Finder is offering a $500 digital Visa card to eligible customers who switch their health insurance, including hospital and extras cover, to HBF through the Finder Comparison Service.

This promotion is only open to Australian residents aged 18 and over, and starts at 12.01pm AEST 10 October 2025 and ends at 11.59am 9 December 2025, unless withdrawn earlier ("Promotion Period").

  • To be eligible for the Offer:
    • Create a Finder member account if you are not already a Finder member.
    • Complete a health insurance quote on the Finder Comparison Service.
    • Click on the unique promotion link on the Finder Comparison Service
    • Sign up and start cover for an Eligible Cover via the HBF website after 12:01pm AEST on 10 October 2025 and before 11:59am AEST on 9 December 2025.
    • Maintain Eligible Cover until the Reward is fulfilled.
    • Be a new HBF policyholder or have not held an HBF policy (hospital and/or extras, including urgent ambulance) in the last 12 months (excluding dependents coming off a family policy).
    • Pay premiums monthly or fortnightly via direct debit and ensure payments are up to date at the time of the Fulfilment Eligibility Check.
    • Provide the email address used to obtain the health insurance quote on the Finder Comparison Service and to purchase the Eligible Cover on the HBF website.
    • Customer's first name, last name and email address must match exactly in the health insurance quote on the Finder Comparison Service and the purchase transaction on HBF’s website.
    • Only one Reward may be claimed for each transaction that meets the eligibility criteria.

    I've got a couple of questions,

    1) When do we get 12 weeks free and $200 gift card from HBF?
    2) How do we know for sure that we are now tracked and included for the $500 gift card next year? They can always say 'no, you are not one of the first 320 customers'. Do we get any confirmation 'yes, now you're in and you will get $500 as long as you keep the cover till March next year' something of this effect? I received an email saying 'I clicked on the link to receive $500,' but received nothing after purchasing the cover.

      It's in the T&Cs of the HBF offer.

      The gift card will be issued by Prezzee, on behalf of HBF, after 31 days of continuous cover from the policy start date, provided HBF has received full payment for this period

      4 weeks free after 31 days
      4 weeks after 396 days
      4 weeks after 791 days.

      There's no way to officially know until Finder complete the Fulfilment Eligibility Check but the email you received is a good sign it's been tracked.

      Same here. Received an email from Finder saying "You're so close to scoring $500!". But nothing else. No confirmation from HBF regarding membership status. It's all a bit iffy for my likes.

    The terms have been updated.

    The offer is only available to the first 690 customers who sign up to an eligible HBF policy through the Finder Comparison Service in the same session.

    Do I need to set up payments with my bank account or will a cedit card be ok?

    • Take screenshot as HBF lists both as options.

  • I've just churned from HBF to AAMI and HBF don't want to refund me 2 weeks I overpaid. They say that the free weeks started from where I had paid up to rather than after 30 days. Bit of a tricky one. Never had this issue before with other providers.

    • If you signed up under the current promotional offer, the terms state 4 weeks free cover will be applied to your policy after 31 days from the start of your policy

  • Finder lists the HBF premium as $504, but when I click through to HBF’s site, the price jumps to $611. Has anyone else noticed this difference or know why the price increases when redirected?

    • I would suggest checking your details match between both sites including your age, state and rebate level. Some of the covers also have very similar names.

  • Their extras cover is garbage, most limits combined with completely unrelated covers.

    Have been looking to churn from Qantas (NIB), but so far, nothing really comes close in terms of pricing/coverage.

    Not sure what's happening with the website or this promotion.

      Same issue here. Called them 3x times, no result every single time. They couldn't send me the confirmation email that I'm covered. Fed up of this, today I got it cancelled. Can't believe these guys anymore. How can you believe that you are covered when you don't receive any written correspondence or email whatsoever. Pathetic. All 3 times I called, same response from the useless team (system error) which they couldn't resolve for 11 days. Ridiculous. Be warned guys. I'm out.

      • As you say, if the deal is showing live on Finder it is still LIVE.

        • If it's online, then why have a separate condition for number of customers ?

          If the promotion is not available, they can remove it from the website, but not leave it on there, and say "you must be within 690 customers", and there is no way of finding out what number in the 'queue' you are ?

    Got my $200 HBF gift card today (1 month post signing up) and 4 weeks free. Still waiting for the $500 gift card from finder.

      • Just coming back to this. I want to clarify I received a mail saying I’d get a $200 gift card from prezzee in 3 business days. It’s been 5 business days and no mail. What’s going on?

    • I got an email from HBF about the gift card today, nothing from prezzee yet (finder is still showing as "Hang tight, we're checking your eligibility.").

          So we're stuck with this fund for at least another 4 months not knowing if we will get the gift card or not from Finder. Can we not call and you check over the phone? That way if for whatever reason we are not eligible, we can switch rather than wait for almost half a year for nothing.

          • @runamuck: Totally get where you’re coming from on the wait time. The good news is that if you’ve met all the offer requirements in the Terms and Conditions, you’re on track to receive your gift card by 7 April.

            One thing to keep in mind: the offer does require your eligible policy to stay active until the reward is fulfilled. That’s part of the verification process, so we can’t confirm eligibility over the phone or release the reward early. Once the policy is still active through to the fulfilment date, the gift card gets issued.

  • I signed up using the link but I'm still getting email reminders about my quote. Is there a chance it didn't work and i don't get credit? Thinking whether i need to cancel and redo it.

    Can't seem to get into any contact details to get to finder either and ask them. Keeps telling me to login but I already am

    • Hi @shaz92451 - Don't worry about the email reminders, those are automatically created when you click through if you don't complete in the same session.

      You can email gxcustomercare@finder.com to double check if you like.

      As noted above, your eligibility will be checked on or before 30 March.

      You should also be able to see when logged in to Finder that you have rewards in progress.

  • The 'eligible cover' table in the offer means I have to buy the hospital with matching extras from table OR I can mismatch the options between hospital and extras?

    Also, when getting a quote from Finder. Do I have to log in to account and get one? As in quote process it only asks for email not the named as per T&C. Thanks

        The two columns - Hospital and Extras - are not meant to be read as matching pairs, but as two separate lists of eligible covers. You can mix and match any Hospital cover from the left column with any Extras cover from the right column.

    A few people have questioned whether direct debit includes both Credit Card and Bank Account as they have both options at HBF. Can you confirm as it is an eligibility requirement?

      Howdy!

      Confirming that as long as you are paying monthly or fortnightly (via card or bank account) you are eligible.

      It's only if you choose to pay for the whole year or half year (where you already get a discounted rate for the bulk payment) that you are ineligible.

    Has anyone received the $500 gift card from Finder for this instance of the deal?

    I signed up in Nov and received the 4 weeks free and $200 gift card from HBF. Would the other gift card from Finder land any sooner than whats mentioned in their terms? It wont be worthwhile for me to keep this policy until Mar if that’s how long it will typically take.

  • Took up this offer and selected Basic Hospital + Basic Extras at the time of transaction. Now, I want to upgrade the extras to Flex 50 or Flex 60 (listed on the t&cs) and wondering if I will still be eligible to receive the $500 gift card if I upgrade?

      Upgrading your extras won’t affect your eligibility, as long as the new extras is also an eligible product and you continue to meet all other conditions of the offer.
