  • Free appcloud?

    • Legit the only thing stopping me from buying right now, apparently it's possible to remove it using ADB (without root) but it will probably need to be done with every single software update. Can just give to a family member or something then lol

  • -4

    No Esim :(

    • +7

      A36 has eSIM

      • +8

There is no slot for it though…

        • +2

download the app to create a slot.

          • +2

@No ONE: Next you are going to tell me to download the app for more ram! /s

            • +3

@TerryJustTerry: No. You just go to settings to increase ram from storage. 😝

  • -3

    Ram?

    • Title says 6gb

    • +2

      Try reading the title first

      • +4

        Ahh shiet my bad

  • -7

id still go the A56 over this

    • +11

I can't seem to find that for $274 (+ $30 plan), please share the link?

        • +10

          because that's a meaningless statement

It's like someone saying they would pick the A76 over the A56, or the A36 over the A16. like no shit? all you did is go one tier up on the same lineup, obviously it's going to have better specs

          • -3

@Nillionaire: It wasnt even because of that.

I was looking for a new mid range phone for my mum. The a36 and a56 are the 2 cheapest samsungs that offer Esim. Imo the a56 is the better buy if its on sale vs the a36 for MY needs.

Since OP made a point of Esim.

    • +2

Id still go the iPhone 17 pro max over this

      • +3

Id wait 5 years for the iphone 22 pro max air actually.

    • A56 $699
      A36 $274 reduced from $550

      Bro do you even ozbargain??

  • so actually cost is $274+$30(plan fee)=$304
You can cancel the plan immidiately after receiving the phone

    • +1

Does it work with the prepaid route?

      • You mean the Amaysim Prepaid discounted $12-$15/50gb-60gb-80gb / 28 day exp prepaid offers currently ?

        • +1

hey would you know if I ordered one of these plans, would I have to wait for the SIM to be delivered and activated before I can put an order in for this phone?

I tried calling amaysim but the operator couldn't understand me and hung up.

          • +1

@BigMac2000: Pretty sure you need to order phone And chosen/applicable plan together in One order to get this deal. That would mean you get both delivered together (unless you already have an active Amaysim plan/number).

          • @BigMac2000: Must have been your heavy accent 😂

    • +4

For new customers only. No plan needed for existing customers = $274

    • Got one on the last deal, bought the $30 SIM and threw it away. No plan needed.

      • +1

If it supports e-sim would it be possible to use both that plan and your existing one at the same time? Or just burn through the data on the amaysim and then swap over? I don't know how e-sim works.

        • Yes, can do that if hardware is capable. Sounds like they currently have adequate data in

their current regular plan already I'd say.

  • It says on their website as unlocked

    • It is unlocked.

  • Support 2 Sim cards with expandable storage card?

    • Physical sim + eSim. Though doesn't have expandable storage, feels like we are traveling 10 years back in time with only 128GB storage.

      • dude most iPhone come w 128g base tho lmao

      • +2

No expandable storage with only 106gb available storage (according to Samsung) is the biggest risk to buying this phone and making it last.

  • I think my wife would like to up grade to this 1

  • +5

I actually have one of these as a work phone. Surprised how adequate it is, and still think it’s hilarious that this charges faster than my Z Fold7 😂

    • Does it have a USB C type charging port ?

      • +1

        Yes

        • +1

          Thanks ):

        • Does this phone come with the 45W fast charger or do you need to buy it separately?

          • +1

@chrisie: No charger. Modern phones only have a cable in the box

            • @shxhshzhz: Thanks again ):

            • +1

              @shxhshzhz: Except Motorola

              • @utsc: What's In The Box

                Motorola moto G56 (Dual Sim, 256GB/8GB, 6.7'')
                Cable
                Protective Cover
                Quick Start Guide

            • @shxhshzhz: Some even not cable despite description.

      • +1

every modern phone has a usb c port now

  • +1

Pretty good phone.Just really hate how Samsung spams you with constant updates on it's bloatware apps.

    • +1

      Any way to block it?

  • Waiting for a deal On Moto Edge 50 Neo…

  • Not eligible for Samsung Trade in, needed a new phn but was holding up for the S26 Ultra

  • Anyone know how well this runs moonlight/artemis or even light emulation?

  • If I bought a $2 amaysim SIM card and then bought this phone, no need to spend the extra $30 on the plan?

    • +2

you need to have a min $30 plan.

      • Someone mentioned no plan needed for existing customers.
How do I make myself a customer for less than $30 lol

    • You cannot use a $2 sim from woolies to transfer to these only special promo plans eg 80gb for $15 first month. WIth this phone if you purchase it with a plan attached it does offer the $80 plan but you must pay the $40 with it. Has anyone done the reverse? ordered the promo 80gb or applicable plans at $15 etc, and then ordered this phone at the special price? unsure if they are two promos not compatible with each other?

      • +1

I can confirm that today I purchased the 80GB Amaysim starter pack normally $40 but on special this week at woolies for $15. Have transferred my mobile number (took 10mins) to Amaysim, and have ordered the Samsung for the $274 price. Win win! After one month, will transfer to one pass mobile via finder if that deal is still avail for 12 months for $149.

