MS Office Pro Plus 2013 or Office Mac 2011 for $15 or $30 with Hotmail Email @ MS HUP

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

Grab your copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 or Mac office 2011 for $8 - $15 depending on what country you choose($8 for NZ, $10 for USA and $15 for Australia.
This pricing is only for eligible email accounts with company/education emails.

Also works with hotmail accounts but will cost you $30, because you will have to buy both the DVD backup copy and then add the license (as per ozbargainers comments, plz read thread page 4 and after).
From teh comments, MS charges $15 for the Licence first and possibly charges the $15 for the DVD later after its shipped. It is possible then to contact Microsoft and cancel the DVD to save $15 as per here.
Also note that when using a hotmail email, you can only purchase MS Office for Windows. Not sure why they dont allow to buy MS Office Mac when using hotmail

To Use with Hotmail:

Use any @hotmail.com address and then Program code 05383F4FAC.
But you better be quick before they fix the hotmail bug
Please all thank methos for the tip

If anyone is interested in the pricing of Office 2013, i got it from here

So, how about the rest of the Office SKU's? For starters, the traditional Office Standard will cost $369, while Office Professional Plus 2013 is priced at $499. Undergrads and doctoral students may want to check out Office Home & Student 2013 for $139.99. Meanwhile, Home and Business is priced at $219.99, and Office Professional 2013 runs $399.99.

Similiar to the deal i posted here that was for the 2010 edition

  • We are sorry, but we are unable to complete your request.
    The following problem(s) exist:
Invalid email address or program code. Please verify you've entered the email address or program code correctly.

Just checked with an old hotmail account. :~

  • Hotmail works for me. But have to order the DVD as well. Installation procedure is rather interesting, after clicking on the download link in the email, it downloaded an small .exe file, then when I double click on the file, the setup process started in background and it download all other necessary files in for you. After it is all done, I was waiting for some sort of setup file to launch but nothing happens. I thought there is something wrong and was about to redo the process again, but for some reason I decide to take a look in the Metro environment…. and realize all the icons are there !!!! (I normally work in the traditional desktop mode, eventhough I have win 8 installed)

    • So does the software actually work for you yet?

  • I would wait if needed Mac version. Remember HUP won't be eligible for free upgrade when 2013 is out. Which is probably just around the coner.

    • office 2013 is just around the corner but there won't be office mac 2013 just 2011 update to include skydrive - office mac 2014 will be next

user for a while first time poster! Thx for this offer used my hotmail account and then went to the dig river site but was unable to purchase for $15. However, if you purchase the backup DVD for $15 (free postage) you still get the entire package for $30 which is still a great deal. Just finshing downloading now and about to do the same for my wife's computer. Thanks again.

    • Are you using the same purchase to install in both computers? A basic question but if you are then do you need to download the file to both machines?

  • Not too sure this happen to my installation or not.

Everything works fine except word 2013, every time we start word, there is a macro security error and we changed the security lvl to enable all macro but problem still exist.

When we open a blank doc or any template (from the new document section) and we also encounter error message.

** We were using office 2007 32bit on win8 64 bit, manually uninstalled office 2007 and install office 2013 from the downloaded img file.

  • Thanks for this great bargain, easternculture.

  • Wow! I call post of the year… Even though we just started 2013. Worked with hotmail when you opt for the $30 backup deal.

Now I finally get to upgrade for office 2007 :P

  • @westpac.com.au works for me. I guess it's any company with a corporate licence.

  • OP Can you update the Price to 30 $, it is still a great deal but the price is now 30, as no one can buy the 15 $ license, only option is to buy it with a DVD which is 30 $.

    • +2

hotmail users only have $30 option now with backup dvd

other eligible email addresses still have $10/$15 option without backup dvd

  • Process went as smooth as silk using a hotmail account set up for the purpose.
    Thanks easternculture and methos.

Great for Surface tablet…. Thinking of getting Surface Pro when it come out in Australia and install this on it. It is design with touch interface in mind…

    • Just a note that full office comes with Surface RT I assume it would also come with surface Pro so need to get this for your tablet.

      • +1

Surface RT comes with Office Preview.
Surface Pro does not come with ANY Office.

        • +1

Surface RT comes with office preview installed but on your first Windows update it converts into full office with no further payment required. The update needs to be run from both metro interface and desktop interface.

        • +1

Really? I thought it was always Office Preview for Surface RT..

          http://www.neowin.net/news/reminder-office-2013-does-not-com…

Well that says Surface Pro won't have Office 2013 on it.. lucky I bought a $8 license for ProPlus :D

  • +1

Entire package for $30 I think it is still great deal.

  • Works on two PCs.

