    one LM35 plus RPI Pico and small software can do the temperature measurement nicely, also can set up different Output to drive fan or heater etc…

  • Will this teach me about how small electronics work? Or do I need a lot of pre-knowledge before attempting something like this?

    • Looks to me like this kit is more for practicing/learning soldering. That being said, they do advertise the supplied manual may supply "a clear understanding of the product". For $10 I would totally try my luck. Pity it doesn't use an ESP32 or some other iot enabled chip…

      Anyway looks like minimal electronics experience is required for assembly.
