Same price at big w, it would be cheaper if you have discounted gift card.

I think 8L is the way to go - my 5.7 is a little too narrow for some of the bigger cuts of meat I want to braise/stew, and it feels like the 5.7 doesn't create quite enough soup (because you can't fill it to the top remember!)

Seems like an OK price compared to everything else right now.

  • I have the 8L and after having an older 5.7L MasterPro version, the 8L is definitely the way to go. It’s not much bigger all round than the 5.7 and allows you the option to go for bigger cuts of meat and chicken and get meal preps done easier and quicker. Haven’t once wished that I went smaller.

I have Sons. At this point id take a 12L 😆

    • Do you need to wash it in the shower? I imagine it's quite tall as well?

      • I too am interested how the fu#$ you wash these things. I've seen the lids and they got gaps everywhere. It's not like a saucepan lid where it's all nice and sealed…

        • +1

The lid doesn't really get dirty, just gets "sweaty" really.

      • The cooking pot comes out of the unit to wash it separately. It's just an 8L pot, it's easy to clean. Like the other user said, the lid mostly get sweaty.

    Didn’t they go bankrupt

  • I've been stunningly happy with my 11 in 1 which I have in the 5.7. Totally recommend one of these if you're on the fence and you can see the utility of the 8L.

    • +1

I think the 5.7L is a nice size. Some of these pots… People must have big kitchens and big houses and big fu#$ing sinks - or troughs

    • Whar feature does yours have that this doesnt have?

      • 11 in 1 has the air fryer lid, which is actually why I bought it. It's not as effective as a bespoke air fryer but it saves on having two appliances.

Worth keeping your eye on Amazon atm - Example, currently $209 for the Duo Plus 8L (diff model than above, just an example)

    Duo Plus $199 @ InstaPot - https://www.instantpot.com.au/products/instant-pot-8l-duo-pl…

I bought it from Amazon last week for $175.00

And theres the chance to win one from Instapot - https://win.instantpot.com.au/0925/3449 - (EDIT <— This is my referrer code, for full disclosure !)

  • Does this model allow the lid to be placed on the handle when not in use? Doesn't look like it

    • +1

If you mean something like this, then yes.

    • +1

Yes there are two slots to hold the lid

      • I find it doesn’t sit securely though but good enough for when you’re needing the lid to rest somewhere for a few minutes without dripping water all over the kitchen.

    • Great thank you

  • I have the 8 litre and it is great, we use it every day. The stainless steel pot inside means you can easily sauté on your stovetop before putting it into the instant pot compartment for slow / pressure cooking.

Also note that pressure cooking there is a maximum line that is less than the 8 litres (I think it maxes at around 6 litres). So if you’re looking to using this as a pressure cooker often, the 5.7 litre option would have an even further reduced capacity.

    • I've been using the IP's saute setting.

  • Any deals on the Air fryer combo?

    • +1

Air fryer combo is not great. Mediocre performance and you have an extra bulky air fryer lid to store. Also very limited surface area to spread things out, which is absolutely necessary to crisp things.

Get a dedicated air fryer or just use the oven on fan forced.

    • +1

Happy with the Ninja 11 in one. The air fryer works great. I also like that it’s ceramic not Teflon

  • I got an instant pot duo 5.7L for around half the price on Amazon a year ago.

I can get away with the size although 8L would be less hassle.

From memory, for pressure-cooking, these are not as good as plain pressure cookers such as these. Iirc it was because induction cooking is a lot more efficient, and the lack of plastic and nonstick is always a plus. Has anything changed?

    • If you just want something simple and are happy to play around with time/temp then an old school pressure cooker is fine. We use our instant pot a lot and it just feels a lot less sketchy than one of those stovetop ones.

    • +1

This one is not non-stick - it has a stainless steel inner pot, and a stainless steel lid.

Stove top pressure cookers generally go up to a higher pressure - 15psi - and therefore cook faster.

Stove top pressure cookers work the same way as electric pressure cookers, that is, heating element on the bottom, enclosed chamber to build pressure, gasket to let extra pressure out.

This instant pot pro hits around 11.6 psi maximum.

It's a great product, if you want to use a no-fuss, no plastic in contact with food pressure cooker.

  • does this have slow release to prevent splatter?

    • Yes, it has a diffuser!

      • having a diffuser is different to a "slow release" function where it releases the pressure over time.

        • It doesn't splatter, and the steam isn't aggressive compared to other instant pots - it's very gentle.

Not sure that I have seen a 'slow' release on a pressure cooker?

If you want to speed up a natural release, there is a spot on the lid that you can add an ice pack (one that Instant will sell you, if you want a solution like that… Otherwise you can put an iced tea towel on it)

  • how to sign-up for the discount ? thank

    • I'm in the same boat. Clicked on 'Get 10% off' banner, took me to enter a draw, signed up but no discount has come through.

    • Was a bit glitchy but eventually worked for me.

I used a different browser (brave) and tapped the 10% a couple of times and then at the bottom of the page it had ‘Get the Scoop’ sign up part.

      Hopefully that helps.

  • i've got an older model and it's been great - but looking at this one, now with sous vide function and a pot that's usable on a stove as big upgrades in my mind

    • The sous vide function isn't great though it's usable in a pinch - there's no water circulation, so the heat stratifies, and it isn't extremely accurate - but having a pot that doesn't spin, has a flat bottom AND can be used on a stove is actually extremely excellent!

  • Wait for Black Friday or is this best it’s gonna get
