[IDEA] Affliate Links For OzBargain

My idea is for to have bargains that have affiliate links like Amazon, that we can use a OzBargain affiliate link.
Pretend someone has a post about a deal on Amazon but doesn't put a affiliate link on the post, could they post the OzBargain affiliate link? Of course it's totally optional to the OP to post the affiliate link or not. I mean it's the least we can do to the great website. Then we could use this money to donate to charities, update and fix the website etc. So do you think it's a good idea or a bad idea?

  • While I'm biased, I don't think it's up to the members to assist in supporting OzBargain. I do like the idea of a charity directly having an affiliate link though but…

This creates a whole new set of issues. We set the limit to 2 per week. Say if someone puts an affiliate link to a charity, would this count as an affiliate link for the user? Would people be voting for the deal or voting to gain more affiliate commission for the charity?

For the record, for guest users (those who are not logged in), the link box will lead to an affiliate link with a choice to use the non-affiliate link. See here for more information. So what you suggest is happening on a small scale.

    • Hmmm, the two affiliate link per week does bother a bit, but I was considering as an extra thing, as Amazon was store with most deals last year, the way I think is that those who don't have affiliate links could use the charity links as their affiliate link.
