A 3070 is 25-35% cheaper
Where are you still able to buy 3070s new (at that price)? Cheapest on staticeice is $749 for a Ti (no non-Ti listed on page 1), and PCPP's best price is $1,260. Even the OzBargain posts for a 3070 don't show "25-35%" cheaper?
If we're talking used then it's not really a fair comparison.

The 9060XT 16gb is on par with the 5060Ti 16Gb, lots of reviews on YT that will give you a better idea of the performance in games. I wouldn't compare this with an 8gb gpu.

on the AMD side, it's only about 25% faster than the 5700 XT which was about this price (a smidge cheaper during deals) than this from 6 years ago.

Have a look at the YT "9060 xt vs 3070" videos. At 1440p it's more like 15% +- 5% for non-RT games, which is most of them.
Like you I hesitated upgrading from my 3070, but finally snapped and got a Sapphire Pure 9060 xt a couple of weeks ago.
Zero regrets being daring switching from nvidia to AMD - it's been great so far.
Could have gone a tier higher, but with the money saved on the GPU and PSU upgrade I bought the Alienware OLED gaming monitor posted here.
Together the 9060 and the oled are a fantastic upgrade.
These mid range cards are always priced so awkward because they're also selling the 8GB version for $150 less and the GPU is borderline fast enough to need more than 8GB in some games.
The extra cost also means that the 5070 for $780 is almost similar fps/$ as this gpu. 33% faster for 42% more money.
5060ti 16gb is more expensive compared to 5070, 8gb version is only slightly cheaper. 60 class gpus are currently a joke for value.
Would this be a reasonable upgrade over the RX 5600 XT 6GB? Looking to play some games (e.g. RDR2, Hogwarts Legacy) at 1440p 100Hz.

Thank you. Yeah, I just wish people would get rid of CPU limits when benchmarking GPUs, otherwise hard to gauge true performance bumps.
Yes definitely a big jump from that card.
Would this be fine with a 5900x. Would probably just be for 1080p gaming on a tv..maybe some 4k.
