Clearly not selling if it's so heavily discounted already!

    • +43

A 3900mAh battery and no telephoto lens at RRP$1849 could explain it

      • agree. that's why I am waiting for the basic s25 12/256 model drop to $650.

I think 1080p and 1440p monitor doesn't make a big difference, be missing a telephoto lens does.

        • -2

call me crazy but I don't think I've really used zoom on phone…

When you use telelphoto isn't it hard to stabilise ?

          • +2

@Ifndefx: No, not at all, Samsung has had built-in optical stabilisation for years now, no issues at all, even at 10x optical zoom.

        • +1

          Yeh
Weirded out by the Nothing Phone 3.
So got my eyes on S25 base for end of year

          • @0806449: Pricing is a real miss. 8s Gen4 for 8 Elite money. I guess Carl doesn't wanna get Pei'd this time around.

    • wait for a few more months and it will be $699! :D

Shouldnt you be in an apple store?

        • -1

Outside an apple store, because only the homeless worry about the deprecating value of a phone

      • +8

Yeah crazy how a phone with less features depreciates slower, just shows how the target market for Apple are not really tech savvy.

  • Great deal for those specs

  • +1

Not a bad price. Now just need to wait for another Perks coupon to stack :)

Damn. Now I want a stupid edge.

  • how is edge vs ultra?

    • +7

Ultra is the best. Edge is a gimmick with a lame battery. Hence the $800 price drop weeks after release.

I said the edge will flop before it was released.

      • I agree. I was looking at this phone, then saw some reviews about lack of features and battery life and thought Nah. Not for that kind of money. (When it was full price) Pay a bit more and get the Ultra.

        Not even for $999.00.

Bought s25 Edge during pre launch on student discounts. While it doesn't have telephoto or big battery, it is a seriously good phone. I scoffed at it first upon purchase (you can see my comment there) but now I kinda understand it. It is thin and light and can be used one handed.

I was first comparing it to s25 Ultra but its not comparable. If thought of it as iPhone 16/16 plus competitor (when discounted) and it completely makes sense.

I work mostly from my desk and can charge phone in the car so battery has never been an issue especially with AI it uses much less battery than any other phone I have used recently. Heating has not been an issue but will find out more in summer.

The thing that I have appreciated is that I have had to check to make sure I have my phone in my pocket after using much heavier large screen devices. It is the same weight as smaller s25 or only 19gms heavier than my favourite iphone 12 mini.

At $1849, it is a joke. At circa $1300-$1400, this would be good value and will compete iPhone plus quite well. At $999, it is a very good deal, if you are not a heavy user. I wonder where iphone Air will be priced and how well will it stack up!

    • Is it that much more one handable than the S25 though? Consider you could score the S25 for $750 on release and it could be cheaper soon, is $250 more worth it?

I'm coming from the Fold 5 and in folded mode it's easier to navigate and use than my S23 was, and the battery life on the Fold 5 is atrocious when using the big screen, so I agree the edge might be good enough battery already for some.

      • No. It isn't better one-handed than s25 but better than s25 plus, Pixel 8 pro, iPhone plus/max. I am looking through the lens of a larger phone.

If you are used to bigger screen then $999 is worth it. S25 at $750 is much better value though.

I have a fold 5 too (in almost brand new condition) but now exclusively use s25 edge due to weight and usability. The fingerprint sensor is a pain on edge after putting on screen protector as Fold5 has it on the side which is awesome.

Photos from 200mp on edge are almost the same quality as Fold5 50mp so there isn't much to talk about there as well. The 50mp sensor is seriously underrated or 200mp is just overly hyped.

      • How was s25 $750 at launch?

        • Probably. I paid $939 for S25 Edge 256gb & Galaxy Buds FE after old S8 tradein and code stacking via EDU account.

        • Trade in and code stacking. Got my ultra for a bit more than 900 then.

Not impressed with it tbh but good deals at preorder. You'll see posts for the fold soon

    • +1

$1300-1400 was the launch price for the 25ultra 512gb though.

