  • Where is the bargain ?

    • Forums

      • How much are forums normally?

    • Where

      At Bunnings.

    • pretty sure everyone already knows this already lol not sure why they posted this.

      • I didn't to be fair. Pretty sure it's new.

        • Hardly new they always ask you at registers

          • @chris666: Never for me and the description said from 19 August 2025

          • @chris666: You could always collect flybuy points at bunnings but couldn't redeem them

    • After the Oz

  • no bargain, no deal

  • Meh.

  • You'd probably save more money by getting yourself an ABN and applying for a powerpass card.

    • yep exactly. Thought I could double dip but apparently not, so back to my powerpass.

    • Can anyone apply for the ABN?

      • I think 'legally' no, but you just need to argue you are starting a potential business?

        • Not true. Legally anyone can apply for ABN

          • @illusion99: Legally no, not everyone can apply for ABN. From ABR gov website:
"You may face prosecution or criminal charges if you apply for an ABN, when you’re not entitled."

            • @mfu: Imagine getting a criminal record for incorrectly requesting an ABN number, lol government

            • @mfu: Is creating a 2nd account considered fraudulent and even potential criminal?

          • @illusion99: Australian taxation office has joined the chat….

  • Anyone tried this with their OnePass linked to FlyBuys and been able to use FlyBuys points or do you need to specifically use FlyBuys card?

    • Cant stack flybuys with powerpass, which would mean you cant use points. Unsure if you can use
Flybuys separately (you can at Coles)

      • Who said anything about powerpass?

        • Nobody did 😀

    • It's linked so works fine with just scanning the OnePass

  • I thougth this has been goong on for ages. I have been scanning flybuys at Bunning since quite a while ago

    • Scanning to earn points, and redeeming using points are different things :)

  • Could always redeem there using FlyBuys Dollars, no?

    • no?

      no

      • Bickies?

    • but you can use it to exchange for bunnings gc, even if you don't have enough points for a $50 or $100 denomation, just pay the difference in cash. Good way to cash out your points if you are afew hundred points short.

      • Yeah maybe I’ve done it this way. Definitely feel like I’ve redeemed flybuys for Bunnings goods before

  • Better to use points as money off or changed to Velocity Points?

    • Of course your better to change them to velocity points, if your using them for flights. At least double the value, or more if you do it right.

      • Don't see good value for domestic. Any international recommendations?

    • But if you're not flying… plus note Airlines devalue points sometimes.
      Bird in the hand!

      • can I use velocity on singapore airline?

        • You can through a transfer from VA to SIA (and vice versa) but they take a cut for it from either way from the transfer, off the top I believe its 1.75 points to 1 point on a transfer. I've also found you get more value from using your points on domestic flights than international flights (specifically on a different carrier, cannot say on the virgin short haul international flight).

          • @RustyShackleford53: You can book Singapore Airlines directly with velocity, no need to transfer if you see an available flight
            e.g: 29,000 Velocity MEL-SIN plus $177 taxes
Or 30,500 (47,300 VA transfer) KrisFlyer plus $114 in taxes

            • @Coops1: hmm good to know, I guess I was speaking from the perspective of points + pay…. found the amount of points to how much it can get off the ticket price does not match the same as it would for a domestic flight.

              • @RustyShackleford53: Points plus pay is like paying full cost of the flight, and basically only getting half a cent per velocity point value etc

  • I did this the other day and I get a message from the missus half an hour later asking WTF I’m doing at Bunnings again.

I forgot she gets notifications on those bloody things.

    • My husband and I share a bank account. I’m telling you the notifications are endless! Every time I go to work, Bunnings, Aldi and Costco.

      • I had to get a refund on some of the stuff, and they had to refund points too.

So again she gets a notification. And again I get the “WTF are you doing at Bunnings again?!” message.

        You’re right. It’s endless!

    • Did you pay using your physical flybuys card the same way you do at Coles? ie select card payment, swipe the card and enter pin.

      • I have it on my phone. Scanned it before making the payment and it asked if I wanted $10 off.

        • Thanks. That means I won’t be able to use the trade pass :(

  • Do they give $10.05 for 2000 points? if yes then bargain, otherwise should be in Forums.

  • I wonder when they can bring the redeeming point for eBay again. It used to be the best way to spend the points, because you could buy an eBay gift card and use the gift card with other discount codes.

  • Get gift cards with flybuys, much more worth

  • isn't it the same/easier for coles?

    • The same. Worth half a cent per point or in other terms 0.5% discount value on a $1 shop

    • Same points:dollar value, but if you regularly buy discounted gift cards to use at Coles, then it would be better to use FlyBuys points at Bunnings, because discounted Bunnings gift cards are harder to come by.

  • Any idea why sometimes can only use $10 (2,000 points) but sometimes can be the full amount, for example $38.00 (7,600 points).

Sometimes the points can be used without authentication, sometimes have to enter a redemption code (4-digit code from FlyBuys app).

I have all these happening in the past couple of days, at the same Bunnings. According to the checkout person there's no option to choose. Very confusing.
