    move to forum.

  • +4

Regular pricing + not even in stock yet = not really a deal.

    • +12

Beats Hardly Normal not having it in stock and selling for $100 over mark.

      • +5

just because some an old bastard listed a ridiculous price for a phone in his shops, doesnt make this piece of news a real deal.

        • at the least it makes him a rip off.

      • +1

Agreed, I still don't understand how the Hardly Normal deal didn't get moved to Forums like this one.
They similarly didn't have stock (until, reportedly, today) AND they're charging $77 extra!

I'm looking forward to the Play store being back in stock, just so I can neg the HN "deal".

I've also gotta make up my mind whether I want a N4… Been holding out for a nice upgrade to my Galaxy S1 which is getting along fine so far, but rather long in the tooth.

      • Well buying the 16GB from Google would have cost $420 delivered.

Buying from Harvey Norman is $496 which you can pick up.

      • 'Hardly Normal' is exactly that - this doesn't qualify for a deal, solely because the competition is using a massive mark-up. There was already a deal posting for the initial release of the N4, which had a large number of +'ves… we don't need a rehash, merely because it's back in stock.

    • +1

Agree. Even though it is a great price for this phone, it is just regular price. And the frustration of going through stock being sold out in double quick time, is just not worth it. Unless Google make sure there are plenty of stock available this time round.

  • +6

Better than the HN rip off price :)

  • A bit like iPhone limited-stock marketing tactic

  • It's Google Play Store's regular price. More like a "restock announcement" than an actual deal. Moved to forums for discussion.

Not such a great deal when the LG Optimus 4G/LTE is being released in Australia next month apparently:

    • +4

So it's an LG Nexus, without the benefits of the Nexus program… given LG's track record with updates, I would be steering clear.

    • +6

Uh, this is a lot cheaper.

      • +2

        $750-800 vs $400
Despite the added features, the price difference swings the balance well and truly toward the Nexus

  • +2

Agree this probably is more of a forum topic, but thanks to the OP as I may have missed it in the forums. Thinking about getting one, and the lack of 4G is less of an issue for me - others I know who have a 4G 'phone complain of poor battery life when it's enabled. They love the speed of course, but I can put up with waiting a little more for the odd email if it means not having to charge the 'phone during the day - so I'd probably normally run with it disabled (if it supported it) unless I was tethering. Paying $50 extra compared to the US price does hurt a little though. ;-)

  • How well will this phone work on Optus 3G?

    • +1

      Very well lol

  • Hopefully is in stock tomorrow, been waiting tobuy

  • I'd love to own a Nexus phone but no external memory kills it for me -_-

    • +1

I used to be like that. Then I found the cloud. Music and files live on the cloud and leftover data is enough for movies and apps..

now I'm just unsure if I should even bother with the 16gb.

      • +2

I never thought I'd use the 32Gb in my Lumia 920 until I started taking FHD Video, had it for a month and used half of it.

  • +4

I'd wait for White Nexus 4..

  • good luck, every one!
    got one!

    2-3 weeks waiting needed!

  • Just bought mine!

  • +1

    Bought.

  • ARGH! Unspecified technical issue on checkout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • +2

try reentering your credit card details. Same thing happened with mine. Maybe cos i didn't have address details included for the card.

      • Thanks, that's what it was.

It would've been nice for the website to say that, rather than just an "uh oh, there was a technical issue…".

    • had same msg. try again. del cart item and add again. worked for me :) good luck!

  • -7

bought 2, ebay here I come

    • +1

how nice of you, I bet in true OzBargain spirit you will auctioning starting at 1c? You should list that here…

  • -2

the iphone's talk/standby times really suck compared to new phones

  • Wow they are still available. I guess they worked out their stock levels.

The frustrating thing for me was that I couldnt register interest so they were still guessing about just how many people wanted…

    • The whole affair, particularly Google's lack of communication with anyone, was abysmally handled.

Completely destroyed my opinion of Google as a reputable company.

      • +2

Google is a company just like any other company they aren't perfect and they are here on this earth generally to make money. As a company I'd say they've improved my life just because hey I can search ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING and get a result. My friend told her doctor didn't know what her child was dying of and no one knew they GOOGLEd it and found the answer! All I can say is sure Google and Facebook promote ads but they are just a bit annoying and although they do annoy people at the end of the day you get stuff done! Same thing with Microsoft Office btw… I love to hate all these companies the only company I can say doesn't mean anything to anyone is Apple they are just a status symbol!

