TCL 98" C7K Mini LED TV + TCL Q65H Soundbar + $700 Visa Gift Card - $4395.20 +Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys

800

The Good Guys (JB Hifi?) is having a sale where you buy a TV and a soundbar from the same brand and get 20% off. Plus a Visa gc depends on the TV model.

https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/bonus-digital-visa-gift-card-…

So below is possible combination for TCL 98" C7K (I believe it would be the all time low for this tv)
Soundbar is out of stock 98C7K + S643W: $4151.20 - $700 Visa gc = $3451.20 total cost
* 98C7K + Q65H: $4395.20 - $700 Visa gc = $3695.20

You can then resell the soundbar to save more if needed.

  • This deal is too good. $700 also applies for the 85” C8K comes down to $2,791.20 with S643W. Less the GC $2091.20 ATL!!!!

    • Link? I can't see the $700 offer on the 85"

  • +4

IMO the 98" C8K is the real deal here. With the TCL soundbar it gets 20% off the 6995 price (plus 500 soundbar) to bring it down to $5995 which is near the ATL (plus you get a soundbar and giftcard. With the $1200 visa giftcard with this which makes it effectively $4795 for a better TV

    • Agree, if you want the best and don't mind the thousand dollar difference, roughly 25% more compare to C7K.

      • Yeah I personally think its worth it. I have the 98" C8K and it is a beast.

    • As long as you’re not getting it for watching sport on.

      • +1

        What’s the issue with sports?

      • +2

Haven't had any issues with motion and watching sports.

  • Can you use gift card to pay?

    • -4

I doubt it. Classic OZB maths using a gift card you don't have to claim a discount.
This site is just impulse buyers paradise where everyone justifies big purchases and disguises it as saving money.

      • +1

Cataclysm asked a simple question, not your thoughts on OzB buyers in general.

    • If you're referring to using the GC you get from this deal then no. You won't receive the GC from the purchase for several days from when you lodge your claim for it

"7. Valid Claims will receive the Bonus for which they have qualified by email no later than 7 business days upon successful redemption."

If you're referring to GC's you already have then I can't see anything that indicates you can't.

      • Mine was pretty much instant. Was able to redeem/get the voucher ~5 minutes after ordering.

    • +1

No, the gift card is given to you after you place the order via redemption. So you can use it for something else..

    • It's a Visa GC, so you can use it anywhere later, unless you're planning not spending anymore for the rest of your life :)

How much juice does a 98 mini LED draw?

It would be multiples of a small Aircon I recon! (Our AC uses 600w).

    • +2

Love how this gets downvoted here sigh. Why? He's asking a very valid question. Not everyone that saves for a big TV is Scrooge McDuck rich.

RTings gives the power draw of the TCL QM7K, and I'm not sure if it's the same TV.
      https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/qm7k

      Power Consumption115 W
      Power Consumption (Max)218 W

      • Wow, my 2016 78" Samsung KU7500 consistently uses 270w. Energy efficiency has certainly come a long way over the last decade.

        • Not really.

Again, the user above is referencing the 65", not the 98 (funny that TVs aren't metric).

It depends on brightness of the room it is working against.

Our 2016 Sony 55 plods along at 60w at night.

I bet if you go in and turn down your backlight, and then turn thr brightness up (weird as that sounds), you will get that down 30% or so.

          • @tunzafun001: Oh damn, thought that 218 W max was for the 98" as OP asked about the 98" power consumption! I've never understood why we went back to inches for flat screens, was centimetres for CRT TV's but inches for CRT computer monitors. Now inches for both?

Anywhose, running the 78" off a 1.5kWh power bank charging off the solar during the day so power consumption isn't a huge deal. I think cutting the backlight brightness would make it too dim for daytime viewing, which accounts for the majority of viewing. It isn't modern enough to auto adjust brightness.

      • Cheers. The review says its the 65. But the numbers read like the 55. But let's go with 115w - 218w is the 65"

        The 98 is approx 2.5 x the area of a 65.

        So approx 280w - 500w for the 98?

Real world from owners suggest daytime TV sits just below the max rating.

So work off 500w…which if true is awesome…but I'm suspect on that, as the 75 C6K sits around this mark (and has significantly less leds)..

Second 'But'"….500w is basically the power draw of a 55 plasma… and everyone had a meltdown about 500w back when electricity was cheap as chips.

