got my $500 voucher from these guys couple months ago!

    • +2

Yeah same. I was impressed they came through with the goods.

Combined with the free 12 weeks on top, was definately worth switching.

      • +1

Yep, I got the same. Stacked with 12 weeks free offer, was an awesome deal.

        • +1

how long did it take to get the gift card after signing up?

  • +1

well i got the free 8 weeks, you need to be signed for the full 12 months to get the other 4 weeks

  • +3

Tried several times, along with different browser, and with VPN off, but keeps on getting the error:

"It looks like your request has timed out. Please try again. If issue persists please contact us."

wonder if anyone is having the same problem and how to solve it.

    • Yes, same:

It looks like your request has timed out. Please try again. If issue persists please contact us.

  • Tried on mobile and computer after filling all sections and payment details.

"It looks like your request has timed out. Please try again. If issue persists please contact us."

  • Sites cooked. Getting same error as everyone.

    Did 5 times. Rip

    • I got the same error. I thought I wasn't going to get it to work, so I went and got the 6 weeks free + Everyday Rewards points deal with Bupa

I just realised I got a "You’re so close to scoring $500!" email from Finder. Maybe you can complete the process using that?

      • We apologise for the inconvenience *****". We have been working with HBF to fix issue and it looks like it has not been resolved yet. I will escalate this with our team.

  • can i get the 12 weeks free as well? on bf website it gives 12 weeks free plus $200 gift card. it is not worth to use finder to get $300 more gift card but not 12 weeks free

    • +1

12 weeks applied over 26 months

      it's 4 weeks after a month tho

      • So pay 4 weeks, get 4 weeks free.

How long for the $500 finder bux? Looks like 30th March!

So pay for 5 months, get 4 weeks free and $500 giftcard (I couldn't use prior finder giftcards for council rates or water bills).

What if 97 people have already signed up for this offer?

I have never had a health insurance in the past and have been relying on my medicare.

I don't understand how having insurance is better than medicare.

But I am open to getting one to use this offer.

    • +6

i just have it to avoid the medicare levy surcharge

      • I'm new to this buy why would you do this to avoid the levy surchage?

I thought it would still be cheaper to pay it compared to getting private health insurance

        • +2

do the maths rather than base it on vibes, for me the insurance is cheaper.

    • +1

If you're in good health, or young, or a low income earner, you probably don't need health insurance - neither hospital nor extras (ancillary).

It's probably a good idea to get "emergency ambulance" cover though. This varies from state to state and is less than $50/yr. Ambulances often cost about $1000. You never know when you'll have an accident and need an ambulance. You don't want to be stressing about $ in an emergency. (The hospital stay will be virtually free, but not the ambulance to it.)

  • +5

the deal started 2 weeks ago , chances you'll be one o the first 97?

  • Same question with the others, how will we know if we are still qualified for the first 97 customers? Just hoping it's a "still posted because it's still available" type of thing

    • +5

The offer is only available to the first 97 customers who sign up to an eligible HBF policy through the Finder Comparison Service in the same session. The offer will remain available on Finder until this limit is reached, at which point it will be removed.

      • Offer still on website, does this suggest 97 customers has not been reached yet? Any way we can be sure that we will get the offer.

  • HBF is almost $40 more expensive than Medibank for the same cover.

  • So $500 via finder + (12 weeks free + $200 (family)) via hbf?

    • Didn’t think the $200 can be stacked.

  • Request times out at the end now. Not sure if finished.

  • +1

Timed out for me, looked like a great deal

    • +1

It's an awful deal if you are a churner.

4 weeks free and maybe $500 after 5 months.

Had to challenge Finder for the last one.

  • +1

Timed out too but was able to click the link that said “click here if not redirected” and continue with the sign up.

  • So we sign up via the HBF website but finder tracks it? Is that right?

    • +1

      Yes that’s right
You have to organise a quote through Finder first and then click the link to take you through to HBF website to purchase the insurance, all in the same session

  • +1

Fulfillment check on 30 March 2026. So we will need to stay for 5 months?

    • Correct, it’ll end up being 4-5 months depending on when you sign up

      • If offer is still on until 30th November then you’ll only need to pay for 3 months.

        • Don't think your math's works. pay for Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar. Need to be paid up on 26/3.

    • This "minor" point would be a worthy addition to the title me thinks.

  • +2

If I sign up (say today) and set start date as 30 Nov, and the limit is reached before 30 Nov, will I still be eligible for $500? My free weeks with nib is not over yet…

    • same concern

  • I keep getting

It looks like your request has timed out. Please try again. If issue persists please contact us.

One time it almost went through after pressing "purchase cover" but it didn't complete.
    Tried different browser, same thing.

    • Same error, at the very end after adding payment info etc…

  • It looks like your request has timed out. Please try again. If issue persists please contact us.

    I assume it's over then

  • So the party is over?

  • Does it needs to be extras included?

    • As per the deal title it needs to be combined hospital & extras cover.

