Bosch Professional 2-Piece Procore 18V Brushless Combo Kit 0615990L24 $399 Delivered / C&C / in-Store @ Bunnings

500

ATL for OzB's favourite 2-piece kit. This price is an absolute ripper. Includes:

  • GSB 18V-85C hammer drill
  • GDX 18V-200C impact wrench/driver (aka Bosch "freak", it takes both 1/4" hex and 1/2" square drive bits and sockets. Older kits had the 200, which is a single speed. Newer kits should have the 200C which has a 3 speed selection button. Even more recent ones have the 210C which has 370Nm loosening torque and self-tapping and timber screw auto modes)
  • 2 X ProCORE18V 8.0Ah Battery
  • 1 X Fast Charger GAL 1880 CV
  • 1 X L-BOXX Carrying Case

The batteries alone retail for $349 currently at Total Tools and Sydney Tools.

Depending on how old the batch for your kit is, you may get lucky and get the newer GDX 18V-210C as the driver/wrench instead of the 200C. The 210C has 370Nm breakaway torque in reverse mode, and has 2 auto-drive modes for self-tapping screws and wood screws. My friend's kit bought some time in April had the 200C, mine has a 210C.

Decent amount of stock going around at the moment, esp in NSW. For VIC, delivery is likely the best option right now.

Since when this is OzB's favourite 2-piece kit

    • +2

Deals on this kit in the past have been very well received

    • Don't screw with it!

    • +1

I always thought it was the 2 Piece from KFC!

  • +1

Dang that's so cheap. I bought the kit with the 2x redemption batteries on one of the previous deals. Good gear.

  • Damn i bought the dewalt drill driver, would have got this instead

    • +1

Which Dewalt kit? Chances are you ended up with better tools. The drill here is nothing special, and while it's cool that the impact driver doubles as a wrench, it isn't very good at being either.

      • If you get a more recent kit and get the 210C impact, it's a very capable machine (3400rpm/4000ipm). The drill is also better than the AEG Force I just returned, it is much torquier with the included 8Ah battery. This kit also includes high output 8Ah batteries, which most other brands want you to spend extra. Like AEG's fusion drill ideally needs the 4Ah tabless or 8AH high output battery to generate its full power and torque. It ships with a 5Ah instead.

        • +1

If you want to use it as an impact wrench, it definitely is not capable. It is currently ranked 17th on Torque Test Channel's impact driver spreadsheet, and that is comparing the torque to other impact drivers, not wrenches.

As an impact driver, there are plenty of videos comparing the US version to other drivers and it doesn't come close to matching the speed of impacts like the DCF860, Milwaukee gen 3/4, or most other brands top of the line impacts. It's also easy oversized for what performance you do get.

          • +1

@jamesorion: The Dewalt isn't heaps better in forward, it somehow generates its full torque only in reverse. The Milwaukee is definitely better but the kit with the drill is $800ish ($697 right now at C&L). The AEG Fusion 4-mode is another driver that's very good. The Bosch isn't going to win torque awards, but for DIY use where time isn't as much of a concern as a professional use case, it's adequate.

For $399 for the whole kit the value is really good.

      • It was the mclaren drill driver

        • +2

The Bosch might be a little bit stronger, but it is bigger/heavier and so not as nice to use for normal drilling. Obviously which one is better depends on your needs.

I own the DCD805 (same as yours) as well as a few other drills, and the 805 is the one I always reach for. It's a great blend of size and power. I've never felt it was underpowered, and I regularly use hole saws up to 165mm and large spade and forstner bits.

  • I have the above impact wrench. I tried some 1/2” sockets but they don’t seem to fit. Any ideas?

    • Apparently using a 1/4" to 1/2" adapter works better than putting 1/4" sockets straight on the machine as well because the hollow socket transmits less torque (as per Torque Test Channel)

      • The impact wrench takes both hex bits and 1/2” sockets. I tried a few diff 1/2” female sockets and I can’t get them to fit.

        • Haven't tried 1/2" on mine yet

You may want to check if socket itself is deformed, especially if it's been used with impact wrenches?

Otherwise maybe try lubricating the male socket on the driver?

          • +2

@twister292: You had me at lubricating the male socket.

          • @twister292: Nay, its new. I had a few diff sets, tried ones from my Stanley socket kit and toolpro. Unsure if they are different 1/2” socket sizes or what the issue is. The sockets fits my 1/2” torque wrench and adjustable wrenches fine.