        • I'm not in the market at the moment and I don't know if power scales with area like that, though it's a reasonable first approximation I guess. Some of the power would be used by other components that might not scale by size. Would be great if they'd publish the specs of the transformer as an upper bound at least..

          • @syousef: TCL reference the average as 880kwh per year….but it's the same for all sizes!

Thats normally based on 10hrs a day, which works out to around 200ish watts. I recon the 98 would be roughly double that. Would need to look at the sticker in store.

It's rated 6 star efficient. There are 8 star TVs. So it has to be around the 500 ish old plasma numbers. Which is very good for a 98…but still a heap of power.

Crazy in current energy price/ global warming carbon reduction era… Energy use doesn't get a look in!!

Our current TV uses 46watts. So would be roughly a 10x increase for us.

    • Depends on your brightness setting. I have the last gen 85" which becomes a radiator at 100% brightness.

      • Absolutely… hence my expectations of 500w - 900w with dolby vision content.

I dont believe the TCL documentation of 800kwh for the big screen over a year @ 10hrs a day.

I guess it does give you the opportunity to return it for a full refund at a point in the future if it is misleading.

Great Deal, I doubt you will see better than this, I got my 75" C855 last year in october for about $1800 and from memory all those who waited for black friday were worse off.

Looks like this runs for a week with both deals going, lets hope for an upsized cashback.(although usually capped at $150 so probably wont change much)

Cheapest Soundbar for me is $499
TCL 85" C8K Premium QD Mini LED + Q65H TCL 5.1 Ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar
    $3,094.20 (Including Delivery)
    -$121 4% Topcashback
    -$700 Gift Card

    $2,273.20 which is amazing.

Anyone have any experience with the sound bars? Worth upgrading to the $600 or $800 version?

  • Thanks OP. My watch has ended, that's too good a deal for the 85''. Even with the more expensive sound bar, I am happy to resell it.

  • Hi any one got a wall mount recommend for 98inch?

  • 85 inch offers are even better than China local price, totally not expected😂
    😭

  • Got the the next model up last year for around this price.

  • Guys just call some stores and you'll be able to get the same deal if they have the cheaper soundbar available.

    • but then you can't get cash back

      • Correct but the price difference between the cheaper and $499 soundbar is $300+, justifies but having the cashback

  • The rep in store told me the $700 gift card will be rejected when they see that the TV has been discounted by 20%. "Not in conjunction with any other offers".

    • +1

Are you sure? I don’t see that in the T&C page.

Has anyone else failed to claim the gift card so far?

      • It shows "Not in conjunction with any other offers" on item web page,

otherwise $2000 offer is just tooooo damn good for 85c8k😂

        • +1

Just confirmed on live chat that both offers can be used in conjunction… Rep was clearly clueless. https://imgur.com/a/GAiDZrK

          • @1d0ntkn0w: I was told this instore by the dude too that you can get the $700 gift card

  • How long does it take to get the GC?

  • No reviews on Rtings

      C8K is the QM8K
      C7K is the QM7K

      • Thnaks mate

  • I went on good guys online chat and they did the 98” C8K for $5200 delivered without any issues. After the $1200 card arrives(which I I’ve redeemed), works out to $4000 for the 98” C8K. I already have a sound system so no interest in the soundbar

    • How did you get it for $5200 delivered? Lowest price I could find online was $5820 - would you be willing to post a copy of the receipt so I can ask for the same deal :) I also have a soundbar and no interest in the 20% bundle deal.

      • +1 if you could share the receipt here or via PM that would be very appreciated

      • +2

I legitimately said on the online chat “Hi, I read of someone getting the TCL 98” C8K for $5200 delivered. Could you please do that price for me?”

They say sure. Here’s a link. You have to pay in full while this chat is still running.

Happy to provide a receipt if you have any trouble but honestly go for $5100 as I’m not even sure $5200 is the lowest. I just guessed a price and it was zero trouble. No haggle at all

        • Yes please - share receipt as a backup. I guess it depends on who you get on the chat. I tried to get a better deal and they would only match another competitors offer.

        • Can i get receipt pls

        • Please share the receipt if you don’t mind, I had no luck getting near $5200 on the chat. Thanks

        • +1

Thank you @Honest Complaint . I was initially quoted around $5890, but after sharing your receipt, they matched the price at $5200.

