    3 kg if anyone wondering
Not to consider as carry on at all.

Would you say most of this ilk are roughly the same weight?

      • +7

1.9 to 2.1 kg is norm, especially if you are travelling with CO only.
With 7 kg limit the empty bag itself is 43% of you allowance.
By getting lighter bag at slightly higher price point will pay for itself if you are making regular trips.
July is mere 1.8 kg but the price is on the higher end.

I rekon the extra 900g is nor here or there.. especially with decent airlines. I suppose your trashy zero frills' airlines i.e. Frontier mighthold you to 7kg but then I would rather something study and durable than cheap light case that might be 2kg but snap first time it gets a knock.
Do you have an example of sich a light weight carry on thats durable?

@Gavman: Dont think all those who are paying for light carry on are travelling by tashy no fills air lines.
All depending on check in staff at different airports. Some places they don't check. Some are more vigilant.
I have seen QAN checking it at the gate when they realised the flight is fully packed during School holidays.
There is a market for light weight carry on and people are willing to pay a premiun.
If it is soley used as a carry on knocks are not an issue. Again depends on the traveller and how you are travelling afterwards.
I just made a point to save time for those who would like to know

          • @Gavman: Gavman the Antler gear is light and durable.

@Gavman: If you want light weight and durable, nothing beats Samsonite. The price is dear though.
Otherwise, any Antler or American Tourists would do. 3-3.5kg is typical but they don't break easily.

            • @itstuan: Samsonite quality has fallen off a cliff unless you’re paying for the top of the line at which point there are better competitors