          • +1

@twister292: Make sure the lubricated socket has protection on

    • +2

They're very stiff to get on, push harder.

  • Can I use this as an amateur?

    Asking for a friend

    • Yes

    • +1

Save yourself some money and get the matabo drills which were also posted on ozbargain today.

      • I have one of their BBQs, didn’t know they were doing drills now

        • That's Matador I'm sure. The tools are Metabo, which is a brand by the same parent company that also makes Hikoki

  • +6

I've got these and while they are great tools, I would NOT recommend the drill to the average DIYer. It's just far too heavy (and probably a massive overkill) for most people.
Of course you can still use it, but I find that the accuracy is better when using lighter tools, especially if you're doing a project and getting a bit fatigued or working overhead.
Great if you need a high torque drill, but I use my 60Cs (I've got 3 or 4 of them) FAR more than I use my 85C.

    • +4

While I can't speak for this particular drill driver kit, I've got a heap of 18v tools which are great - but 90% of the time I go for my Bosch 12v Drill & Driver. Smaller, lighter and more than enough power for almost any job.

This kit (which currently also gets a free angle grinder at the moment - which I haven't used)

I also absolutely love the mini circular saw. When cutting through thin sheets of ply, just awesome.

I’m with you. So comfortable to use, no fatigue from weight.
I’ve also got the 12v reciprocating saw, which my wife was given as a xmas present one year (by me!) for tree pruning!

Hit the nail on the head mate.
I'm a builder and our company owns some really neat equipment (Bosch, Milwaukee & Makita) that our guys use and keep in their vehicles or on site.

I used to use our 18v Bosch stuff at home but then our Bosch users would always pinch my batteries or chargers and I'd end up not having what I need to complete an ad hoc task so I then slowly started building up a Metabo 18v tool kit for home use, which I love.

However, I keep a Bosch 12v kit in my ute all the time for emergencies on the job and if I'm being honest, I feel this gets the most use at home, purely because they are lighter, take up less space and are just better suited to most home tasks.

I have 4 of the Bosch kits for sale here currently in rotation and with the 8a juicy mumma on, its bloody heavy. You really want the slimline procore 4a on it for general home duties.
        Still, totally overkill for DIY.

The best tool for DIY is the one that's easy to use, light and ready to go when you need it.
Most DIY tasks will simply not be putting any of these "trade spec" tools under rigorous work loads.

Nonetheless, great kit and Procore batteries are IMO one of the best batts out there for 18v tools.

  • dang , batteries alone are $ 400

  • The bonus 2 redemption batteries was an awesome deal ($500 + $100 credit) for 4x 8ah batteries and some power tools. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886064

  • +2

    $379 with powerpass.

  • Good for car work?

    • +2

What sort of work? Suspension/engine - definitely not. Wheels, maybe for small cars, large cars/4WDs no. It's only a driver not a wrench.

      • Claims to be a hybrid with a 1/2 inch square head.

Obviously the torque is quite low for an impact wrench but might be OK for a DIY guy

        • It is very low, mine couldn't crack wheel nuts but as I said it's just a driver, not an impact wrench like people keep calling it. The fact it could take 1/2" sockets and 1/4" bits was the thing that attracted me to it but between the very low torque of the driver and the massive run out on the drill I always regretted buying the kit.

      • Suspension tie rod, control arms, etc

        • Some impact drivers work as well as some impact wrenches for this kind of work - not these ones apparently

          • @pangy: Impact drivers and impact wrenches are two different tools despite what many people think. No impact driver will ever match a impact wrench in torque output.

            • @apsilon: rotate your wheels once a year, use a good impact driver. Horses for courses.

        • No, you'll need an impact wrench or you could crack everything manually then just use this to do the bulk of the threading on/off.

  • Good

  • Didnt need it but got one anyway. Damn you OzBargain.

Bunnings are currently running a spend $250, get $50 voucher.

So, brings this down to $350, or stack with Power pass for an extra $20 off.

  • Can someone please confirm if the spend $250 get $50 voucher (ends 22/6) and the Powerpass 5% discount stack.
I purchased with Powerpass, but concerned I won't get the $50 voucher, which is obviously the better deal!
There's nothing in the terms and conditions indicating Powerpass will void getting a $50 voucher.
It also came with the 210c driver!

