Congratulations on your attempt to turn history on its head.
@CptnObvious: Overseas merchants have never been required to pay GST, that responsibility (in the vast majority of cases) lays with the importer.
In respect to low value imports, there was no legal obligation for anyone to pay GST until Gerry stepped in.
luffyex answered the JobKeeper statement.
@jackspratt: Totally false. The Chiiina exporters are the ones footing the GST - not the buyers, not the public. Period. It was a good pickup by Gerry to keep the playing field fair and bring in extra import tax towards Aussie government's coffers. Gerry is a good guy.
Re: Jobkeeper, how is it Gerry's fault if the government did not mandate he needs to pay it back. If a bank gave you $1M would you really give it back if you didn't have to?
Totally false.
Totally wrong.
Chinese exporters, for business reasons, are voluntarily charging GST to Australian buyers, and remitting it to the ATO. Australian law does not apply in China, or any other foreign country.
And the exporters weren't required to do that before Gerry.
You seem to be as misinformed as Trump when it comes to import taxes.
@jackspratt: I’m just red inside through and through - if you cut me open, I’d probably bleed barbecue sauce and country music.
@CptnObvious: Your name 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 it really should've been more obvious from the start.
@jackspratt: It is kind of sad of affairs that now a now-a-days you can't tell if it is satire or him being genuine.
It depends how one look at the fill of the cup, your perspective you see Mr Gerry, a Champion for local retailing business which is not wrong but for some others, he's just a selfish businessman.
Well some of us see him not much of an angel but a normal rich savage businessman who cannot embrace change in the online business model. He is not doing it for the Australian people but more for his business and wealth.
JobKeeper Payments:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Harvey Norman received millions of dollars in JobKeeper payments but did not return the funds despite turning a profit, unlike some other large companies according to HRM online.
Minimum Wage:
Harvey Norman publicly resisted calls for a 3.5% increase in minimum wages for employees.
Misleading Advertising:
Harvey Norman and Latitude Financial Services were found to have misled consumers regarding interest-free payment plans, hiding fees and requiring customers to sign up for a Latitude GO Mastercard.
Attitude Towards Online Shopping:
Harvey has been criticized for his public statements against online shopping, even calling those who shop online "un-Australian".
Tax Avoidance:
Harvey Norman has been accused of operating subsidiaries in tax havens and effectively paying no tax in Australia, despite having significant Australian profits.
Public Relations:
Harvey has been criticized for his public persona, which some perceive as arrogant and out of touch with ordinary Australians.
Customer Service:
There have been complaints about Harvey Norman's customer service and pricing policies.
I am one of the unhappy ones as it used to be zero gst from overseas purchase below $1k now it's extra 10% and the ironny…. Mr Gerry's company itself import nearly 50% of his selling products from overseas (below $1k products)
The conclusion you can support anyone you like eventhough he could be a rotten egg, it's a free country.
Didn't vote fyi 🙊🙈🙉
he literally lobbied to get the government to bring in the GST for imports under $1000 act
third party sells for 79.99 on Amazon.
Buy from Amazon AU $88, then use the NAB $10 off $80 spend, which comes down to $78
Or buy something else for a dollar and get it for 71ish
Anyone knows if these buds got in-ear detection function?
Nah, they will keep playing if I take them out so I have to remember to pause them
Still very good though, very snug and I came from jabra elites (RIP)
I actually hate the in ear detection in my buds2 pro it is stupid for watching live streams and suddenly I'm behind because the buds decided to pause.
No option to turn it off either.
Finally someone understands my pain. I watch a lot of live streams and this feature annoys me the most.
i just tested my FE's, youtube and spotify pauses fine when i take them out, just need to manually resume when i put them back in
I think maybe I'm getting confused. I think I've experienced taking out one bud hoping to pause it or something. I guess know the behaviour is a bit different to the old jabras
@greater mimic: Having picked up the Google Pixel buds pro 2 from the recent Telstra deal, I find the fit to be terrible for my ear size. I'm constantly fiddling with them making sure they're going to stay in and I'm on the largest ear tip that came in the box. Also this is just during normal use like on the bus or walking down the street.
I love how my older Jabra Elite Acitve 75t fits perfectly in my ears and if the fit with the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE is comparable, I'll pick up a pair.
Can you comment on the fit and also how's the noise cancellation? Need to take a call on the bus every now and then.
@dollarandcents: Try a smaller size. Sometimes we need smaller rather than bigger to get a good fit.
@dollarandcents: i had jabra elite 3's they fit very nicely, FE's are just as comfortable, if that helps
ANC is great, not 100% block out but atleast 90%, worked very well on the airplane the other day
calls/mic also work very well
I can confirm on my iphone, in ear detection works. Music stops playing when I take them out and resumes when I put them back in.