  • +2

Can you price match at Officeworks?

    • +1

      No!!!!

    • +2

I rang them. They refuse to price match any mobile phone with a telco provider as it is tied to a plan or membership. They will only price match with another store that’s not a telco.

  • +3

This was my work phone that company provided, it’s super laggy even with minimum apps installed

  • Which one is better value by price and specs

A36 or Google pixel 7 pro?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/926612

    • +3

I usually prefer the old gen flagship phone than the current low-mid tier phone, so P7P. A thing to consider is whether you like Samsung or Google OS more and software supports as well. Google has a 5 year update support for P7P, so it ends in late 2027. A36 just released this year with 6 years support but pretty sure you won't keep this 300 bucks phone that long.

      • I agree with most of your opinions, exept that at the regular $500+- price of this phone (mid range price,

as can get great value for money around $200 already when on sale), I would expect to get a decent

user experience for at least 2-3 years. Any less would be dissapointing to say the least for my usage.

        • +1

Well we don't buy it at 500 bucks on this deal, and surely I'm not saying 2-3 years of usage or less, so I don't see the difference between your opinion and mine.
Tbh, "decent" is relative between people. I know plenty can't stand with old Pixel OS and as a person only use Samsung S/Note/Fold series, I find the A series especially low tier one pretty meh. But maybe that's just me lol.

          • @Masticccc: Sure, I agree with all that also. I should have stated for non power user like me mostly,

I just have a high volume of mobile phone usage as I travel a lot using a few for

consumtion, as well as use a phone with hotspot for my primary internet data ( as well

as a Starlink if really far away lol). Using a Pixel, a Moto and an now getting a little old

Samsung A32 (still as new but battery bit small and low, but still decent Amoled screen

although bit small, 6gb ram, and stuck (was promised A14, but think not happening).

So you see my use case, looking at replacing the Sammy.

        • exept that at the regular $500+- price of this phone (mid range price, as can get great value for money around $200 already when on sale)

Curious…pls list brand & model that demonstrated the above, thanks

          • +1

@ab c: I was referring to lower end and priced phones that work for many people, especially as a second or back up device. Models such as this Samsung A36, Moto 54/56/84/85, Pixel 7, or second hand mid range or even flagships. Not everyone needs latest flagship phones.

    • Not sure about specs but if its close this phone is nearly $200 cheaper (quick mafs)

  • +2

    We are getting lower model
    8GB/256 in other countries

  • +2

To buy or to wait until black friday sales….

  • Any feedback on this phone's camera quality? Thinking of getting this or Redmi 15 5G

    • +3

I have the A35, the camera is wayyy better than my old G54, especially in low light conditions. Samsung are known for having above average cameras anyway.

      • +1

I spotted Motorola G56 256gb 5g only $300. I think Motorola better deal than this Samsung phone. Only downside is I worrying G56 camera is not as good as A35. But G56 does come with dual sims with expandable memory which is huge plus for me.

        • +2

A relative has a G75 which is meant to have better specs but I find the camera quality to be really poor. If you don't mind that, Motorola's are excellent value.

          • +1

@Kelpei: Ya just not sure how bad is the G56 camera 😂

            • @aiyoyo: Care to share who sells the Moto G56 for $300 ?

Still happy with my G84 but no more O.S. updates from here on into the future

(recently got the Android 15 update and hopefully getting some more security updates).

              • +1

                @ozhunter68: https://www.google.com/search?q=moto+g56+5g+256gb&sa=X&sca_e…

Harvey norman, The good guys, Big W, Amazon…many

                • @aiyoyo: Cheers. Tempting to use up my 7% cashback Amazon gift vouchers haha

                • @aiyoyo: There is No mention of storage capacity on the Amazon listing. Is it 128gb or 256gb hmmmm ?

                  • +1

@ozhunter68: Australia only has 256 GB. Do you also think g56 a better value over A36? very hard decision for me lol

                    • +1

@aiyoyo: Cheers. I think for me the Moto could be slightly better having some features I like having such as more ram and double storage, MIL-STD protection, 2 X Sim slots + SD memory And headphone jack. No AMOLED screen, slower charging and less support.

                      • @ozhunter68: G56 has half the battery life (1000 V 2000 cycles) if that matters

                        • +1

@Igaf: How did you find out? But both phones come with 24 24-month warranty, so we should not worry at least for 2 years lol

                          • +1

@aiyoyo: Compared the specs on gsmarena. Those cycle numbers SHOULD be absolute minimum but it always depends on usage, environmental conditions (esp heat), charge rates (slower better), whether you run battery flat regularly etc.

Just read about Samsung's Israeli data harvester/intruder appcloud mentioned by Lingnoi at top. Good reason to give this phone a miss IF it comes pre-installed.

Anyone with the A36 who can confirm the phone comes with appcloud installed and/or whether Samsung sneaks it in during system updates?

                        • @Igaf: According to people on Reddit it's the other way round possibly ?

Degradation: Some users on platforms like Reddit have noted that Motorola phones' batteries seem to degrade more slowly than Samsung phones' batteries.