        • Got in JB store today and salesperson said the best deal would be 5300 for the 98" C8k delivered the next day. BUT, he could also get the LG G5 83" down to 6000. Decisions decisions … not quite sure now… bigger size over best quality on the market?!

          • @Roscogoodboy: Would you be able to claim the $1200 Visa GC though?

          • +1

@Roscogoodboy: I was facing a similar conundrum; I ended up basing it on viewing distance. Both have excellent picture quality (though obviously the G5 is better) but because I sit quite far from the screen and the TV sits on quite a large wall I decided the extra inches were worth it (that's what she said). If you can sit close enough to the 83" that its pretty optimal viewing distance wise it might be worth it for that, unless you think the extra size will improve your immersion.

As an aside - I didn't get the $5200 deal but did get something I was happy with without the soundbar.

            • @WalletDamage: See the issue I have is I'm moving interstate for work around December and have no idea on the actual size of the living room! I'll see what he can do about the C5 83 as well as the G5 might be pushing my budget. Are you happy with your 98 C8K? Is it far from OLED quality or barely noticeable and worth the size upgrade?
And what else did you get if you dont mind me asking?

          • @Roscogoodboy: What jb store is it? I may try my luck in store.

            • @BlackCaviar2016: Does JB also have the $1200 VISA card offer?

            • @BlackCaviar2016: That was in JB Munno Para in SA. I asked for Canberra stock to get it delivered there in ACT but got told they had no 98" in stock and had no sign of when to get in next. Wife also complained it was "too big" (that's what she said) so end up going for 85" for half the price - so 2627 for 85" instead 5300 for 98".

    • Did you encounter any issues claiming the $1200? I’ve put my phone number & order number & it doesn’t work. Am I missing something?

      • +1

They said it can take a few hours to get through their system to where you can claim it. Might be that?

      • Did you get the Order Confirmation? I got the Purchase Docket then I paid, but I have not got the Order/receipt yet. I think it can only be claimed after that.

        • I used the link they sent me via SMS to pay. Open that again and it has the order number. That’s what I used. Did you get one for $5200 @BlackCaviar2016?

          • @Honest Complaint: The link is still a payment page. The sales girl has already confirmed payment received through my email enquiry. It was late almost 6pm, maybe tomorrow she will proceed with the order since this is a manual order.

          • @Honest Complaint: done, have not received the order invoice yet, but luckily I did take a screenshot of the payment confirm page which has 2 different order numbers in it. I was able to use one of them (the one on top) to claim the Visa gc. And yes, it was $5200.

      • I got lucky on the fourth attempt just before the closing time of the live chat. The order numbers on the Docket invoice don’t work. You can log in to your Good Guys account, and under ‘My Orders’ you’ll find an order number. I used that and was able to claim the gift card.

  • pulled the trigger just now.
have been wanting to replace my 7 year old 75'' Samsung for some time now.

    • which one did you go for? price matched as well?

      • no i got exactly what you put in your main post. 98'' c7k with soundbar. was tossing between c7k and c8k but I reckon i can't justify the 1k price difference with my eyes. 😄

        • C7K still really good though. I went to the store and compare them side by side, playing the same demo video. However, I'd go with C8K if it's only 300$ extra, (i.e. $4000), a few lucky people got it with that price.

edit: $300 extra but without the soundbar

          • @BlackCaviar2016: yes. I saw people got that price and others got denied. didn't want to go through that trouble. the main difference is the brightness am I correct? any other real life differences?

            • @firedolphin: from Google AI: :) "The TCL 98C8K has significantly more dimming zones, with up to 3,840, compared to the 98C7K's 2,048 dimming zones. This higher number of zones in the C8K allows for more precise control of the backlight, resulting in better contrast, deeper blacks, and a reduction in the "halo effect" for a superior overall picture quality"

            • @firedolphin: I got lucky the 3rd time! Ordered the C8K for $5200.

  • Got the 98C7K for $4,000 delivered (without the soundbar) in-store. Paid with 3% off gift cards (unfortunately, missed out on the 8% off gift card deal this morning) plus $700 Visa gift card. So final total: $4,000 × 0.97 – $700 = $3,180.
I reckon the price may keep dropping over the next few months.