  • Woot hopefully shipping is faster than 2-3 weeks…

  • Im so relieved I got one. Just rang HN and told them to cancel my reservation. That's $77,- worth of accessories I can get now. Now to figure out what accessories are going to be essential. Any suggestions?

Bit of a bummer that they dont have bumpers…..

    • +1

There's quite a few options. Try reading reddit.com/r/nexus4 for some international but good suggestions or just visit the xda nexus 4 forum and click on accessories for some good comparisons and such.

  • Got mine, now will have to think of a good excuse when wife asks about it

    • +2

You'll be entertained and won't complain as much when you go shopping.

    • +5

On the day before you show her, just say this: "is that a new outfit? You look stunning" Seems to work for me :)

    • +1

      Buy her one too!

  • +1

    16gb is sold out

    • it's allowing me to "add to cart" (I don't need another though so I didn't go through the whole process :P)

      • back in stock, they probably added some more units

  • Super-lame. I checked ozbargain 2 hours ago via the Android app and saw nothing about the N4 then I come back and the original thread was re-posted up when all the 16GB units were already sold. Trashing the app…

    • See above dude - it seems to be back again!

      • nvm, it shows out of stock and then available, so not sure it it is a browser issue or they are adding stock

      • Yea I unfortunately do not have the time to sit in front of my screen and press refresh every 30s in the hopes that stock comes back.

        • hence why i sent the post to try and let you know..

        • Umm, I appreciate the effort but that doesn't really help my situation: I still need to refresh to see the comments in which case I should have spent that time refreshing the Play Store instead. Win for logic!

  • I ordered mine (Nexus 4 16GB) at 9:05AM this morning.
Google Play is still showing these as in stock

  • "Ships in 2 - 3 weeks."

So does that mean I won't receive it by the 13/02? Leaving the country then and was thinking abt getting a 2nd roaming phone.

  • It means they will not ship it from their warehouse or wherever they ship from for at least 2-3 weeks. You wouldn't get it before that date.

Edit: fail, I meant to reply to the user above lol.

  • Shipping estimate: February 21, 2013.
That's really 3 whole weeks. Does anyone get an different estimate shipping date?

    • +1

Nope, I don't get a different date but I read somewhere that those estimates are pretty broad… I expect mine next week.. (ya hear that, google?)

      Edit: Clarity

    • Where did you see the shipping estimate?

      • +1

In Play Store, Click on the "Gear" icon on top right hand corner > My Orders and Settings.
Or, scroll all the way down, there is another "My Orders and Settings" link there.

        • Sweet, thanks! mine's down for 21 Feb too.

  • Great!!! purchased mine this morning; delivery date 21 feb :)

  • 16Gb temporarily out of stock now

  • Crap, slept in - missed out…

  • +2

neg the fact this has been moved from the forum.
Sure this was RRP, but it's the best RRP for any phone in the history of phones as far as I'm concerned.
It's a rare deal that doesn't last and this phone goes for $530 on eBay. Maybe if Google had constant supply for $399 it wouldn't be a deal. But since it's hard to come by defiantly a deal.

EDIT: Just noticed the box on the home page to the right.

    "Notice
    Deal Updates 31/1
The Google Store is now selling the Google Nexus 4 phone again after 3 months of being out of stock.
Today is the last day to upgrade to Windows 8 for $40. As of tomorrow, the price will go up to $200."

That's makes removing this from the deals not so bad, since everyone can still find out about it and I guess it doesn't have to be up there twice. But I still feel it shouldn't have been moved to the forums.

  • -3

Lets hope that a phone comes out better then Nexus 4 and cheaper.
When it does, I hope google get stuck with alot of them and have sell them cheaper.
Google needs a lesson in providing a better stock flow of these phones.
They had heaps of time to sort it out, however they playing silly little supply/demand games
with consumers. How many sales have lost to Samsung and co. That goes for their NEXUS 10
I bet other suppliers are laughing all the way to bank.

    • Supply issues was LG's fault, they had production issues and problems sourcing materials I think. The next google phone is Google X Phone, will be made by Motorola which Google now owns the mobile division. I read there expecting the phone's base price to be approximately $300.

So in the end you cannot blame Google, and they are making their own true Google phone right now to be released in about July, so lets hope it'll be a good one with no production issues.

      • So nexus 10 is samsung fault? Because it has been low/none stock too

        • ahh didn't realise that. My Bad.
I read it in an article, which I figured was fairly reputable.