    • Can I use on one pc and one Mac ?

    • So 1 serial number works on 2 different computers?

    • On two PCs , or two Macs if you buy the Mac edition. A serial wont work on one of each.

      • how do u get the mac version?

  • SOrry if it's been asked before but;
    1. So there is a maximum of 2 installations at a time - does this mean if i uninstall and reinstall (say formatting) it counts as one time?
    2. How does the DVD work in terms of the number of times I can install? If I format numerous times can I reinstall with the DVD each time?

    • How do you know that there's a maximum of 2 installations at a time? Have you tried it?

      • +4

        From a post above:

"I found the answers to some of the licensing questions asked above from Microsoft's FAQs.

On how many computers can I install the software?

2 computers, either 2 PCs or 2 Macs, specific to the software that was purchased.

Can I purchase 1 copy of Office Professional Plus 2013 and 1 copy of Mac 2011?

No. You can purchase only one licence for either PC or Mac. You may, however, use the product key 2 times for 2 installations on different machines.

        https://www.microsofthup.com/hupau/faq.aspx?culture=en-AU"

  • Thanks OP. Nice find.

  • Thanks

  • I click add to cart but it doesn't work.

    • Me neither. It says 'Your shopping basket is currently empty'
There is no option to add a backup dvd.

It worked for me last night. Should have brought more.

    • +8

      Open office is a POS.

    • +8

if you can get a $499 RRP product for $10 - $30 why not
im still trying to figure out why your still here :o
To answer your question, your missing out on a lot

    • +1

I also have been using Open office for last 2 years with no problems. I can open word documents and save them to office 2007 format as well. Same for Excel spreadsheets.
But I dont know, I still got Office 2013 yesterday from here using hotmail account for $30. I think it is just a personal preference.

If Open office is working fine for you, keep using it and pass this deal, else it is a damm good deal.

    • +1

      LIBRE OFFICE AND LINUX FTW!

      • Doesn't always work that well. I still find myself firing up Word or Excel at work cause Libre Office cuts of a table in a word document that I needed to view.

        • Yes, but for the price of $0 and freedom, I think it's liveable.

    • -1

and this whole deal is about what . LOL

    • I'm not sure the point of this post. Have you read any of this thread?

  • Great deal, cheers OP

Interesting upon checking the license details show as follows,

LICENSE NAME: Office 15, OfficeProPlusR_Retail edition
LICENSE DESCRIPTION: Office 15, RETAIL channel

    http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/9975/jpgxxt.jpg

Seems they are just selling them as a normal retail license.

I would like to see how a retail edition purchased from a B&M store shows up.

I'm thinking even though these are sold as 'special license' products they are essentially a standard retail product code in the MS back-end systems..

    • +3

My previous HUP licence keys only activated on two computers only (2010) which was my desktop and then my laptop. I had to ring up to get it activated again once I upgraded to Windows 7. No dramas when I spoke to the chap on the phone said they are the same computers just had to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista. They make you tell them this god awful long number and then they make you enter a god awful long number.

Sorry forgot to mention I read somewhere that HUP licences can be reactivated once every 90 days without ringing up after the initial 2 activations.

    • You can also use VAMT 3.0 to view the key, they're retail channel keys, exactly the same as retail edition keys. VAMT 2.0 will not show up windows 8 + office 2013 keys

I'm thinking even though these are sold as 'special license' products they are essentially a standard retail product code in the MS back-end systems..

Yep, that's what they register as.
There are MAK keys as well (although I'm sure you know that) that have a set quantity of activations per key, can be checked via MAK

Sorry forgot to mention I read somewhere that HUP licences can be reactivated once every 90 days without ringing up after the initial 2 activations.

That's some good info, I think that may just apply to any 'retail 1 user' license product for microsoft

  • +1

Got it through Hotmail account $30 including DVD…. Great mate..

  • I got this type of special through my company for previous version, it is a regular retail version.

  • +1

Just to clarify… The deal no longer includes the Mac version? Just for Hotmail adrs?

  • +1

Hi guy's, just downloading now. Purchased via Hotmail account with DVD backup. Can someone verify if it is 32bit or 64bit?

    • I bought my own copy and just got one for my mum without even thinking whether they are 32 bit or 64 bit… We both need 64 bit so I hope it asks you at installation which you prefer….?

      • License will work with either version, they are not 32/64 bit specific.

    • The installer link points to 32bit (at-least it did for me), I forgot to look to see if it could be changed to 64bit, I assume there is a option at some point.

Not a big issue unless you are using huge heavily RAM intensive spreadsheets and the like. There was an .img file posted in the comments earlier for the 64bit installer.