    • S25 Edge should be compared with S25 plus, I've tried them both. They are both similarly priced(ignore both RRP, both are very similar in price when on sale). Specs are also have pros and cons.

      S25 edge:
+ For me camera is better on S25 edge overall, the main lens handle much better low light photos. Even without telephoto camera, the results are still more sharp on S25 edge compare to S25+
      + Lighter and slimmer(Obviously)

      S25+:
+ Better battery life, S25 edge is still okay for day to day, but when you are travelling with lots of camera usage and GPS S25+ battery is way better.
+ Better performance and cooling system, because S25 edge has no vapour chamber it could heat up easily if you're playing game causing to drop FPS OR when you're using GPS while wireless charging in your car, you phones might get too hot(you'll get notification your phone needs to cooldown)

      • Spec wise, you are right. However, these are for two completely different target markets.
S25 edge is more niche and s25 plus for mass users. E.g. Edge fits perfectly in my business suit jacket where other phones I have used looked like they were pulling the jacket down (except for the mini).
Just like Notes and Ultras, the Edge and Plus will eventually blend into one product.

Also, I never use wireless chargers as these hammer the batteries and use tiny 5w chargers for overnight or in the office top ups. Workphone does the Apple carplay/GPS duties and I am not a gamer anymore.

        • I don't think slimmer/thinner phone will no longer be a niche market soon, because Apple, Samsung, and other Chinese brands are now making their thin version of their flagship already. So even if people are now complaining they want bigger phone with bigger battery, seems like phones companies are moving towards this trend of thin phones. Its a similar case when Apple start removing headphone jack, then everyone complains but people forget eventually.

        • They wont continue the plus models for long

    • Im waiting until end of year to get the S25 purely i want a smaller phone and feel lighter.
I using Samsung A73…and i dont think Edge will be 'easier' to use one handed.

What is your typical day usage? I dont consider myself as a heavy user, and general use 40% of the battery daily

  • I would get one for slog video except their footage is still sharpened. so.. no.

  • +1

New Samsung phone is coming next week. Might be they put on special. It’s crazy price. New model for $850 less

    • It's just the Fold and Flip next week. New Edge isn't until at least January.

  • +2

I know 0 people who ask for a THINNER phone but i know everyone would want a thicker one if it included 2 day battery

    • Hey mate .. i use wireless charging in a few places therefore want a lightweight and thin phone with small battery

I bought edge on release day but it was very uncomfortable to hold with square sharp edges. Sold in 2 days.

    • I just want a great camera on a screen ⅔ the size of my Find X8 Pro. It could be twice as thick for all I care. Damn giant screens.

    • +1

      I just want a SMALL phone. I don't mind if it's thicker.

    • +1

I prefer it. By the time you put some cases on like Quadlock, they end up too thick so a thinner phone would make it essier to hold whenbusing those cases. I dont see a need for 2 day battery life unless you dont sleep for 2 days.

got jb hi perk last night in my email about 20% discount on selected appliances, but I can't use on TCLC8K 65inch tv.bad luck.try to see if good guys

    • +1

It is clearly listed in the exclusions…

  • I called this a month or so back. Essentially $0 down on JB Hifi 24 month Telstra deal. They offer $1000 gift card nowadays as standard dont they?

Just sold my Pixel 9 Pro XL for $1000 just to be ready for this deal. Now im wondering should i get it today or wait a bit longer :P

    • +1

Wait for a better deal, i got $1,400 back for the S24 Ultra and a $100 gift card at the time
Ended up quitting Telstra due to crap network

      • yea buddy .. there's no better network, you must have just lucked out in your area

        • They installed 5g towers which significantly reduced the range

  • No one asked for a thin phone with mediocre battery

    • +1

yep, i do .. some people use wireless charging and my phone never goes below 50%, therefore need to save weight and thickness.

  • Perks work for the s25edge?
