this + nvidia shield 2019 pro

      • I prefer the stand on the lg or samsung as they would fit…, this stand spreds far apart. Also it's 60hz which is okay but not for a pc monitor

        • +3

This is a TV not a PC monitor

Picked one of these up a few weeks ago for a bedroom TV at a little less than this price from TGG and it’s adequate. I have a dark bedroom so needed to calibrate the settings, but it’s good. One issue I have found is it requires a forced reboot after powering on for sound to work from an HDMI device occasionally. AirPlay is built in which is handy too.

    • I just got approval from FFalcon to return one back to TGG. Similar issue to yours but mine would freeze in the standby position, ie the remote nor button on the tv itself would turn it back on. Only happened every now and again. You had to power cycle it to fix it which isnt ideal. Prior to this model i had a little 32 inch 1080p ffalcon for 5+ years and it was flawless so im not sure what happened with this model.

Same issue with the entry level TCL’s they seem happy to just replace them instead of repairing so I’d just ask for a replacement. Had a couple of TCL’s have the same issue and it was an easy swap, the ffalcon in the kids room hasn’t done it though I guess it’s luck of the draw

This is the usual offer price. This 2025 edition sems to be based on TCL as per past Ozbargain threads. Philips model is a bit more with 3 years warranty.

Ford Falcon really went through some design changes

a lot of reviews complain about the picture quality - I think they are watching SD tv on this which is indeed horrendous. HD and 4k are fine.
Does get a bit slow after updating, but is pretty decent for the price.

No chance of a decent picture in this price range, I'm assuming the people here reporting good things either have zero standards for picture quality or don't have eyes.

Heh, reminds me of that one post that went around last month.

In complete seriousness is this as good as the spec sheet sounds? AirPlay + chrome cast, 4K HDR 50” smart TV functionality and decent speakers? Thinking of maybe a half father’s day gift or Christmas maybe (honestly just trying to find an excuse to buy it for the lounge room 😅)

Most of the time will be either live TV, switch 2/xbox, or YouTube/foxtel app on smart tv hopefully? Otherwise have to chrome cast from Foxtel go

    • In my view, a 50-inch screen is too small for a lounge room, but different strokes…

The price is good and am sure it'll be snappy enough for basic use, but holding out for a 65", 70" or 75" deal for a little longer might prove worthwhile.

With the way we have our big cabinets set up surrounding the TV on both sides and a connecting shelf in between over the top, a 50" is the biggest that we can fit in there. Only thing we can do really is get one of those wall-mountable extender thingos to push the TV out further and bring it closer

    • +2

Yep. All of those features are included. The speakers aren’t anything special, but are fine enough. Bluetooth headphones or speakers are simple to connect and select as an output too.

I have it in my bedroom with an Xbox One S and Switch connected to it for casual gaming, and using Plex. AirPlay works well and the TV can be added to you home and Apple Remote. Chromecast works as expected too.

Responsiveness of UI and apps has been good with no slowdown since I got the TV.

If the size and price suits you, go for it.

Haven’t tried gaming on these but I have it in the bedroom and it works as good as the “better” tv’s in other rooms. Mainly for streaming apps and to watch content from my Plex server it handles 4K no issues and the appletv I used to use with tvs is sitting unused now. Picture quality is good the sound is fine for the bedroom id probably get a soundbar for a lounge room but that’s the case with most entry level tvs

Resale value on these Chinese TVs is quite poor. You'll be lucky to get $100 for it after a few years.

    • +5

      Who's going to resell it?

      • -2

Once you upgrade to a better/larger TV.

        • +1

Almost every brand of TV is worth very little once it leaves the shop…….. who would want to take the chance of a TV out of warranty except if the price reflects the associated risk.

    • +1

      So you're telling me I can get a 2022 model for $100? Now that's a bargain

    • isn't everything made in China these days?

  • Gf and I both bought one each a few months ago and they are still going strong. Great value for the price.

Please come back to us when they hit the first decade anniversary…🤪

This would still be better coming from a 15 year old Sony CCFL LCD right? KDL40EX500 to be precise

  • Isn't this normal price?
