  • The reaper isn't listed on their website anymore, i suspect due to the poor quality fans used, of which this hellhound uses one in the middle (i think) return if you get bad bearing fan noise.

    • You mean the one listed yesterday? You suspect it'll have problems or is this well known

        • That looks like it'll affect the 9060 as well…no wonder it was decent value

      • +6

My reaper is still ok … Will keep an eye on it just in case.

        • +1

You will know straight away if the fans make "ringing" bearing noise under load, my card did and so did my RMA card. So i'm 2 for 2.

        • +2

bro, don't fear the reaper haha

    • I suspect it is not listed because it was the "let's satisfy AMD demand for a $1139 card" and since the wow period is over they quietly phased it out instead of raising the "MSRP"

    • +1

Oh damn they list it as discontinued! That's sad as it was the only 2 slot 9070 XT on the market 😭

  • +2

Great price. I paid 1329 but after shipping and surcharge, it came to 1380.

This card is great for an ITX otherwise there are better cards out there such as the taichi if I recall correctly

    • +1

Oh odd, shipping for me was free. Didn’t buy though, I want white and still HODL for a cheaper price.

      • +1

        Sorry, small correction.

I purchased the REAPER instead of the HELL HOUND.

The Reaper is a shorter card and would fit more easily into ITX cases than the Hell hound.

        • +1

Yeah this Hellhound is longer than my case 😭

damn I was hoping for a restock of the Reaper, guess it ain't coming anytime soon. It's the only 9070 XT model that would actually fit in my case. I'm now considering a 5070 Ti given a) they're so close in price to the 9070 XT and b) RTX cards are often smaller than radeon's

          • +1

@CrispyChrispy: Same bro but the Reaper has been discontinued 😭. I was also after a 2 slot 9070 XT and it seems like the reaper was the only one

    • +5

Better is relative. If looking at Taichi then might as well consider 5070Ti.
And that is from someone who would rather have 9070 XT for $1000 than 5070Ti for $1300.
Besides the fan and coil issues there is not much value in the pricier models of both cards.

      • -1

I'd personally never buy an RTX card. In performance per dollar, they actually win, in terms of ATL. 4070 went down to like 650 once.

        But I want Linux.

        • +3

Are you talking about resale value? Or just price if new? I only found used 4070 on FB for around $800. So not sure if some ATL dip matters. Any other way that they lose in value significantly more than AMD cards (in the same perf tier)? Of course there is the drop due to low memory but that is not the case of these two cards

          • -1

@goodwillN1: Nah. 4070 went down to like 650 once, like a year ago.

AMD isn't competitive enough with ATLs

            • @John Barosa: Yeah, I am still missing your point? Are you saying RTX cards are a bad buy because if you wait you can buy them significantly cheaper?

              • -1

@goodwillN1: No. RTX cards are bad buys, cause they don't work well with Linux. If U want Linux, ur stuck with Arc and Radeon

                • +1

@John Barosa: Ah OK so the ATL has nothing to do with it.
                  Fair about Linux.

                  • -1

@goodwillN1: I'm saying that Nvidia cards are better value at ATLs, and that's realistically the only time I'd buy a graphics card.

                    • @John Barosa: That's idealistically the time most OzBargainers would buy it. The problem is ATL is a moving target and you never know when you hit the actual final ATL until it is finally gone and the later higher prices or lack of stock finally confirm it.

                      • @goodwillN1: You kinda do. IF the generation has been out for 1.5 years, they usually do a sale, to clear out upper midrange models, at like 150-200 off the lowest price.

                        I want a 9070 for 600-700.

                        • +2

@John Barosa: Sure. Everyone has a perceived fair price. If you are happy to wait that long then enjoy.

For those wanting the card nowish this is an OK deal but a little too close to 5070Ti value when they are around $1375. Except for Linux folk.

      • Buying a higher tier AIB doesn't mean less chance of bad coil whine, I have 2 Taichi's and they both have the loudest coil whine I have ever heard.

Kind of pointless having nice quiet fans when the CW screams this bad lol.

Also, the hotspot delta T is 30-40c on the Taichi (even at lower power limit, so 280-300w). The cooler keeps the core insanely cool, like 45-52c under heavy load, while the hotspot easily hits 85c regardless of fans running at 900rpm or 3000rpm.

  • +2

Happy with mine, paid around 80 more.

    • any bad noises from the fans?

      • +1

No, fans are pretty quiet on the whole, once all dialled in. I had some cool whine but seems to only come up in some odd resolutions like splash and loading screens.

I run mine with a light UV, strong mem OC and -10 power. Fans only need to be at a low level to keep temps in check, stock settings might ramp fans harder than required.

  • Does anyone know if you can run 2x 1080p games on this? One on the main pc and another via hyper-v?

    something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQxEwC6lyco

    • +1

I would say universal yes. Obviously it depends on the optimisation of the game.

  • good price but the fact that adrenalin doesnt have instant replay toggle on or off whilst nvidia app does it kinda a bummer, pretty much why i swapped my 9070 xt to 5080. though adrenalin is overall looks nicer and fleshed out compared to nvidia control panel

"a 2400MHz silent gaming clock," yeah yeah in cooler days or using air conditioning.

But in QLD, nah not for long… especially when you play the likes of CyperPunk 2077 or similar on higher settings. No GFX card will be silent.

    Bought one, thanks OP

  • This or 9060 XT 16GB for SteamOS/Bazzite with Ryzen 7 5700X?
I just want better than PS5 Pro performance with the RDNA 4 feature set at a better value.

    • You playing at 1080p or 1440p/low graphics settings 4K? You putting it in an eg. SFF case for on the go or is it staying at home? One is a lot more power hungry than the other, will generate more heat and will be bigger obviously.

      • I just want 4K 60/120 gaming with PS5 Pro-level graphics settings (low-medium in PC terms) and ray tracing, and it will be in an SFF case that won’t be taken anywhere.

    • 9060XT will probably get you the performance you need, however it wont age as well and it is noticeably worse at ray tracing. Not a big problem now but more and more games are starting to use RT as a default. Obviously depends on what games you're looking to play and at what resolutions etc.

$200 more than I'd like but made up the difference by cancelling a few streaming services 👍