      • ok got it. thanks

      • @rvsure am I still eligible if I was with see-u by HBF health insurance till 30th June. Thank you

        • +1

As I mentioned in the earlier post, my word means nothing as I am not the official HBF rep. I would suggest to talk to customer support or live chat or phone. But my understanding is you are eligible as both are different brands owned by HBF and don't share the data.

          • @rvsure: Thx that helps…need to contact finder customer support you mean ?

            • +1

@dealt: I would say HBF customer support.

  • Has anyone been able to successfully claim this offer? Those of you getting the timeouts on purchase cover click, are you using bank account or credit cards for payment? Also, did you select a future start date for the policy or just the default? Trying to understand if this is a widespread issue or just for some users.

    • +2

CC, future start date, not successful
bank account, future start date, not successful
CC, immediate start date (default with default payment date), not successful due to "Please select a valid payment date"
bank account, immediate start date (default with default payment date), not successful due to "Please select a valid payment date"

For both immediate start date - I tried to select a different payment date, but all dates are greyed out for me.

    • I was able to sign up on Saturday without any issues so might just be some temporary technical problem with HBF.

Note you must use direct debit to be eligible as per t&cs

      • +1

Note you must use direct debit to be eligible as per t&cs

        HBF:

Which direct debit payment method would you like to use ?
        Bank Account Credit card

I choose "direct debit" - "credit card" .. would like to see how they argue that credit card is not considered direct debit if it's one of the 2 "direct debit" options presented by them.

      • Did you get email confirmation?

        • Yes I did, welcome email received with the policy and was able to set up login and account

  • I had no issues with it 'timing out' this morning, not sure why so many have 🤔

    • I did it again now, and now it's working (didn't change anything though).
Edit: to clarify, it went through, but I did not get a confirmation email from HBF.
Signed my partner up, and did get a confirmation email for that …

      • Keep getting the error. Are you starting it on a future date and with direct debit?

        • Yep I did

  • can't sign up on pc nor phone. Just wouldn't advance past the last payment stage at all.

  • Putting aside the issues with the website, has anyone who did this promotion in the past combined it with another offer? It seems like the 12 week free coverage thing would not stack with the $500 card, but it's slightly ambiguous..

    • See above response to the first comment
It should stack so long as the offer is displayed on the Finder quote, which it does

  • I had held a see u by HBF earlier in this year, will I be eligible this? Ta

  • HBF's website no longer gives the timeout error, but on the last stage to process payment the button just doesn't do anything

    • I’m still getting the time out error

    • I had to do it again and make sure things were typed manually for it to work

    • Any suggestions from anyone who has got this to work? Have tried multiple devices with different browsers and get same timed out message….

      • Can I DM you to quickly discuss this?

        • Yeah sure!

  • eligible customers who switch their health insurance

Is that mean if I do not have any other insurance and I am the customer with first private insurance so still will I get the $500 gift card?

    • Yes

  • Can we buy seperate private insurance cover even if we are a couple?

    • +1

      Yes

  • +1

    Getting this error on console:

Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://prod.web-x.prod.aws.hbf.com.au/v1/api/quotes/purchase' from origin 'https://www.hbf.com.au' has been blocked by CORS policy: The 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header contains multiple values 'https://www.hbf.com.au,https://www-hbf-com-au.translate.goog', but only one is allowed.

  • Has the timed-out error been resolved?

    • still no luck

      • Yeah same have tried a few times today

  • Tried dozen times, with different methods. All failed at the last step ( purchase cover) with the timed out issue

  • Still not working for me

    • If you have been attempting using Chrome, try edge

      • has this actually worked for you ?

        • +1

Yes i was able to signup yesterday without an issue. Though the landing page in HBF from finder was selecting the wrong hospital cover in Chrome, managed to singnup without that issue in edge.

  • I received the message this time “sorry, we couldn’t complete your purchase. Please check your application details and try again…”. I do not know what errors are from the message.

  • +4

Had a bit of play around with it and found the below work around. After landing on HBF website from Finder, instead of clicking the Get covered in minutes button, remove one of the products from the cart (using the x button on the product card) and re-add it using the Add product link. Continue with the rest of the process. This worked for me.

    • This actually works! Thanks

    • Thanks it worked for me too

    • Thanks, it actually worked!

  • +1

I had a read through of the t&cs and can confirm this stacks with the new HBF offer up to 12 weeks and $200 gift card:

The Reward does not apply to: Any other offer or discount, except for the HBF new joiner offer.

    • Nice find. They updated the T&Cs when they increased the limit to 320 and made that clause clearer. Previously, it didn't state "HBF new joiner offer".

  • How do i know if I'm still within the 320 limit? I assume the offer will be removed it it passes that threshold?

    • Following

    • +2

It's mentioned in the original post and in the comments

The offer will remain available on Finder until this limit is reached, at which point it will be removed.

      • Thanks mate, missed that.

  • Is payment via credit card also direct debit as in the payment option on the HBF website asks for "Which direct debit payment method would you like to use?" and list both bank account and credit card as options.

    • +1

Someone else mentioned this as well, see this comment. If in doubt, take a screenshot of the payment page incase your claim gets denied by Finder.