    • +1

Mate of mine received a voucher in the past during the AEG promo when he bought the Fusion kit on powerpass

Mine came with a 210C as well. Surprisingly, my friend's kit from Sydney Tools and another one from Bunnings had the 200C

    • I just received my $50 voucher, powerpass discount worked with it

  • There was 2 left this morning at Bunnings Northmead

  • Anyone want to sell me 2 Procore batteries?

  • Took a few days but also got the $50 gift card from the redemption.

Makes the deal even more of a ripper!

  • How does this compare to the dewalt kit?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/912861

    • Bosch has bigger/better batteries (8Ah vs 5Ah), drill has an auxiliary handle and depth stop rod, and the impact driver can also take 1/2" sockets if you need some quick work in a pinch like tightening up wheel nuts or installing coach bolts with a socket. It won't replace a dedicated impact wrench for automotive work though. Bosch also warranties both the tool and the batteries for 6 years, DeWalt's warranty is 3Y.

On the other hand, DeWalt tools are much more compact/light. The Bosch drill is absolutely massive and with the 8Ah battery it's a right chonker. The Dewaly drill is lighter, and the impact driver is very compact and fits nicely into tighter nooks and crannies.

      • some quick work in a pinch like tightening up wheel nuts or installing coach bolts

Having had the Bosch driver, it really can't do either of these tasks. Wheel nuts you'd need to finish tightening by hand and I know mine couldn't put 8mm coach bolts into hardwood even with pilot holes. They're a light duty driver, fine if you understand and can work within it's limits.

        • The 210C that my kit came with did some wheel nuts ok, also drove coach bolts for a TV mount fine (though studs aren't hardwood)

Nothing beats the Milwaukee Gen 4 impact driver, though they are stupidly expensive in Australia and also have a tendency to crap themselves looking at reviews from overseas

      • Thanks. The dewalt kit does come with a bonus reciprocating saw valued at $269.

Or there is this kit that comes with an angle grinder for $399 after cashback. Any thoughts please?

        https://www.bunnings.com.au/dewalt-18v-xr-5-0-6-0ah-2-piece-…

        • The $489 kit is an absolute beast. That drill is one of if not the most powerful drills out there right now. It is a mighty heavy beast of a drill though. That impact driver is also one of the fastest in the market.

It was $449 yesterday but at $489, add something like a set of Dewalt bits or bit holders and you'll get the $100 voucher.

I'd go either the Bosch or the higher end DeWalt between these 3. That said, the $399 DeWalt isn't a bad deal by any stretch.

          • @twister292: "It was $449 yesterday", really?! I was in bunning and I did not see this?

Isn't the High end dewalt (1007) still lighter than the Bosch?

Do you think it is better to have a reciprocating saw or a angle grinder lying around?

            • +1

@concento: I have had that grinder for a while and just got the bundle with the saw. While the pricier bundle isn't that much more expensive, the drill are driver are too big for my needs.

While I haven't used the saw yet, it feels nice and solid and great quality. The grinder is a beast and has cut through anything I've thrown at it.

A couple of things to consider - the grinder is 54v and needs a 54v battery, which is pretty expensive. The grinder is also by redemption, so you'd have to have it sent from Dewalt. The saw can be collected from Bunnings on the spot, assuming they have stock.

I think both redemption offers end tonight.

              • +1

@Munkeyalan: The DCK2201 kit includes one 6AH flexvolt battery which also works as a 2Ah 54V battery for the grinder, hence the redemption bonus with that kit. I do agree the drill is quite big, but the impact driver is quite compact. Although to be fair, the Milwaukee Gen4 and the Dewalt DCF850 are so compact, they spoil you.

            • @concento: The DeWalt DCD1007 is 1.85kg for the drill, plus 900g for the 6Ah Flexvolt battery. The Bosch GSB-18V 85C is 2kg, plus 1.1kg for the battery for a total of 3.1kg. You need the included auxiliary handle with the Bosch, as holding it sideways is much more comfortable. The flipside being the batteries with the Bosch are bigger (8Ah).

Realistically the DeWalt 1007 is a competitor to the Bosch GSB 18V 150C, which is even heavier (3.3kg with 8Ah battery) but it also has automatic angle detection.

DeWalt also only has a 3 year warranty, Bosch has 6 on both tool and battery. Every other brand has 6y on tools, 3y on the batteries.