      • By default it links to 32bit but you can choose which bit you want.

        • and if you have a current 32bit install of Office is makes you remove that first if you try and install the 64 bit… I went for the 32bit in the end so all my settings were already there, don't think I will be needing the massive document features of 64bit … dont know what else is does differently though.

    • +6

Regarding 32-bit vs 64-bit, the following is from the Home Use Program FAQs:
      http://www.microsofthup.com/hupau/faq.aspx?culture=en-AU

Is there a 64-bit offering of Office 2013 through HUP?
Yes. A 64-bit version is available through the Download Options link on the Thank you page and the Order History. If you purchased a Back-up DVD it contains the 32-bit and 64-bit version of the software.

Should I install the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office?
The 32-bit version of Office is installed by default. Even if your computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows, we recommend that you install the 32-bit version of Office because it is more compatible with the applications and add-ins that work with Office.

If you do want to install the 64-bit version of Office, you can do so by accessing your Order History. Click on the Download Options link and select the 64-bit option.

It is not possible to install both the 64-bit version and 32-bit versions of Office on the same computer.

  • Can confirm @ghd.com works too. What an awesome deal!

  • Has anyone installed this office on a XP machine? I was unable to install it.

    • +1

      Windows 7 and up only.

  • I bought 4x copies (two of each OS for my wife and I). Thanks OP, extraordinary deal! :)

    • Watchout, people who missed out on the $8 ones are going to neg you :P

      • Haha. I actually paid $15 each for the Australian ones just to be on the safe side (to use my own address).

    • Each license works on 2 separate pc's… I have mine running on 2 different laptops

  • If I order it, can i just wait and use the DVD instead of using up my data?

Its just i only have 8gb where I am at the moment…

  • When I get the email form Microsoft HUP I click on the Buy Now link in the email which opens in Chrome, then i click the Add to Cart, it goes to the next screen and says my cart is empty. What am I doing wrong?

    • Click the 'Add Backup' to the right. You can't buy just the stand-alone digital download it seems.

It is going to cost $30 but you will get posted the discs.

      • Yeah got it sorted, thanks mate

  • -5

Hi if anyone could help me, I register using hotmail and receive receive email to buy now but once I am on ms hub website I am unable to add to shopping cart? Is anyone experience this problem?

    • +2

      Sigh.
Please see the few posts before yours.

    • -5

a more helpful response would be that you must purchase the disk as well now

      • +5

If he opened his eyes more he would see the answer is literally two posts above him.

  • +1

I've tried with 2 different credit cards and a few different email addresses but I keep getting the same error saying it could not complete my payment at the end :(

  • +2

    Thank you!

Bought using hotmail, $30 with a dvd on its way is a great price.

  • +2

Best bargain posted on here in a while, thanks OP and Methos!

  • I wonder what will happen when Microsoft discovers this mistake? And I wonder what will happen to the EA of the company who owns that code?

  • Hey went on the site, put in my email (hotmail) and the Program Code, then got sent a link and followed prompts, would not let me buy $15 version so bought $30 version with backup DVD, then another link for download sent to my hotmail, then followed the prompts and loaded Office 2013. All downloaded successfully. BUT now I go to open Word or Excel and open a blank doc and it crashes "word has stopped working" and it all shuts down. Any tips on why this is happening?

    • If your got old office on there uninstall it.
Turn off AV if on then try.

      • -1

        Doh :( what's AV?

        • Antivirus

        • More doh… Should I really turn off antivirus so I can install something I've got off the Internet?

        • +6

If you didn't get it from a dodgy-looking porn site, you should be fine.

        • -1

Also have now uninstalled Office 2013 and its still showing in the "Program's"? Shouldn't it be gone?

  • housing.wa.gov.au works

  • +1

For a software giant, they sure are taking their time to patch this up :).

  • +1

    hi,

I purchased my mac copy last night using hotmail. It said 'Your payment could not be completed and the status is 'Your order is currently in review'…what does that mean? it won't let me purchase again as only one per customer.

Did anyone get the review error and then everything was approved?

should have just paid more for the australian version..maybe my nz address did not match my credit card address? lol

    • It means it did not work. No money should be deducted and your order will be cancelled after a few days. Our best guess is the credit card company and/or your bank rejected the charge.

  • +1

Any success with purchasing MAC version? Seems it doesn't offer for MAC, the Windows only platform is available

  • I already got the download with Hotmail for 15. Is there any reason to also get a backup? Or at any time can I just download it again?

  • Have they shut down the hotmail option ? I don't see an option to buy the backup media.

  • +1

why is it always more expensive in australia?

  • I think i have seen the Mac version if you purchase it from US site with download only.
