Great bottle, this is a really good price. So much better than the straws that get dirty.

    • +2

This is plastic. Not good for micro plastics.

      • Tritan is one of the better plastics in that regard.

        • So guarantee no micro plastic?

          • +9

@Jklaro: You'll end up end up dying of hunger or thirst trying to avoid everything that's bad for you.

      • +1

Does the food you purchase come in plastic? Milk? Everything is plastic.

        • +2

Anything i can avoid like drinking water from stainless steel vs plastic why would you not choose stainless steel?

          • +3

@Jklaro: $75 vs $19 is probably one reason.

            • +2

@Dandaman21: I bought mine for $38. Plus you dont need to get a camelbak there are plenty other stainless options. I had my old stainless bottle for more then 15 years.

              • +1

@Jklaro: Cool, I'm not trying to convince you. You just requested reasons why people dont make the same purchases as you.

          • @Jklaro: stainless steel takes too long to chill in the fridge. fill up the bottle at the end of the day, put it in the fridge, and it's still warm the next warming

            • +1

              @ozbargainjimmy: leave the lid off.

            • @ozbargainjimmy: Its because of double insulation. Either get single layer stainless or fill glass bottles and then fill double insulated from glass when cooled.

      • @Jklaro - so milk, soda water or in this case a water bottle, all plastic in and your saying you'll ingest micro plastics this way?

        • +2

Im saying where you can avoid plastic you should. This is adding unnecessary plastic to ur consumption.

    • I've tried many drink bottles and camelbak chute mag is my favourite. I use it over the way more exy yeti.

  • +8

Just fyi this doesn't fit in most car cup holders

    • I'm struggling with this on my current one. Do you think the 1L version would fit? 0.75L? Looks slightly slimmer and also on special. Same question with the stainless steel 1L too might get that instead

      • -5

Do you think the 1L version would fit?

How would anyone know this without knowing your car?? If you measure your car cup holder size and also provide us with the measurements of a 1L bottle, we might be able to help

        • +2

I just mean like any standard cup holder size. Cars, trays, backpack bottle holders are generally all similar size so that's what I mean. My 1.5L wont fit either in my car cup holder nor my backpack bottle holder so looking for a smaller one to bring about and keep my current one for home.

          • @ThatNintendoKid: The 600ml chute mag fits. It's 600ml though… Or thereabouts. Not enough sweet sweet. H20

        • +2

No 1ltr doesnt fit. You can buy cup holder conversions at kmart for $5 tha fit large bottles into the small car cup holders.

      • +5

I have this in the 1L and it does not fit my cupholder.
        Audi.

        • Damn. Thanks for the input. Maybe 750ml might be the way? Is it close to fitting at the least?

          • -4

@ThatNintendoKid: If you measure your car cup holder size and also provide us with the measurements of a 750mL bottle, we might be able to help

          • @ThatNintendoKid: It’s pretty close to fitting, I suppose.
I just tried it again to be sure.

I have two other 750ml bottles from different brands, and they both fit.

    • And doesnt fit the backpack's side bottle pocket either

  • +2

I've got the insulated version. Pretty solid bottle. Though you need to wash those lids regularly, they can get funky.

    • Good thing about the plastic version is that it's dishwasher safe.

      • The insulated one isnt dishwasher safe?

        • +1

Hand wash only for the insulated

          • @zol: Good to know thanks

          • @zol: I have the insulated version and it says cap and vessel dishwasher safe on the bottom?

          • @zol: Hand wash only for the insulated? Pfft.

If they are designed to store 99 degree water, I'm sure the stainless steel will survive the dishwasher.

      • So this is the plastic? Confused the first colours looks like metal

        • it's grey plastic, the photo can look like steel but its plastic

    • Definitely, I remove the rubber seal with a small toothpick/pick as mould grows under there!!!

  • +2

    Material Synthetic

No go, exactly what is synthetic. Cheap materials verus food grade stainless steel.

  • +1

i have over 8 of these which my son and i use daily and verry happy with these. I also have the 1L insulated ones which i use in summers.

i prefer this size as i can carry more water around and need less refills. They were selling for $22 for quite some time before this.

I chuck the lids in the dishwasher. I find the bottle doesn't clean that well in my dishwasher and guessing its quite big so sometimes i give it a second wash by hand. like the fact that the lids are interchangeable with other camelback bottles.

Nothing like plastic leeching into water. Just buy a stainless steel one.

    • You like the taste of metallic water?

    • +2

How do you know nothing is leeching from your stainless steel bottle into your water?

    • +1

Don’t rate this one. The mouthpiece gets dirty inside and it’s hard to clean effectively

      • The bite valve can be easily cleaned by the straw cleaner tool, like the one with the Sabco bottle cleaning kit that Bunnings sells.

        • i use one and its still not great

        • -1

I have a collection of 4 bite valves for my 2 bottles, I just soak them overnight in a small glass of pure liquid bleach then use a straw cleaning brush like this and they come up like new. Extra valves are 2 for ~$12 when on special

$20 bucks for a bottle damn. Does it come with sparkling water?

  • +1

I dislike this bottle. I've owned it for over a year and its leaked 5 times because I haven't tightened the lid properly and its been resting on its side.

It takes 4 twists to tighten it back up after you are done drinking (so its not like a quick half turn seals it). There is also no visual indicator to show it's been fully tightened (like with a flip lid you can see if its not closed properly as it won't be aligned).

With this you just have to get into the habit of constantly twisting the lid to check its tightened.

    • What would you recommend?

      • +4

Sistema Hydrate Tritan Flip Top Bottle 1L is good. I have used one for 5-10 years now. Flip lid but have not had any issues with it leaking or the clip mechanism weakening. Plus a flip lid is handy if you are wearing gloves. I also like a bottle that is transparent so I can see how full it is. But I did buy my Sistema a long time ago so can't say if the quality is the same or not.

        • Second this recommendation, they also fit in cup holders too which makes them very convenient. They go on sale for 50% off at Woolies semi regularly, including right now.

  • Used to own this bottle, would not recommend due to the difficulty cleaning the rubber seal that rests under the lid, as well as the grooves of the lid that trap grime. It also leaks often as well if not tightened properly. For ease of mind I would suggest a stainless steel alternative.

I can commend its price point so if you are looking for a decent bottle at a reasonable price, and dont mind painstakingly trying to vigorously clean it then this would be a good option.

  • I saw the pic and the price and was thinking why it's so expensive - is it made out of Tritan or something.

It is made out of Tritan.

  • +4

The 1L version has been my daily driver for a few years now and I prefer it over my frank green bottle, I have 0 clue how multiple people have had leaks with the lid from not tightening it properly.

It's really easy/intuitive to feel when it has been tightened properly and it's not a matter of tightening it as much as possible, the lid doesn't loosen and I've never had a leak before.

    • Same here. A post saying it takes 4 twists to close, and that it's easy to have leak; I don't have large hands but can close it in 2 twists, and used throughout the day for years, I can't remember these ever leaking. To anyone put off, it closes clearly and firmly.

  • cleaning this bottle has been a pain, especially around the nozzel

    • dishwasher and then let it fully dry.

      No mould or scum.

  • $20 for this?

You find https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/119032/dec… on sale every month or so for $16.50
