Loved the original Hades, I wonder if there will there be a Hades 2 version for the switch 1 console?

    • +10

It says in the cover text at the bottom. If you put this cartridge in a Switch 1, it will play fine

      • -1

Thanks for clarifying. Got a copy, cheers!!

      • +1

damn i didnt know it worked the other way. thats smart future proofing if you upgrade

    • +1

Its already released in digital, can get it for about $45 from the nintendo store on Switch 1. Despite Hades being one of my all time favorites, Hades 2 has improved it in nearly every regard. Incredible game!

  • -7

Wow finally some normal prices for games

    • +19

isnt normal price for indie games around $30

    • +3

Normal price is $44 on PC, not sure it's worth the extra $20 for a physical copy.

      • +1

If the money goes to Supergiant then it's absolutely worth it

  • +13

Just a quick FYI that this game is $45 for the digital Switch 2 edition on the eShop for those who are not set on physical.

This is a really good game (finished it over the weekend) with a lot of replayability. While I tend to opt for physical for most Switch games due to resale, I actually prefer to have this one digital for convenience to play an occasional run since I have finished the main story.

    • +1

is it hard to play? I am bad with Hades 1.

      • +7

It's pretty similar in difficulty to Hades 1.

I was really bad at first too, but you start getting better at it after a few runs. I also turn on "God mode" to make it a easier too.

I wouldn't recommend getting it if Hades 1 didn't gel with you

      • I bought Hades 1 on hype and found that it's not only hard and unforgiving but I further did not find the 'cycle runs' particularly helpful eg. Learning boss patterns etc. was an absolute chore.

Now, I understand that there's people who love this type of game but I just found it was way better to watch streamer videos on it than to actually play and live it. Same goes with games like Dark Souls, absolute torture.

Thankfully it was only $40 or so but it's still money down the drain for me. Go with what you enjoy.

        • +2

If you're not a fan of roguelikes/lites though this type of game generally won't gel with most people. It's quite repetitive at the end of the day. I enjoyed Hades 1, played about 25-30hrs though never quite finished all story-aspects, but did eventually get bored of the repetitiveness of it.

I do plan to get 2 eventually but have other games in mind first.

      • How many hours did you put in Hades 1? It takes about 40 hours to get comfortable.

    • +1

damn youre quick! I feeling like im almost there but fall short a bit. what weapon did you use?

      • I like the Thanatos Axe. It's hard hitting and it's a beast once you upgrade the swing speed (I upgraded it to 40% faster).

You'll get there soon too - keep at it :)

  • Great game

  • +1

    I didn’t play Hades 1, can I go straight to 2?

    • -3

      you need to play #1

    • +4

If you don't plan on playing 1 I think you can jump straight into 2..otherwise I'd start at 1.
      Both games are fantastic.

    • +3

I guess you can, but I don't know why you'd want to skip 1. It is fantastic.

    • +2

I'd recommend starting with 1. The QoL stuff and mechanics builds on 1. Loves both games but if I started on 2 then 1 will feel a bit backwards imo.

    • I'd get 1 because it is a really great game in its own right still. After finishing it the way number 2 pans out will make sense. I feel jealous that you haven't played any Hades games yet, would love to be in that position!

  • +1

Nintendo tax in full swing already

    • +9

      Always has been meme

  • Why is this so expensive on Switch? You can get it for less than $40 on Steam with the 10% sale.

    • +1

Gotta add some Nintendollars onto the price.

But someone else here suggested you can get a digital copy on Switch 1/2 for $45.

      • +2

It's estimated that the physical game cards cost ~USD$16 each at a minimum for the devs/publishers - assuming that this isn't for just a "game key card"

    • Is this your first time finding out Switch games are almost always more expensive than Steam?

    • I'm guessing there's a license fee passed on to the devs in order to develop for the platform. Windows is open and free.

    • with switch you need to compare the price with different region, this game is only $32 at brazil region

  • +3

    Waiting for a Hades 1 S2 patch for 1080p handheld :(

  • Has Big W stopped the inner circle $10 voucher? Ain't getting it anymore.

  • Great Game well worth it. On Switch 1 too if you are interested. I believe The Switch 2 cartridge works, but its also cheaper on the eshop.

  • +1

Bought it last month and so far pumped 80 hours into it .

    It’s so addictive

  • -3

Never pre-order. Its a lose lose scenario

    • +3

      … It's out (Digital)

  • Been playing it on PC and Ally since release… love it!!! I was also a hugeeee fan of Hades 1. I only just finished the 'main' story of Hades 2 after about 50 runs! My pick for game of the year.

  • +1

Just get a steam deck and forgo the Nintendo tax. The amount of money you save pays for itself anyway

  • excellent game, have prob dumped about 20+ hours or so into already

  • I imagine this will look like a smeary mess on the built in screen on switch 2. Probably better off playing on a switch OLED if you have one

  • It's a lot more 'sparkly' than 1, which is quite unexpected. Every aspect has been improved, didn't think that's possible.

  • Surprised the game is on the cartridge for this one. Nice!

    • Why?

Hades 1 came on the cart but thats rare as hens teeth now to find

      • Considering almost all third party games don't, it's nice to see. Cyberpunk and what else for Switch 2?

  • Amazing game down to single digit achievements outstanding before I hit 100%. Getting there slowly…

  • The physical edition includes a full-color Character Compendium booklet, soundtrack download code, and reversible cover.

    • If its the same as HAdes 1 it will be in limited Quantities.

  • +1

change to brazil server and this game only cost $31 in the eshop

  • Fantastic game. Love everything Supergiant does

  • this is one game I'd just buy digital. It's cheaper and once you get it you'll want to have access to it at all times because its addictive af
