So I don't get why they have v15 and gen5detect. Shouldn't there be only one "best" model being produced?

Then they go and make the v16 instead of gen5detect v2…

Gives salesmen a job to explain things to clueless people

The Submarine Wet Roller Head is more of a gimmick in my opinion. You need a whole Wet and Dry vac to do this job properly, not just a head.
The Fluffy head with laser is much more useful. And the V15 should be best used for dry vaccuming only.

We have the one directly from Dyson that has the fluffy optic head. We use the fluffy optic head most, but the submarine head was used once it twice. It isn't efficient or particularly effective, and a steam mob does a better job.

Seeing how the submarine is for tiled floor, selling this set without the fluffy optic is just silly, because that's what you want for dry vacuuming.

  • What would you pick?
    V15 absolute $779
    gen5detect absolute refurb $749

Wouldn't touch a refurb. Pretty sure the gen5detect (absolute, not complete) can be had new at that price when on sale.

Got a gen5detect complete bundled with their mop recently for $940, sold the mop for $400. Going to sell the dok too as we prefer the wall mount. That's how you do it (I hate paying more than $600 for a vacuum.. that's what I paid for a V8 then v10 but wow, I waited ages for this to happen with a current model whilst my v10 was half broken)

      • Thanks for your comment. I’ve repaired my V10 a few times and it’s still going but thought I’d upgrade now. I’m going with the V15 for better repairability longer term and not going to touch refurbs.

      New - 2 year warranty
      Refurb - 1 year warranty

    • Dunno why you want to pay so much for a product thats cleaned someone else's dirt.

  • Interested in some first hand comments on the wet roller performance. Most of our house has hardwood floors. Can be annoying to vacuum first with our V11 and then run our mop afterwards with a Bissel Spinwave. Would anyone recommend the Submarine as a good combo option for vacuuming and mopping hardwood flooring? I heard some bad things about its performance with pet hair, we have long hair cats and I heard some things about the wet roller clogging easily with pet hair.