Otherwise if the Nexus 10 is competitivly priced maybe it still maybe Samsung fault wanting to produce their more profitable devices first. When Motorola release their next device, since Google own them they may not want to push there competitive device first.

Also we cannot blame Google, Samsung or LG because the price is just to good. If the price is too good of course their going to struggle to keep up with demands. I know Apple manufactures on a much greater scale but I guess it's a similar story with them, I know tones of people who have been waiting so long for the iPhone 5 they pre-ordered they gave up and bought another brand and I guess popularity wins there as well being a highly anticipated device which should level out because of the devices premium.

If Google didn't give cheap prices, lets say charged $500 for the 16gb which is still a bargain they would probably have lasted a good month or so in their store.

          Maybe I'm talking a load off bull-crap here. But it's what I believe :)

I actually commend Google on trying their best to make a move on the price of Android Devices. Sometimes I think Samsung is highly profiting of their device, after all their now popular and know customers will buy even if it costs more. But I believe Google thinks profit isn't everything and is willing to make customers happy, perhaps that will result in more Android Market purchase and make them money in other ways.

        • +1

as much as i'm an android fan i can't help but take a more cynical view to "making customers happy." remember they sell software, that is, market share means everything to them, while the partners, who have very different agendas (sometimes ending in the same goal, such as market share, other times, not so much).

      • +3

It's not quite that simple. LG blames Google, Google blames LG. Most likely it was a combined failure. Either way neither company actually cares because the Nexus is about promoting android and furthering the market not making money. If you are upset about not being able to get one you are already converted.

        • +1

Yeah. Both at fault. Google, for miscalculating demand and ordering a small number of devices. LG for needing quite a long time to manufacture another batch. Google for absolutely sucking at any sort of customer communications. Small problems on both sides translates to lots of end customer frustration and brand damage.

  • Got a call this morning from Fedex confirming the recipient name and address for delivery, apparently the shipping company did not register my name correctly. I checked with the guy and he said its already on its way and should be delivered by latest Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

My CC has been charged "You've made a purchase on Google Play. You will not be charged until your order has shipped." so I assume whatever the guy mentioned this morning is true.

Can I print my order receipt from Google and claim TRS has someone done this before.

    Exciting times ahead!!

    • Wow that was fast … Where do u live?

      • Melbourne, I had ordered 9:01AM on the day when it was available. I have received an email mentioning it would be delivered today.

  • I had a delivery attempt this morning for my phone. Singapore to Melbourne in less than 24hrs from time of placing an order. Crazy! One problem - they attempted to ship to my billing address as opposed to my nominated shipping address. I will take delivery next week now which I'm not that bothered about as I wasn't expecting it for 2 or so weeks.

Anyone who has had their credit card charged will have their phone on the way. I ordered mine as soon as they were available at 9am yesterday.

TRS: Yeah you can claim as you paid GST on your purchase.

    • Did anything change in your Google Play account to stay attempted delivery?

      • Nope. Just a call from the courier who quoted a tracking number and told me to call DHL. No email notifications at all.

        • wow. That was quick.

        • +1

Google ship via Fedex don't they, not DHL?

    • +1

Google deliveries are Fedex not DHL…sure there isn't something else on its way to you….

      • I got mixed up. :) Fedex and received my phone this morning.

  • Hmmmm, its more reasonable to get this over an iPod touch………

  • The news of this latest shortage has hit all major online IT news sites. With the typical added quote "no comment from Google"
In this age of buy now technology. The one who wins is one that supply the goods.

    • +2

The one who wins is one that supply the goods.

Of course they do… that's how business works?

  • Did anyone else get charged another $2 for something from google play??

    • IIRC, it's just an authorisation for your card (happened to me with my first app purchase on the Play store), and should be refunded within the next couple of days. It's something like a 'dummy' charge to verify with the bank's billing system… a Google search will tell you more.

  • Just got an email, mine has shipped.

    • Yup, also just got an email with Fedex tracking, which says that shipment was just initiated from HK. I completed my order yesterday at 9:02am.

      • Me too! ETA, Monday! Woooo

        • mine too!

        • Mine just changed from Monday to Wednesday. Boo
I also noticed that the estimated arrival time in the email is different to whats shown on the FedEx page…?

  • Mine, anyone has experience with Fedex? They suggested delivery at 6pm Monday. Is it possible?

    • Me too. FedEx's scheduled delivery is Monday 6pm. Seems like its out of hours.

  • Just received shipping notification for my Nexus 4.
Was anyone able to order a nexus 10? I never saw them coming back into stock?