Nevermind I think I'm mistaken
yes it does, if you take them out of your ear it will pause the media
Great, thanks. I'll get one pair then.
haven't had an issue with them myself. easily the best earbuds ive tried for gym.
Agreed, they seems to stay in really well for me and I usually have lots of problems with in-ears falling out even with normal activity.
And the noise cancelling work quite well - maybe not AirPods Pro level quiet but it does cut out maybe 70-80% of the background noise.
Best buds I've tried.
Worst would be the buds 2 pro, middle would be buds+.
What didn't you like about buds2 pro? I've got them now and love them, I used to have buds+ and also loved them.
I'm not sure about the buds 2 being the worst either.
Most of them are tuned very similarly before the buds 3 pro (including buds+ and first & 2nd pro). All targeting the harman curve.
To me, the buds 2 pro is easily the most comfortable. I would leave it in my ears with no sound, until the battery drains on a plane flight feeling no fatigue/pressure points.
I never tried the buds 2 though, since I loved the buds 2 pro so much i didn't care
For me the sound of the buds 2 pro was the same as the FE but they don't stay in my ears properly so to get good sound out of them I need to keep pushing them in.
I even tried foam tips to solve the issue but it didn't work.
Maybe the shape of my ears doesn't work for them.
The FE stay in my ears without needing any adjustments one j put them there.
chances this will go cheaper on prime day?
Who knows. Either way, good bang for your buck.
I am hoping for this too!
Might be sold out too.
These or soundcore space A40 ?
These are holding value
Got them for $74 during Christmas 2023
Anyone know what the microphone quality is like for the other person on the call ? I get complaints about my bose qc2 earbuds all the time. Looking for a daily driver for podcast and phone calls.
exactly why I have just ordered a pair
it's rated 8/10 for travel & office calls, better than some expensive models.
https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/samsung/galaxy-bud…
I use these for work zoom calls all the time
How long do the batteries last in real world? This could be a good earbuds for watching TV when others in the family are asleep.
Long time in my experiences. Maybe 4-5 hours or more
yeah about 5 hours with ANC on in my experience. certainly long enough that i very rarely think about charging them, they charge real quick in the case also.
Black are currently $80.99 on Amazon.
Comment for use as sleep aid…
I own:
fe,
buds 2,
buds 2 pro.
IMO… YMMV…
Fe =
best secure fit for most (winged part) by quite a margin, good for gym.
Worse for everything else but I only really notice noise cancelling and music quality.
Can afford to lose.
Buds 2 =
most comfortable.
Best for sleeping (due to comfort).
If i had to have only one, it would be this.
Buds 2 pro =
best noise cancelling (active but especially passive)
Too big to be comfortable side sleeping.
Not worth the extra $ for most but would be great for back sleepers.
Fe and 2 sometimes keep playing when taken out of ear and put in pocket.
Green sleep noise is my go to.
First time reading about someone sleeping with earbuds in. I find that weird.
I'm another tws sleeper, trying to find a new comfy pair.
How does the FE compare for side sleeping?
Appreciate your write up
Fe and 2 both work for me side sleeping.
Both have about same amount of pressure on ear. Neither is super comfy though when side sleeping. Good enough for me.
Mostly about how far it sticks out of the ear for me.
Pro is just too big.
Fe always stay in.
2 sometimes come out.
Was going to recommend going for buds 2, but at current prices… $250 vs $90… Id go fe and maybe replace the tips with foam ones for better noise canceling if you feel the need.
Note that Ive never tried buds that are meant for sleeping (low profile).
Thanks mate
For sleep, get the soundpeats air pros. So small. Cost 30 bucks.
Officeworks refusing to beat Amazon because it's a third party seller. Ordered for $78.99 on Amazon - it's a good price, with delivery on Monday.
do they pair with iphone with all features or needed an android phone?
finally got something to purchase from HN to use the free gift card when purchased a mobile, thanks
Thanks, price matched at Good Guys + $3 delivery. Had an old giftcard I finally used.
Did you have to speak to someone to get this?
The price beat button isnt showing up for me on the site.
Viewing on mobile, bottom right hand corner it should have a 'pay less' bubble, click and it opens up virtual assistant chat and just click best price.
These earbuds are great if you have a Samsung. Really good fit. If you get the wavelett app (android) and import the profile for the Galaxy buds Fe the sound quality is good too.
For $88 it's a great deal.
$88 headphones and 88 votes. must be my lucky day
$88 At Officeworks
I have the newer bud pro 3, hate them. These are amazing for the price and superb fit.
I have the XM5s. They are awesome.
But I also have these and for the money cant be beat. Good sound, calls are fine and easily the best fit for me of any bud on the market. Running etc wont move theee, a d they remain comfortably placed.
79.99 on amazon if you prefer to buy there
