in '24 but chat offered me $20 off which I also took up. This year neither plan got any promo emails. But chat offered me $30 off for the '22 plan. The '23 plan I explained in the previous comment, first time I let a plan expire actually. Not sure if OnePass will do what Amaysim do even though they're both Optus mnvo. I was catch connect once or twice but ported out when they expired.

          • +1

@Iggemo: Mine might have been 90 too actually, I don't remember. It expires in 4 or 5 days either way so I'm sure I'll click the transaction history some time in the near distant.

Problem is, I didn't even use half the 60gb, I see the "value" in the deal the other day with like 280 odd gig for 50 bucks more, but it's useless for me. So now it inadvertantly makes this plan look worse, when in reality, 10 bucks a month at 120 p/y is a third of what my dad used to pay every month just for the prepaid credit that half the time wouldn't even get you through a full month. AND you had to go buy it at Coles or the video store.

Yeah im in your boat. I have 3 for myself and family and i managed to keep eking out the $60 per year Amaysim for myself but the others are on $120 with Catch/Coles mobile. Now even the 120 a year is apparently a bargain? Huh? What happened to cheap yearlies for elderly folk etc?

I got my 365-day for $99 at catchconnect, I wonder if there would be better price than this somewhere.

    • how long ago was that? Wont beat that price any more.

      • That was just Jan 2025.
Next option if I just want to keep my number is to get an Aldi 365 days PAYG for $5.

  • Would like to know if this is the best price currently for Optus network. I only use about 120gb a year

  • at this point i feel coles mobile is the better deal if you're happy to stick with Optus 4g at least you get international calling

  • Be aware, there are a number of issues with their site and app due to transition to onepassmobile. I've had issues with porting my number, website keeps trying to create a new number instead of porting existing. Their solution is to keep trying again the next day…
